The "Currently Playing" Game Thread-Discuss Your Games, Vent, Give Props, etc

Almost done unlocking everything in KOF Maximum Impact. The mission mode was pretty easy (I thought it would be SFEX hard). If they work on a sequel, I hope they emphasize the ground game more. And leave the Japanese voice track in.

I’m going to delve into Suikoden 3 and Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance before tackling HALO-2 (and a few other most play Xbox titles).

MSA is pretty good. its a pain in the ass trying to find the hidden prisoners and items though. You need a good few plays through each level to find em so you don’t waste ammo randomly shooting around the scren to find shit.

I hate suikoden 3. How can they go from such a great game to turning it into shit.

They still need a sequel to Rez and Valk. Profile

I beat Half Life 2 a couple of days ago and the ending wasn’t something I was expecting… I guess you could say I was completely dissapointed with it.

I recently popped in Metroid Prime 2 and its pretty good. Some of the dark enemies are annoying because you can’t strafe without being locked on to them. This little problem reaches its peak as I had to fight the Boost Guardian to get my boost upgrade back. The damn thing was hard to kill, and I am glad I went back to figure out how to get one of the health expansions.

For the past couple of days it’s been nothing but Chrono Trigger. I can’t believe I’m getting back into this game. Just repaired the Masamune and got it back to Frog.

Also on Mission 3 on Gungrave: Overdose. This game is fuckin’ insane!!! Think The Matrix shootouts on crack! All this action for just 15 bucks.

Good gaming going on, Famicom. Chrono Trigger is one of the best RPGS/SNES games ever. And Chrono Trigger>>>>>>>>Chrono Cross.

Stage 5 in Metal Slug Advance is REALLY friggin’ hard. Try as I might, I still can’t beat the boss in that level. Makes me wish you actually had lives in the game. To make matters worse, I found out that in order to get the cards in the game you have to beat a level WITHOUT DYING. :wow: Wehellp, I’m screwed.

And score for me! The last day of '05 and I find a copy of Sky Gunner for only $9.99 used with instructions. I’ve always wanted that game but it was so hard to find. Thanks a lot for making limited quantities of your games, Atlus.

Just finished MGS3, even after seeing it through I don’t like it. I guess part 3s for me this year just didn’t measure up to my expectations…R&C3, Jak3, MGS3…

Think I’m gonna play through R&C2 for the umpteenth time again, that game is timeless. Need something to play while I wait for RE4 and eventually God of War, now that game looks fucking NICE.

Me well. Evil dead fistfull of boomstick, kof 2000 and cfe. Thats all. More games to come when my other games come in the mail.

secret of evermore wasnt that bad. it did suck compared to secret of mana though

In the new issue of Gamepro, there’s a poll or survey or something in the back about the top 10 RPGs of all-time. Pokemon games are the top 5.

Also, the new MK is a finely crafted game according to them. :wtf:

I haven’t bought a Gamepro in many years now…I considered picking up one yesterday, just to see what kind of stuff they had on Halo 2…but nah.

I’ve made another profile, and am going thru Halo 2 again…on Normal again. (SPOILER BLAH BLAH-----) I can have fun on that setting…Heroic is where the game begins to seriously kick your ass. I’m having a much easier, fun time now since this is my 2nd time through. I beat the Heretic Leader in mere seconds. Speaking of which…it would be cool to have some of these other “skins” to play, like Heretic Leader. He looks cool. Of course the glowing would make you an easy-2-see target though…it would be nice to have other playable options to, like a random Marine, or even that “Action Jackson” guy. Oh, and the potentially coolest would be…FLOOD! I’d like to have that super-jump they do, but I realize that would most likely unbalance the game. Everyone would play a Flood character, and super-jump all day, while the Chief/Arbiter players have to try to shoot at the sky 90% of the time. It would be cool to play as Flood at least one time though…perhaps a limited downloadable content thing…

hmm…I wonder what tiers would be if every character in the game was playable, with their usual abilities…minus the Prophets? Heretic Leader can fly…Grunts are small but seem too slow, Flood have the cool super jump + powerful slash move, Brutes have the Retard Berserker Charge…interesting.

GTA Double Pack will be mine sometime this weekend. I’ve already started assembling my custom tracks…in addition to Burly Brawl from Matrix, I put some hilarious songs on my HD by this guy “Jimmy the Pervert”. He was a local country-singer who released a comedy-song album that had some of the most funny, disgusting, perverted songs ever. How can you go wrong with tracks like this:
“Head to the Dead”
“I Thought I Pooted”
"Ooh, she Pooted"
You know it’s gold when a song starts off like “Uncle Ace was a pervert…he liked little baby girls…

Currently I’ve been playing a lot of:

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection (3rd Strike)
Sonic Mega Collection Plus
Guilty Gear X2 #Reload

I’ve also been playing a lot of “other games” on my computer.

Though that may be the case, I’ve been sitting on this game for two years (no telling how long I’ve been sitting on part two), so I thought I’d play it before getting to the meat and potatoes of the Xbox releases this year (DOA Ultimate, Halo 2, Fable and Splinter Cell PB).

