The "Currently Playing" Game Thread-Discuss Your Games, Vent, Give Props, etc

I have now fully completed MMX8. I got all the armors, all the characters, and all the upgrades. Of the three navigators, I like playing as Layer the best. Pallette just looks stupid, and Alia’s way too weak because she’s like X but without the armor parts. But Layer is cool.

I’ve also unlocked but haven’t yet beaten Super-Hard Mode on my roommate’s copy of Sonic Heroes. I’ve really enjoyed replaying this game. IMO, it’s a masterpiece.

“Suikoden IV” is a hell of a lot better than part 3. Which is a good thing! Only 10mins in game so far haha =\

“Mercenaries Playground of Destruction” is still too good though. Early contender for GotY 2k5 lol

RE4 is the best horror game I have played in years!!!

drools, then goes into hibernation playing RE4

Hey I beat Trema the other day. One of the easiest fights in that whole Via Infinito. It was HARDER fighting everything else in there besides Trema. What a joke.

Yuna: Gunner.
Accesories- Catnip, Speed Bracer
Garment Grid- Highroad Winds

Rikku: Dark Knight
Accessories: Key to Success, Rune Bracer
Garment Grid- Valiant Lustre

Paine: Dark Knight
Accessories- Speed Bracer, Rune Bracer
Garment Grid- Valiant Lustre

Talk about balance, the Dark Knight is overpowered like shit. Trema only dealt about 3000 or less in damage with his combination, against Paine and Rikku… who both had 9999. Then Meteor dealt about the same.

Yuna was left with low life so she can use the catnip correctly. And Paine always used phoenix down on her, cause Rikku’s key to success PD would take Yuna out of the danger life making the catnip useless. The Catnip was my only source of damage. The 2 dark knights were support.

Yuna just needed about 5-6 turns, GG.

Currently playing Front Mission 4, DOA2U, and Halo 2.

Halo 2, playing through again on heroic.

Fable, 3rd time through, I wish this game was longer…and harder…and just generally had more stuff…And it could use a story overhaul, So many bad RPG clich’s. Hometown burnt down? Check. Childhood rival? Check. Betrayed by an important good guy? Check. Arena sequence? Check. Familly connection to last boss? You better believe that’s a check. the list goes on.

And Agressive inline for PS2! Now there’s a game! There’s something about how uncool inline skating is that makes this game fun. I like how it doesnt try to sell me the skater life style. Like the THPS game do (mostly underground). But whatever, it was cheap. Which makes it all worthwhile.

I’m STILL not past “Cairo Station” on Legendary. That’s it…I’m now sure that for every 10 people that claim to have beaten Legendary Halo 2— most likely there are 5 people who are just lying. Come on, this isn’t even the real deal challenge here…there are areas in the game that are 10x more difficult than this…this is the “warm-up” section of the game, and it’s already rediculous.

The Elites are like BETTER versions of Master Chief…how the fuck can he deal with hundreds of them? Even MC’s shields become completely irrelevant…he may as well be fighting them butt ass naked…you CANNOT survive being in front of an elite…you will die in 1 second. I did whittle their numbers down to 1 for awhile earlier today though…but then I went down to the floor behind the big…jet or whatever it is…stuck one with a plasma grenade…and of course the little cunt lives thru that…one has a sword out, and oohhh…what do I have? A couple of shots of a plasma pistol, and an empty SMG. There was no way out of that situation…well, perhaps…I meleed him, but in a panic, I forgot I had the SMG, and meleed with the Plasma Pistol!..which is completely worthless of course. It was just the same damage as if I coughed on him…and he did one slash and I was finished. I’m going back to Heroic or Normal so I can actually have fun again.

*edit—the next time, I at least made it to where there was one elite left on the left side of the room…and some guy says something like “…they’re retreating…we won!”, but then more covenant come in from the other side of the room…

I just finished playing a Japenese homebrew game called Doukutsu Monogatari. It’s an action platformer shooter RPG adventure thing, of sorts. I’m going to be bold, and call it the best freeware game this side of Kenta Cho.

Cops=No. 1 annoyance in GTA: SA. They hit ME while I’m driving and suddenly it is MY fault? So you’re gonna come after me for something YOU did? Screw you.
:lame:

I’m looking for another GBA game to play along with Advance Wars. Only 4 more Field Traning Missions and I’ll be off to the real deal. I’ve got some unopened GBA games but most of them would take me 40+ hours or so to beat. Maybe I’ll just pick up something today. Maybe.

I’m STILL in Cairo Station on Legendary Halo 2. I can at least get it down to like 2 or 3 elites left on that first side…and 1 at one point. Last time…it was 3 Elites left…I was on the right side of the room, and tried to get him with a plasma charged shot, but he immediately took me out with THREE shots from his plasma rifle. I keep hearing charged plasma is the only way since it takes out a shield, but how can you really survive any kind of close-quarters fight with an Elite on this difficulty? You are dead in literally less than a second, unless the Elite in question was dumb enough to pull out a sword at a distance. As I said before, Elites on Legendary LAUGH at a plasma grenade. It doesn’t do anything to them, even if they get stuck.

Legendary = rediculous. haha…but somehow I keep playing it. It’s like I’ve become obsessed with trying to pass this one simple area. At lest on Normal and likely Heroic as well…that area is nothing compared to certain other situations in the game…
I still haven’t gone back to Normal…and I never even beat Heroic at all. I tried Heroic once, and it was rough, but curiosity got me…and I just HAD to check out what Legendary was like.

