again…I just can’t get past even the hangar area on Legendary. I just spent a good 20 to 30 minutes there…the result = me with nothing but a few shots out of a Plasma pistol left, plasma grenades, and 3 or 4 Elites still running around.
How can people do this?
Engage in a firefight with an Elite on Legendary and you are DEAD. It seems like they just have to hit you about 3 times with plasma rifle fire and that’s it for you. 3 hits.
You can’t emply the hit/run or “shoot and hide” thing…because their shields recharge just like yours…so you will simply run out of ammo. (enemies’ ammo seems infinite, of course.)
Again…plasma grenades don’t even phase them. Headshots don’t seem to do anything either. Once again today…I’m sure I got 6 or 7 headshots on this one guy…and he’s still alive!
I’m not seeing how this is even possible. You can’t beat them the slow shoot/hide way…and engaging in any kind of extensive shootout with them is absolute suicide…and grenades don’t do any real damage it seems, and the “POWER!” weapons(RL, Fuel Rod, Brute Shot) don’t show up that early in the game. There’s simply no options here.
Duel wield with the Magnum out in the way. Overcharge the plasma pistol and then fire away with the regular pistol. The plasma grenades work but you HAVE to stick the Elites with them. Try to keep your marines alive as long as possible.
oh yeah…the interesting thing is…this isn’t even the “challenging” part of this whole stage 1. There’s another wave of Elites and Grunts that appear on the other side of the room of course…and then another, and then a few from the door over by the corner…but the actual challenge is really when you go down the stairs, searching for the bomb. The part after that is much, much worse…where you come up the stairs from that area right into a close-quarters firefight with 2 Elites, and some chump Marine that always dies in 2 seconds. (yeah, some “help” there.) Even on co-op last night, we only made it past that room by pure luck…not skill.
And yeah…I’m really starting to get that same “Battletoads” feeling about Halo 2 Legendary. I’m already beginning to get highly skeptical of all those people that claimed to beat Legendary. At least some of these people are lying. This is just the first section of the game here, and it’s already the bullshit is already overflowing. Eh, next time I’ll try to actually fight them at ground level…since I can be closer that way, and have an easier chance of hitting with the charged shot from a plasma pistol…
Metroid Prime 2-excellent game,a must buy for any person who played the first one and or likes first-person shooters.
Kuon-I just got it and played it for a hour so far,its a strage, freaky good horror game. Not as good as Fatal Frame(yet) but its unique and fun.
DOA 2 Ultimate on live-a lot of fun to play online. I learned how much fun this game can be against other people and have learned to be a better player at it.
Halo 2-I really like this one, better than the first one. The online play is excellent and I would suggest it for any Halo fan.
Tekken 5-this Tekken is the best I have played in the series so far. The arcade cabinet is very unique and the best to date for players.
I seem to be obsessed with playing “Sonic Adventure” for DC now, probably because I never finished the damned thing with anyone. I have found a lot more stuff than I knew before, including the someone what obvious “Level C/B/A” thing.
Anyway, though I don’t have it as bad as Million does apparently, I just want to bitch about how absurdly difficult Level A of the Emerald Coast is. Moreso considering that it’s the first Level (A) of the game. Of the probably 100+ I’ve played the Emerald Coast, I think I’ve only finished it under the ludicrious requirement of two minutes thrice. That’s rather irksome, especially considering that I expected Icecap to be much harder on Level A since I suck at snowboarding; I just beat that less than five minutes ago after losing once because I didn’t realize that you have to jump coming off the jumps for anything happen…though it makes since.
But I digress, since all I was here to say that Emerald Coast Level A is fucking whore.
Oh, since I’m here though. Does anyone own KOF '94 and/or '98?
On stage 8 now. Just finished the everwinter stage, and that stage truly blew chunks. And not because of difficulty. It seems like it was totally thrown in just to have a winter stage. And the level design was terrible. The boss was also crappy. So far its the first and only stage that I hate in this game.
You know that you can rapidly tap the attack button to do little spinballs like multiple little turbo boosts, right? Many of the A Emblems require that. Also remember that many levels have significant shortcuts that can be achieved by doing things such as spinballing up ramps and using the massive air to leap over pits. For example, this can be done up the huge grass ramp in Emerald Coast, right after the sandstone tube in the second half of the level. Hang a right and leap over the water to save about 10-15 seconds.
IMO, the worst Sonic A Emblems were Casinopolis (I suck hardcore at pinball) and Red Mountain. Twinkle Park is also particularly hard. You must use the shortcut that avoids the merry-go-round/bowling portion after the roller coaster to even make it in time.
Well, I know that now, since I beat Level A thrice (and only thrice, absurd piece of shit). It just seems horrible that Emerald Coast’s Level A is so ridiculous since it’s the first stage. I mean, Windy Hill (or whatever the hell it’s called) had an extremely easy Level A that was practically braindead comparatively.