I had a few unopened games (Tales of Symphony, GTA San Andreas and Outrun 2) from the Toys R’ Us Buy Two get One free sale a few months back, so I took 'em around town to see if I could trade them in. I managed to get Viewtiful Joe 2 (PS2), Metroid Prime 2 and pre purchase Resident Evil 4. I thought it would be hard to exchange them to the local stores, since I didn’t have a receipt, but the 'ol Christmas gift ruse worked perfectly.

haha wait til you get to the end, people will be small compared to what you’re rolling up =)

i been playing NARC on Midway Arcade Treasures, is it possible to beat this game without continuing 100 times? There’s always like 20 guys on the screen at once. Also reliving youth with APB, I loved that game when I was a kid. and a lil mario golf on the GBA, but it gets repetitive quick =(

Waiting on Tekken 5
Gran Turismo 4 with Logitech wheel
Midnight Club 3

May buy DBZ B3. I don’t know, cause I bought the first on release day, and ended up trading it in immediately, and when I saw the second one using the same character frames, I decided against getting it. The third looks good enough to get.

whoah! (heh, Neo impression) They’re porting GTA: San Andreas over to Xbox?!? I just noticed there’s a Gamefaqs messageboard for it, and there’s already quite a few topics over there discussing it…

I had a feeling it would eventually come to Xbox, but this is still great news for me. It’s 1 more reason to avoid Ps2. And…I just happened to pick up the old gtaDouble Pack today. I haven’t started any missions yet…I’m just wreaking havoc, and enjoying the few songs on my Custom soundtrack. Now I have to load up some TV themes, so I can do things like have a shootout with the police with the theme to Hillstreet Blues playing in the background…or WKRP in Cincinnati. I’ve already stolen a police car for the simple pleasure of starting a high speed chase situation, and running over as many people as possible on the sidewalk…with Matrix Reloaded’s “Burly Brawl” playing on my custom radio. I just got on the net for a quick sec. to look up some codes for weapons and the tank and all that good stuff…and there it was…a whole board of topics about Xbox GTA San Andreas.

*sidenote—I never knew there was a bird’s eye view on GTA3…was this also in the original ps2, or something new for the Xbox version? It takes me back to the old GTAs, which is a good thing of course.

I’m now spoiled by the more advanced fighting options in True Crime, even though it’s overall an inferior game and GTA was the original. In TC you had some real combos, and a nice variety of attacks…and even “slow-motion moves” for extra dramatic effect.

The old school GTA view was in PS2 as well. Oh, even though they have a board at gamefaqs, it’ll probably still be until October before XBX gets that game. They add boards based on whims anyways.

I just read in some random topic about June being the possible release.

Oh, and from the codes section, is this:
“Right, Down, Left, Up, L, White, Up, Left, Down, Right Wear Any Outfit”
^is that the “character swap” code? I remember there was a code on ps2 to change “GTA guy” to other character models.

Whatever the case, that code there isn’t working…from what I’ve seen…it hasn’t done anything. I remember that code was fun on ps2…it’s like a bonus playable characters situation. You could be police, random pimps, hos, FBI, etc.

*sidenote–a computer fresh off “sleep” mode is slow slow it’s rediculous. the sentence finishes appearing EIGHT seconds after I’m done typing.

*the TANK is beautiful. This type of destruction takes me bak.to the good ol days of my first experiences with GTA1and2. The police just couldn’t stop me…I forgot the tanks NOT invincible though, and I eventually blew up.

I just got my Playstion2 Tales of Destiny II (jpn). omfg, this rpg looks too friggin sexy. i’ve already deciphered/translated most of the menu system, so battle/skill system is all understood.

its just the story which still gets past me… too much kanji for me. currently pointlessly levelling up… just getting to grips with the battles whilst continuing with my japanese learning

As mentioned above I traded in my still sealed PS2 GTA San Andreas, since I heard the Xbox version was coming out in June. I’m probably not going to play it from now until then anyway.

And I was wondering. Has anyone played the Metal Gear One disc included with the Import MGS Twin Snakes Game Cube Bundle? After playing, Snake Eater, I really wish Konami would release that here or remake the first (which is what they should’ve done instead of Twin Snakes). It seems like the old Nintendo version (which I still have) was a little different from the MSX. You never fought Metal Gear, and the fight with Big Boss was lame and made no sense (of course, now I now it’s your pappy).

Konami, remake Metal Gear one and two.

Just got done beating Sword of Mana. I’ve been playing it the past few weekends and I actually finished a game that I started without much of anything else getting in my way. Sure it only took ~15 hours, but I’m glad that I did.

I must say I was very impressed by the game. Sure it was super-easy (brownie ring+ninja master+power up=bosses dead in a few hits) and the menus were annoying, but the redeeming quality for me was the story. The story wasn’t rich in detail and it lacked a lot of character devolpment here and there, but the fact that Final Fantasy Adventure had next to no plot, really makes this game shine. I wasn’t expecting the ending at all. Just goes to show you don’t need tons of plot twists or countless hours of character development and backstory to truly appreciate a well thought out and followable storyline.
