The "Currently Playing" Game Thread-Discuss Your Games, Vent, Give Props, etc

oh this is great…and character-swap works fine now in my GTA. All I needed was a little patience…apparently that particular code doesn’t work right at the start of the game(*the tank code does…speaking of that…it’s funny how you can just spawn a tank out of nowhere like that…) I had to go to the 1st destination with 8ball to ditch those orange jumpsuits. heh, now I’m just not sure who I want to be…there’s so many character models to pick from. The last adventure was just as a regular guy in a suit and a hat…he looked like he was dressed for church or something…and I beat down some hookers with him.

My custom soundtrack is greatness now, and this is only the beginning. Currently it’s like this:
Burly Brawl, 227 theme, Hunter, Knight Rider, Challenge of the Superfriends, Pacman startup music, Tom Hanks laughing from “Money Pit”(when he got stuck in the floor), Hawaii Five-0, The Hogan Family, Night Court, “It’s Yourz” from WuTang Clan, COPS(cartoon), Muppet Babies, Captain N:The Gamemaster, “Only YOU can prevent forest fires” from Smokey the Bear, Benson, Kickstart my Heart(Motley Crue), and many more! I have at least 35 tracks already on 1 “CD” section, and I’ve started another just to spread them out a bit. It’s perfect that this works just fine with my CD-Rs…because when it comes to tv themes, I have almost everything…so I could play to just about anything on GTA now.

Great moment = I’m getting away from the cops in some slow truck…and the theme to 227 comes on…but it’s cut short because the truck had too much damage, and I blew up. “There’s…NO place like home! da DAAA!BOOOOM. Mission Failed.” This is great…and I still haven’t even started on Vice City yet…

I spent new year’s day gaming at a co workers apartment with his brother and best bud. When I got there they were playing NES Castlevania. They were on stage 3 and the dude who was playing actually beat the boss. :wow: I was surprised because I’ve never seen beyond that stage. Those two freaks of nature bosses just kill me every time. Of course after seeing them play stage 4, stage 3 looked kinda easy. Makes me wanna buy Castlevania NES Classic on the GBA even more now. I want that game SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BAD!!!

Brandon’s (my co-worker) brother is pretty good at fighting games. I played him in a few matches of Budokai 3 and he was hanging with me pretty well. He got the hang of teleporting and TCing VERY quickly. Although I won more fights than he did, it was “the thrill of the fight” that really got my gaming blood going.

No need to tell you all about the pwnage they handed me in Capcom vs. SNK 2.

Still waiting on a proper fixed copy of GT4. But for now, Tales of Rebirth is pretty good. But since its a rpg, I’m having tons of fun w/all the dialogue haha.

Kessen III isn’t bad. Just kinda lazy actually playing games. FMA is back to collecting dust after about 4hrs of gameplay. Its getting very repetitive a la KH.

Metal Slug Advance is still pretty tough. Even though the 1hit kills are gone, its still… a bit frustrating.

edit : and KOF 94 is shit. Can’t believe I wasted time getting this game

Does anyone have any tips for beating Maester Seymour (FFX) when you are about to go to Zanarkand, right after the Kimahri mountain. The man seems like Ivan Drago, invincible. N e one have any tips??

Do the cheap thing and charge up all of your aeons’ overdrives before you fight him. When the battle starts, let Yuna call them out and let him have it. He’ll be almost dead once the onslaught is over.

I’m playing Phantom Brave. Yeah, I know I’m behind. Too many good games lately. It’s pretty sweet so far.

Just finished up with MGS3. Probably the best example of excellent storytelling in any game, <i>ever</i>. It’s games like this that i’ll never forget.

Also playing ZOE2, NFSU2 and Katamari Damacy.

