This game needs a Dark Geese-like crusade to get people playing it and make a scene/hype. Online promotes too many bad habits.
The good thing about the ninjas is that most scrubs in the game use them and by the time you’re actually good, you’re used to their bullshit. When I first started this game, I thought it was pretty garbage since there seemed to be little drawback to being random/mashing…but reaction and knowing matchups seems to fix that now.
I missed the frame data if it was in that guide thread.
DOA2 Tierlist:
Top Tier: Ein, Jann Lee, Hayabusa, Ayane
High Tier: Kasumi, Gen Fu
DOA3 Tierlist:
Top Tier: Gen Fu, Jann Lee, Hayate, Bass, Hayabusa
High Tier: Hitomi, Leon, Christie, Kasumi, Ein
DOA4 Tierlist:
Top Tier: Ninjas
High Tier: Gen Fu, Lei Fang, Tina, Spartan-458
Ninjas have always been in the top but usually its just one or 2 of them but in 4 all of them are in the top alone.
Hayabusa has always had a unbreakable combo throw and it used to do 120 pts on high counter but now it just does 112 pts this is all without environmental damage.
BTW there are a bunch of videos on youtube Unique vs Brady (which is the tag you can find them with) but they are severely outdated as far as the level of the game goes. For one Brady is alot better now and Unique stopped playing. Also in my opinion Brady’s best character is Gen Fu and not Bass. As powerful as Bass is he has alot of limits.
When I go back to VA I will make sure me and Brady record videos of me and him playing 3.2.
Top players for their respective characters:
note I am completely unbiased and it may seem like my below text will be a load of bull but its actually true

Gen Fu: Tom Brady
Hayabusa: DOAMaster

Hitomi: JustOwnin

Hm… I used to play DOA a lot online until my connection went to hell. I’m not that comfortable with going to people’s houses that i dunno to play. I went back to being casual, It’d take me awhile to get the hang of the game again. Where Kokoro is on the tier list seems about right. I spent a lot of time with her and she just get’s predictable after awhile x_x, she’s not deep enough imo.
Yeah, sorry I didn’t put your name after every character. Mine is based on results too if you couldn’t read, with only one or two exceptions. I did forget about Yoga Legend though, my bad there.
Yeah, Hayabusa has ALWAYS had 120pts Izunas on Hi Counter. In DOA4 they do 112 without environment. He also always had Punch Hold Izunas that did the same damage as the throw, but normal/counter/hi counter revision is based on the timing of the hold, of course.
Hayabusa does have Ninpo now, but nobody really uses effectively even now.
BUT he had a full handstand stance in DOA3.1 that made up for it. The handstand stance in DOA4 you can only do 2 moves, and it’s not really a stance, just a string. And remember, Busa used to have a longer range 2F+K, which was great for simply just ranged poking people. Another thing is that after Izuna throw you could also get a larger combo in DOA3.1, (8P, 8P, PP4PK I think?).
Busa lost a couple, gained a couple. He’s no where close to “dominant”, just top tier. If you don’t know how to defend against something, any character could be dominating.
I just showed you before tournament results where all kinds of non-ninja characters won tournaments.
My bad then, I did actually forget you beat Jail and Highguy at Evo with Gen-Fu and Jann Lee. But I wasn’t just considering highest placings in my post (although Majin did come first in a tourney with Lei-Fang and you missed him out), I just wanted a little variety to my list, to give credit to more than one good player.
btw, funniest thing is that Aion’s list is just PL’s with a lot of people added, and Jann Lee/Gen Fu taken away from PL’s name. - So you guys should probably stop arguing about it, if you actually look it’s a very similar list, with a lot of people added.
You know PL did do most of Evo East with Jann Lee and Gen Fu… right? And who won Evo East again? I think you’ve got your answer there.
As for your opinions, if you actually played the game again, a couple of your opinions may change. (Like the fact that Mamba doesn’t even play Lei Fang anymore, and hasn’t for a year. He uses Tina and Helena.)
I already mentioned PL’s Evo performance and said ‘my bad’. And I’m not considering the most recent results, I’m considering the overall results so far…so Black Mamba does make it, as well as Highguy too actually.
Geez, I try and help someone out only to get lashed at, I already said they won’t be 100% accurate. I don’t visit DOAC that regularly and I’ve been out of touch for a while, so yes my memory is shady.
Also, the reason I didn’t put PL with only Hayate, was because I saw Hayate as his main. I put people with characters which are known to be their mains. PL switches between top tiers alot but mostly sticks with Hayate, again if I’m wrong here correct me, but don’t lambast me. I also put Mamba on multiple characters because he changes his mains.
I’m sure Helter doesn’t mind the list I gave him, he’s not an uptight person.
Beating a character doesn’t make them any less of a top tier character. I never got that logic, that would be like me saying Chun-li is not really dominate in Third Strike because I saw some guy’s use oro and beat her.