I’ve gotten away from playing Mega Man X8 for a bit…

Right now, I’m playing Final Fantasy X. Does anyone else think that the guy who voiced Auron watched the entire Batman animated series as prep for the role? I almost expect Auron to bust out with:

Auron: "I am vengeance. I am the night. I. AM. BATMAN!!!"
Tidus: "Uhhhh, if you say so…"
Wakka: "He musta gotten too close to Sin…"
Lulu: (Shakes head)

After I finish X, I’ll play X-2.

Oh, and with the recent purchase of STREET FIGHTER ETERNAL CHALLENGE, I’ve been playing SF a lot more recently. Too bad the only SF machine in town is the SF Alpha 2 at Sac State.

Street Fighter Eternal Challenge? What’s that?

I got that book today from ebay. I can’t wait to recieve it.

Famicom: Basically, it’s the english translated version of the guide to Street Fighter.

New purchases:

Alien Hominid (PS2)-Been wanting this baby for a while now. Thought I’d get it now.

Wild Arms 3-Been a fan of the series since the first game. Haven’t played 2 yet but now that I have the whole trilogy, I may start 2, even though I hear it is the worst in the series.

Technic Beat-I didn’t even hear of this game until today. I was in Funcoland and saw it. From the cover, it looked like some sort of rythem/music game. It looked interesting and it was only $14.99. Game came out in November of '04. Talk about an under the radar title.

Haven’t played any of the games yet but I plan to spend some qaulity time with AH, showing the FBI what’s up.

I WANT THAT. Were there any more copies there? If so, pick one up for me and we’ll work something out, yesyes?

I can kill Legendary Elites a bit faster now, but I still haven’t made it out of Cairo Station. Last night I was down to 2 or 3 of them left…one of which had white or gold armour(a spec. ops leader type?!). I threw a plasma bomb and it got him, AND hit him with some plasma rifle shots…went for a melee, and he still killed me. We were on the 1st level of that room, and this took place on that left-most wall by all the boxes. It is at least interesting how my death plays out somewhat differently each time…and it’s always satisfying to at least kill some of those Legendary Elites before I die. The one in white(or gold? can’t remember) always has a sword…if I could just kill him and get his sword…do the Legendary elites die in one hit from a sword? I’m guessing no, but it should be fun to try that…and it will feel so good when I finally kill the one in white…

that last time was pretty good…I still had a decent amount of Battle Rifle ammo left, along with a Plasma rifle by the time I came down to the 1st floor.

Gotta a ? about the Halo 2 ending. I saw my friends beat the game in co-op mode and SPOILERMC was still alive at the end, I thought he died END SPOILER

Well when I bought it, my copy still had shrink wrap on it. (You know how Funcoland/GameStop is with that crap.) So I’m guessing there were still some copies left. Is the game hard to find in your area? If so, let me know.

Halo 2 Legendary —I can’t believe it!!! I actually moved on…to THE NEXT CHECKPOINT :stuck_out_tongue: Haha…at least it’s some form of progress after dying in the same area for the past several days. I was kinda in the zone for awhile…I started with Plasma rifle shots on the first 2 or 3 elites while they tried to kill the marines…then switch out to battle rifle for some headshots while I’m strafing around of course…by they time they turn towards me, it’s usually too late, their shield is busted, and one or 2 more headshots and they die. What followed was a long battle with me tossing out 2 grenades at a time with backup fire for when they dodge that…then I went down on the floor, and another long battle ensued with the final 3 elites. The one in white was the last one to die…and now I can’t even remember how I finished it.

Whatever, a few covenant show up on the right side of the room, and I was back up on the catwalk area…and threw more grenades down to them…after getting a fresh plasma rifle from one of the dead elites. It was a long game of peekAboo shooting from behind crates here, and I think I killed 1 elite, and apparently the other one ran.(?!) I went out into that fiery hallway soooo carefully, as I figured they were all just hiding in there…but nope. Finally I’m at the next checkpoint, where the next hellish battle begins with the 2 grunts at the top, working the turrets. This section is actually more fun.

I did get a sword off another white elite, but the 1-hit kill didn’t work on one of the gold elites. Reticle turned red, and I slashed as he was running at me…and he was still alive, and killed me with his own sword. I have more faith in beating this section…it seems easier to find cover in this room.

EDIT—about the H2 ending ((((((((spoiler obviously((((((((((((

I haven’t seen it in awhile, but what made you think Chief was dead? I remember he sneaks on board that ship that Prophet of Truth was on…which is heading for Earth. (the “Ark”?) MC says he’s going to finish this fight…which sets things up for Halo 3.

edit 2 —not sure why this ending pisses people off, btw. It’s obviously a cliffhanger…thus, the whole point is to leave you HANGING, and saying “oh I GOTTA see what happens next!” Sometimes people don’t seem to get that…plus it could be the same group of people that hate the Arbiter levels for whatever reason, as the final battle here ends up being another Arbiter level.

Replaying Chrono Trigger. Just got to the point where you find out the Chencellor is Yakra, etc. This game is so awesome, I remember my first time playing it.

I just want to say that Frog/Glenn is the shit. Always will be!

^ Oh snap. Somebody else that’s replaying CT.

Speaking of that, I just got my Epoch and back to 12,000 BC to get revenge on the bastards that used Schala to seal that certain gate.

Oh yeah quick question, does anyone remember how to get Chrono’s ultimate weapon the “Rainbow Sword”?

Critical hits for life!
