The "Currently Playing" Game Thread-Discuss Your Games, Vent, Give Props, etc

heh, I also beat Leo the long way on my first time. I only glanced at the faq to see how to hurt the guy in the first place—getting “on fire” with the rocks so I could actually hit him, and not worry about the big fire he shoots everywhere. From there I went on my own…Leo goes into spin, and I would jump over and SlowZoomStomp…I think the shockwave would keep hitting as I’d go into a constant spin kick.

Of course, I could probably ONLY have gotten away with that in Kids mode, since the VFX lasts all day. I didn’t read all the way into the Leo strat because I don’t like to depend on FAQs for anything. :stuck_out_tongue:

–SMASH BROS. MELEEEEEEEEEEE!!! — well, finally got 1000 Vs. matches now, so I have the Food trophy. I now realize after zooming in on it that they use actual pictures of food. Something about that amuses me. It’s a REAL cup of coffee, REAL turkey, REAL apples, a REAL burger, etc. haha…that trophy looks delicious.

–I just can’t get over it…the fact that Mewtwo sucks so much actually gets to me…I’m actually a little pissed about the whole thing. The developers did that to him on purpose…sure you can’t make a fighting game with different characters who are all perfectly balanced…someone on the roster has to be crap, but come on. Some of the stuff regarding Mewtwo is just goddamn stupid. Some people say tiers and such don’t really matter until you get to high levels of play…but I’d bet money that 2 first-time players of Melee will realize within the first hour or so of playing with Mewtwo that he’s obviously one of the worst characters on the game. M2 even sucks against cpu characters…it’s just sad. Of course, random people from Gfaqs would never admit that last comment, as most of them brag all day how they could beat on lv.9 cpu characters with ease…with any character on any stage, in any situation, hardly taking any damage. Surrrrreeeee. I admit shit though…against the cpu, I have more trouble winning with M2 than ANY other character on the entire roster. I really like the character, so it just sucks that much more to me. I would be happy if Mewtwo were at least a “middle-ranked” character…something at least halfway decent to play with. If they changed ANYTHING about Mewtwo, he would pro’ly be one of those middleground characters…they could’ve make him faster, OR given him more priority, OR make his reflect move actually work PROPERLY…OR make him not so easy to knock around, OR make his jumps less “floaty” and slow…etc. Any slight change would’ve made Mewtwo so much better.

I wonder…who sucks more…Mewtwo vs. Pichu? I’m was kinda leaning towards M2 sucking more ass when I thought of this small rant last night…but I forgot that Pichu REALLY sucks too. At least Mewtwo has some kind of range to speak of…he could actually HIT people with his tail attacks or with body-spark. Pichu has problems hitting anything, really.

I never understood how Halo was revolutionary. Quake, Doom, and UT were all around before it. I just don’t see what Halo has to offer when being compared to UT2K4.

Melee ----strange, I just did Adventure mode with Mewtwo, and I did the turtle shell trick on the first stage…but at the end of it I only got about 200,000 something points!?! It’s like the game “forgot” to factor in all that extra damage…I was pretty sure I remembered to do it, my short term memory isn’t THAT bad…and I kept it up for awhile…

M2 must have some of the worst priority in the entire history of fighting games. It’s as if just about everything he does can get completely shut down by anything other characters can do. Pitiful.

Halo — I got two little Master Chief action figures a couple of weeks ago…2 in one package for about 5 bucks. The bigger MCs look better of course, but I didn’t feel like spending that much money(15 bucks) on one action figure. Of course, my jinxed luck dictates that that particular action figure will simply cease to exist by the time I do feel like buying it…just like that cool little big-head Akuma figure from years ago.

Quake 4 is in the current Computer Gaming Review magazine, I think. I saw it a few weeks ago, but once again…didn’t feel like spending much money. It looks incredible of course…but in my quick scan of the article…I didn’t see my beloved Xaero character.

Edit*—back on Melee …would ya believe…some people actually believed TMOG/Son of TMOG’s claim about NDC with Pichu? That was great. See, the Melee Gfaqs boards just aren’t that entertaining anymore. Still…that sparks up the mood to go observe again…there was a moderately funny Mewtwo thread recently, but I forgot to keep checking it…time to play out my role as “The Watcher” yet again…

damn november is a HOT month…

MGS3
Jak 3
Ratchet and clank 3
Prince of Perisa 2
Blue nocturne (something like that from atlus is getting good ratings)…

Same here, I’d take Doom 2 or Goldeneye over Halo anyday. Halo seemed kinda like a dumbed down Half-Life to me. Still some good mindless fun though.