Sonic has to go through Red Mountain? Oh, joy. That stage was such a bitch for Knuckles…which reminds me that I have to do it again with him because I’ve started entirely over, and thus had to do that Level A bullshit first with Sonic after getting Tails for the umpteenth time.
At the part where I’m stopped, I already have Knuckles again and I am at his first Level A…which are probably the worst of the three in general that I’ve played through so far. I only remember it doing those by luck…which I’m guessing would be the only way to do them.
Stupid one minute limit and enemy character emerald pieces.
Don’t. I’ve beaten Halo 2 on Legendary, it’s hard but it’s doable. Keep the following things in mind:
1)When Dual wielding ALWAYS use an alien plasma weapon with a human weapon. The Plasma weapons DESTROY shields but the Human weapon KILLS things quicker and without the overheating. The sole exception is the Needler which can be used in place of a human weapon.
Grenades are your friends, but know the differnces. Plasma grenades STICK and can kill anything but a Hunter in one shot. Frag Grenades are great for causing havoc and setting off other grenades.
Needlers DESTROY Brutes. ALWAYS keep one handy when you’re dealing with or going into an area where you KNOW Brutes are. Remember the last Brute alive in any given area WILL berzerk and charge. Pump his ass full of needles.
Get the Shotgun ASAP whenever possible. It kills Elites like nothing else and works decently against the Flood combats.
The Plasma sword is your best weapon against Combat forms. It kills all but the enegery shielded former Elites with ONE strike and leaves no body for Infection forms to restore.
Provided you keep your allies alive, be they covenant or human, they have INFINITE ammo and or grenades. If that rocket launcher or Sniper rile is runnig low on ammo, give it to them and let them fire away.
Sgt. Johnson and The Spec Ops leader (the Elite in White with the Sword the arbitor interacts with) are INVINCIBLE and cannot be killed. Johnson gives you a hint in the first meeting when he says you can hide behind him. DO it and he’ll take all the shots but never die.
Regarding the hangar bay, keep in mind Halo 2 has a number of scripted events within a given level. Such as the timing and mixure of the groups being delievered. With a little effort you can time your grenade throws to the point where you can stick one an a new arriving convenant.
Your weapon selection and usage should dictate how you engage the enemy. Do not get away and shoot away with the SMG. Likewise do not try meleeing with the Sniper Rile (unless you have to).
ALWAYS be ready to leave. With the exception of Hunters and some elites, NO enemy will track you if you leave an area you just entered to recharge your shield. Don’t be afraid to go back an area you already cleared to wait on your shield to recharge. Most convenant AI has the attitude of out of sight, out of mind. Even Hunters will relax and let their guard down if you wait.
The Convenant react VERY differently to various sitautions. Jackals and Grunts once their leader (The Elite or Brunt with them) dies, they usually hide. Jackals do so less often but do it. Jackal snipers once you get in a certain distance drop their beam rifles and use their plasma pistols while running for cover.
As far as the Hangar bay level goes specificaly. I find it best to hang out on the catwalk and use the Battle rifle. I usually kill the grunts first but to each his own.
EDIT: Yeah I know dealing with the Armory elites is VERY tough but again, use the dield and don’t be afraid to duck DOWN the stairs to recharge your shield and hide. The Elites will NOT chase you down there.
The Shotgun is also in the Armory as the Gunnery sergeant was using it. Pick it up and make good use of it as well.
Final thing, Spec Ops Elites are hands down the MOST dangerous enemy in the game. They have a VERY high healt, a good shield and are always well armed with either a plasma rifle, a Convenant Carbine or the Fuel rod gun.
However, you can exploit a flaw in their AI. If you melee a SPEC Op Elite or just close to him, he will 90% of the time, DROP his weapon, roar and pull out a plasma sword to kill you with. When he roars, ALWAYS target him with your best weapon or stick him with a grenade and back off facing him unless he dies before completing his roar.
Knux’s A Emblems are pretty simple, actually, as long as you have the lives. The Emeralds always respawn at the same place if you pick restart, and the Emeralds themselves act as the continue markers. So take your time finding the shards, then pause and pick “restart”, and run to each. If you screw up, you can pick “restart” again and begin from the last shard that you collected. FYI, Knux also gets 2 minutes on his last level, Sky Deck.
Do you have a GameCube? The GC version of SA has Metal Sonic as an unlockable character if you get all the Emblems and complete all of the Missions (new mode on the GC version, kinda lame).
Thanks for the Restart tip, not that I like using it unless I have 20+ lives from doing Emerald Coast over and over again. I had restart four times to finish Red Mountain, though I ended restarting next to one of those damned fire robots every time; I’m assuming that Emerald pieces are like Sonic’s checkpoints and equally “screw-worthy”.