I had another epic battle with the law enforcement in GTA3 today. This time I was fighting them as an FBI agent.(character-swap code is so tight).
Great Moment of the Day: I got some fat 70s car, and was going top speed with cops in hot persuit…I hit a ramp and go sailing over some structure, and of course the camera shifts to show it in slow motion…and the theme to Benson is playing. See, it’s moments like these that warm my heart, and lead me to say that GTA series are the best games ever made. And I STILL haven’t even touched Vice City yet! AND San Andreas is on the way to Xbox in a few months! I’m in GTA heaven all over again…but yeah…back to the epic battle…

-I found a reasonably safe spot. It’s best to stick to high places, apparently…as this limits the police’s options of getting to you. They can only approach you 1 or 2 different ways usually, and you can easily take care of that. On ground-level, however, they can hit your from all sides. I was chillin’ up by where the monorail thing comes to pick-up and drop off passengers. I was picking people off all day with a sniper rifle, and shooting helicopters out of the sky if they tried to start with me. Oh yeah, cheating was rampant. I would enter the health and armor codes when necessary, which wasn’t even that often since the high-up spots tend to be much safer than the streets. The bastards couldn’t touch me. It was funny when at one point, they tried to drive a police car up the stairs to get to me! Haha…no. I blew that ass up with a missile…all it did was knock me down since I had full armor. Nothing could stop me, and I wasn’t even in a tank…I just made sure to cheat up all weapons. I must’ve killed several precints-worth of police, and quite a few van units(SWAT?).

heh, and at one point, I was crusin’ to the theme from People’s Court(80s version of course)

Right now im playing magic the gathering T1.

Heh heh, Million’s talk about GTAIII reminds me of the good old days. I use to just screw around with that game all the time especially with cheats. I would just set a whole crowd of people on fire with a flame thrower or I’d just get to a high position to cap some people with the sniper rifle or with a rocket launcher and just mess fools up. And the cops couldn’t do jack about it. I would laugh maniacally as they tried, though. Ah, good times.

Metal Slug Advance continues to laugh at me. I’ve reached the final mission and the final boss is one tough mother to kill. If you take 1 hit during the fight it seems like even that is just too much damage. Makes me wish you had lives in this game. I must have spent more than 25 minutes Sunday evening trying to take the thing down.

some of my best moments in GTA Vice city is being on a motorcycle, with a 4 star rating (the best, because the cops get INSANELY mad, a huge step from 3, and theres swat team vans scattered in.plus there is no FBI. I can handle cops without weapons, but the FBI are serious.) while I was listening to Mona Lisa Overdrive from Matrix Reloaded.

Best thing to do in the above situation is weave in and out of the oncoming traffic. Sometimes a cop will chase you into the oncoming, and get completely demolished by a swat team van going 60mph. It’s all about dodging the van at the last second, and watching it slam into the cop car behind you, sending it off into the sky.

Reminds me of smash brothers when you hit someone straight upward and they fade into the distance with that glint.

heh, Mona Lisa Overdrive…there’s an idea…I must put “Tetsujin”(Revolutions shootout scene) on there too. It’s funny to roll up on the sidewalk suddenly and run over a whole group of people at once. I may start Vice City today…

After another scan of the Halo 2 forums at gamefaqs last night…I saw that most people have their look sensitivity WAY up, and it suddenly made perfect sense to me…obviously someone who is comfortable with just 2 really wouldn’t have much of a chance against people who are comfortable with 7. I had it set at 2 or 3 to have an easier time sniping enemies in campaign mode, and it was just easier to control. I immediately bumped my look up to 6, and it didn’t take long to adjust…so I bumped it up one more notch to 7…so far I’m still doing just fine, but this is only against the cpu-controlled enemies of course. I want to eventually be able to play comfortably at the maximum setting of course.(10, right?)

I can never remember the names of these levels…but I was on that dark stage with Flood last night as The Arbiter…and I decided to ditch the whole stealth thing and try to make it through without cloaking, and actually fighting those guys. It was great! I had a shotgun, oh, and the kills were so sweet…jump in the air, aim down and blast a Flood’s head section before I come back down, turn around and kill the other one coming at me in 1 shot, then take out one of those flying things…aw it’s just sexy. I have found new love for the shotgun.

*I’ve been thru the game once already…and I didn’t realize…some of the Flood’s have shields!?!