A friend of mine went all out and called ownership of the 5’ Halo 2 standee at the EB over here.

BTW, playing Romance of the Three Kingdoms IX and a little of the Chinese Romance of the Three Kingdoms X until Halo 2 comes out in 6 days.

I’m growing more and more impatient as I wait for pay day to come so I can buy GTA:SA and GTAA. 3 more days to go. And since I have Saturday off, I can goof off with both games!! W00t!!

I played some DBZ: SW tonight. I hardly ever get high power levels with LV2 Gohan but I did against Cell. I straight mopped the floor with him. Cell got in one good hit and the rest of the fight was me hitting him with Kamehameha Waves, punck/kick combos and ki blasts. When the fight was over, I had a power level of over 30 million. The highest I’ve had was with Piccolo with over 60 million but with LV2 Gohan, over 30 mill, well, that’s pretty amazing.

I just beats Episode 5 as Silvia last night. This was the first level that I’ve had a hard time with so far on this second play-through. That first jet is just so hard, because of how fast it moves coupled with how long it takes to stun the black Biancos, and made even worse by still not having any extensions to your VFX guage yet. Whupped Alastor’s ass, though. IMO, easiest boss in the game, by far. Even easier than Charles III.

Playing NBA Live 04’. My team = The Spurs. Wins = 48-0 during the season. ( seriously… ).

Current rating is at 92.

Holy crap, Gradius V is incredible. I just got owned by the Asteroid boss.

Been playing DOAU non-stop lately. This game is too much fun and kick ass! Anyone who has Live should own this game. My favorite Live game and one of my favorites for the Xbox.

R&C3…is easily gonna be taking up most of my free gaming time, sorry GTA SA, but you’re outta there! :bgrin:

You mean the boss in the asteroid stage? Yeah, that thing always ends up owning me. For free even. Doesn’t matter if I’m fully powered up. If there’s a person alive, or even a robot that can beat this boss without dying, I want to meet him/her/it.

I started Advance Wars on Weds. Oh. MAN! I’ve had this game for like 2 years now and I just started playing it. FREAKING AWESOME!!! I’m only doing the Field Training but it still kicks so much booty. I’m even digging the small overhead visuals. And you can save in the middle of missions as often as you want. VERY cool.

Did you get the Gradius V DVD with pre order? If not it has the first 5 levels done without dying once. :wow:

I’m playing GTA:SA right now. My characters all buffed-out and tattooed up.

I just got done beating one of the best missions I’ve played so far in this game. The Russian Mafia(?) was chasing me, and the Terminator 2 homage was kick-ass.

I’ve actually gradually began to get the hang of this fight. It’s still fucking hard, but I’m only dying one or two times on a good day.

As far as I can tell, the trick is to not shoot unless you are in front of the core. That way, more asteroids survive for you to hid behind at the top/bottom of the screen so you can get onto the other side of his streams of white bullets. Also, to avoid (when possible) moving all the way to the left side of the screen; otherwise an asteroid can pop out and kill you.

And don’t get missiles. The game adjusts difficulty according to which weapons you have, and with missiles, it’s an almost unfair jump.

So yeah, Stage 5 = possible. Stage 6, I’m not so sure about…

EDIT: Fixed stage numbers. 5 = asteroids.

Been catching up on FFX.

Currently in: Mt. Gagazet after getting bummed out by seeing Yuna and Tidus make out to “Suteki Da Ne”

Started Playing: FFX, Devil May Cry, GTA:San Andreas  , MVC2.
Pretty Good all around. FFX, isn’t what everyone hyped it up to be, though.

Finished playing Phantom Dust on the OXM demo. Haven’t played online but made it through most of the missions. I’ll take this online tomorrow, but so far it seems like a pretty solid game and I hope it gets released here in the States. Game feels more like an fps but in third person which will turn off some people, thus making it a niche game if it makes here. Still…a solid game, even tho’ some things have me confused about some of the powers, but oh well I’ll figure it out. Like how the enviroments come in to play as well!

shin megamei tensei nocturne fable and front mission 4 fable straight goods but people keep on callin me chicken chaser