In the last ten minutes, I finally found the Silver Statue in about two minutes after spending at least a half-an-hour looking for them last time. I had gotten the Fighting Gloves before that, which were helpful in Lost World with all those accursed chameleons, though it sucks that you can’t jump. The part where I stopped was after the second flashback, meaning that I can now play as E-102 apparently.
I do have a Gamecube–I probably have like every game system except for an X-Box, the last Gameboy, and that ill-designed Virtual Boy. However, I had SA and my DC way before I got that, so I don’t have SA on GC. That’s interesting though.
I really like Metal Slug Advance…but screw it! That last dumb boss is a serious pain. Takes forever to kill him and if you get hit like 3-4 times, you may as well give up.
I’ve also decided to stop playing GTA Advance. I enjoyed the game but not as much as I have many other GBA games. Besides, I’d rather put more time into Advance Wars.
heh, I just got 2 belated Christmas gifts from my friend and his wife…Gun Valkyrie and The Thing for xbox! I’m more excited about GV though, I remember it looking cool when I saw him playing that on a demo a long time ago…
“whoah” —MECHASSAULT 2 is The Shit. I can’t wait to get my own…my friend has the game and I played it over there…it’s one of the greatest things ever. Just what I expected…it’s MA…but even better with more “stuff”. The explosions when a mech is destroyed are some of the coolest ever in the history of video games, btw.
new EGM = they did the “Parents playing Video Games” segment this month, and what I’ve read so far was hilarious. Their comments on Katamari Damacy are just too funny. Heh, and they all eventually gave up on Pokemon Colosseum. Pure comedy there…I love it.
So, I finally got around to playing KOF: MI…it’s more or less what I expected, not that good. But it kills some time, so I overlook most of the flaws. I can overlook Nina…I mean Lien, I can overlook the random gang boss that K’, Iori, Kyo or Terry would murder within seconds. But there is one thing, that no matter what, I can NOT overlook…
Mignon. Who in God’s name thought that slightly retarded, cat-fighting French parlor magician was a good idea?! She sounds like frickin’ Anna Nicole with an accent…WTF. This is easily SNK’s biggest mistake, folks. This is worse than Bao. This is even worse than Brian Battler. She’s worse than Goenitz’s damn “Koko Desuka”. In fact, this character somehow manages to be worse than all of SvC. Hell, this was a worse idea than SNK selling KOF to Eolith.
That aside…I’ll still play the game (new outfits are fun) but damn. If I’d been the man in charge of that game, I’d have fired Falcoon and anyone else involved with the debaucle that is Mignon Beart.
I bought and have been playing MMX8 recently. All in all, I think that it lives up to the hype and is indeed better than X5-7. Some of the items were hidden in stupid ways, though. Like the stuff buried in the ground. Not only would I have not known that the charged Crystal Wall could dig if I hadn’t looked it up online, but there is also usually nothing indicating that you should dig there. I also hated the Gigavolt Man-O’-War’s stage, and wasn’t too fond of the Avalanche Yeti’s either. But the rest of the game has seemed pretty good. I like how distinctly different each of the three characters are, And some of the new weapons and techniques are cool.
MY FAVORITES
X:
Shining Ray
Green Spinner
Thunder Dancer (Chain Lightning, anyone?)
Axl:
Spiral Magnum
Ice Gattling
Black Arrow
Blast Launcher
Zero:
D Glaive
K Knuckles
Sigma Blade (EDIT IN: Just got this last night! It rocks!)
I also really like X’s charged shot from the red armor set (Hermes, I think). It looks like a fuckin’ Shinkuu Hadoken or something coming out of his blaster. I also liked being able to fight the Bamboo Panda inside a mech. Wicked!
thanks for the info on MMX8. I was thinking if it was good enough to buy or not. I have been a fan of the MM series for years now,the ones before 8 on the PS2 and GC just are not that good. Except for the MM collection, that brings back memories
Having a broken Turbo Duo and being irrepairable just turned out for the better. This same guy that made an unsucessful attempt at fixing my Duo is going to make it up to me by offering a free XBox mod.
Anyway, finally got GGXX #Reload for PC. It’s very tough to play when the game is windowed for multitasking. It’s either choppy as hell, or just slow period. Otherwise it’s perfect on full screen.
Well I beat Budokai 3 on Z mode a few days ago. Man, that was a serious workout on my thumbs. Easiest way to beat DU on Z mode is with Yamcha. Only 3 fights and his DU is done. I actually did it without losing a single fight. W00t!! Beating someone’s DU on Z mode unlocked Z2 (haven’t played that yet). Right now I’m playing through Goku’s DU on Z mode. I’m actually getting the hang of fighting tougher opponents. If I keep at it, Z mode may seem pretty easy later on. As for Z2…
All this talk about X8 in the MMX8 thread makes me hungery for that game. After the suckfest that was X7, X8 is like welcoming back an old friend from what I’ve heard. I can’t wait to play it.