As we speak at this minute, I am holding my complete new copy of Front Mission for Super Famicom in the palm of my hand. Has another great art masterpiece from Yoshitaka Amano, and has a small question in English:

“How does a man survive on the battlefield that Huffman has become?”

Now where’s my Bahamut Lagoon at?!

Wish I could read all the posts- :pleased:

Got X-Men Legends for Christmas and Dig it.
Like having four characters at once- so cool.
Jubilee, Jean, Beast, Emma, and Nightcrawler are most fun for me since they never made it to Capcom fighters.

Some lameness (dying by falling in a few feet of water) and lack of more frequent boss enemies, etc.

Gamefaqs scares me. I should start a topic here.

My only U.S. made game for the PS2 other than Crash Nitro Cart. :bgrin:

I think I’ve really lost my edge at Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2. I was playing last night, trying to unlock the Lotus Spider and thge AI was just killing me. I was in first place only a handful of tiems in the race and I was just sucking all over the track. Maybe it is because I haven’t played in so long or maybe it is jsut that the AI is pretty difficult.

Well on GTA: SA, I’m doing one of those missions where you control a helecopter and shoot down thugs. These missions are fun but the controls on these toy vehicles are a serious pain.

On Katamari Damacy I’m going back to stars I’ve already made and I’m looking for presents. So far I only have two: a crown and a winter scarf.

Front Mission is the shit!

So far I didn’t need much Japanese knowledge to get all the way up to the point I’m at now.

I’m in the 2nd battle in the game that introduces (?) Keith and J.J.

About halfway through Blinx now in the Temple. And it still rocks. I can hold 7 time controls and I have the first level 3 sweeper.

I also finished replaying Ratchet & Clank 1, and I have started to replay the second one.

Next up is Voodoo Vince.

replaying yoshi’s island…trying to get everything 100%. not that hard to do.
also replaying mario world. that is VERY EASY to get everything 100%. i know that game like the back of my hand hehe. after i do those two, then i will move on to mario 3.

Hello. Another year, same old bullshit (and there’s already been a death in the family, quite the pleasant start to 2005). But at least there’s games. Playing:

Phantom Dust (xbox, god I love my modded xbox)

  • sexy, sexy, SEXY quasi-card rpg where you build a group of 30 skills, and battle and shit. Kinda hard to explain, but basically, your skills show up in random order during battle, you collect them and fight it out in various locations, with plenty of breakable objects. In order to use your skills, you collect Aura which is regenerating magic points. Very addictive game, and there’s multiplayer, xbox live, and custom soundtracks. Stateside release at the end of February, so check it out.

GTA: San Andreas (ps2)

  • I beat the game sometime ago and I’ve got about 80 hours logged on it. I finished the import/export missions, and right now I’m just doing random side missions like vigilante and shit. Also, there are some AMAZING glitches you can do. Me and a friend have found a few unique ones, and there’s a big faq on gamefaqs with some great stuff. The one where you can run around headless is very practical because IT SHUTS CJ UP. I’ll share a few if it is requested.

Capcom Fighting Evolution (ps2)

  • Say what you will about this game, but it is goddamn fun beating on Hauzer and fucking around with cool links, as I’m sure you’ve seen in vids by now. No way in hell would I take it seriously, but it’s good for some casual matches inbetween #Reload and MvC2 (if you turn up the speed of course).

There’s probably a few more things I’m playing that I can’t remember, but what can you do.

Million: Good to see you got an xdude. Mod that shit ASAP. It takes some effort, but its a small price to pay for thousands and thousands of games, and a great media center.

God damn ToysR’US has games SUPER cheap right now. The one by my house had a lot of PS2 games marked WAY down.

I picked up the following:

Xenosaga - $3.68 (already own it, but so what PLUS it’s the original and not the Greatest Hit)

Arc The Lad: Twilight of the Spirits - $6.68

Chaos Legion - $6.68

Gladius - $6.68

Not too mention there was other games that were dirt cheap. I mean damn…and unopened copy of the non-greatest hits version of Xenosaga may fetch close to $20 on Ebay. If so…I’m going to clean out the other 10 of them. :]
