Pay day is fast approaching. Which means GTA: SA and Midway Arcade Treasures 2 will soon be mine!!! Until then, I continue with Iridion II. I’m clearing missions like I’m a total ace.

Must be the easiest shooter ever :razzy:

Heh it’s got it’s tough spots but not very many of them, really. It’s easy but fun. I finished it early this morning. Not sure what GBA game to play next. Either Advance Wars or Astro Boy: Omega Factor. Or maybe I’ll get back into Mega Man Battle Network. When I left off, I was making my way to face ElecMan.

Not sure what to play on PS2.

I can’t help the temptation…lately I’ve been thinking about at least trying the RV Challenge with ALASTOR!:wow: I get more RVs than usual now of course…and it’s getting me to imagine just how awesome it would be to have a Super Alastor as well as Super Blue to occasionally brag about.

*damn, that one room in 3-2 with the electro-Guards and the Bianco Billys and fish…that’s one of the hardest rooms in the game for RV, imo. I’m STILL stuck there with Joe at the moment. It’s hard to get the Bianco Billys to cooperate and shoot from just the right position so I can kick a bullet back, and then kick them into the guards in Slow. If I could just pass that again with Joe, I’m sure I’d be well on my way to unlocking Super Joe in the next few days.

Well, I finally managed to procure a copy of Viewtiful Joe myself. I went into a Gamestop while I was up in Springfield, and they had the Player’s Choice cheap release version there. I didn’t know that VJ was slated for re-release just yet, but I snapped up the only copy that they had. I tried playing the first level, and this game is surprisingly harder than I expected (I started with Adults, not Kids). On my third continue, I made it to some helicopter boss, but when it kicked my ass I went to bed because it was already 2:30 in the morning.

So, Million, what exactly is the reward for completing Rainbow V? You said you have a “Super” version of the character now, but what does that entail?

I also picked up a shirt at Hot Topic. It has a close-up of OG 8-bit MegaMan (pixelated and everything) doing a jump, and behind him are the sprites for the bosses from MM2. The bottom of the shirt says “I beat the 8 Master Robots!” I’m wearing this right now, and I love it.

If you create a character named “PITA” and then load that save file, everything becomes unlocked (all maps, all game modes, all characters, all weapons, plastic-rendered models option). Then try going to the options area and turning off the Personal Weapon box (the “!” one), but leave each of the personal weapons turned on as regular weapons. This is the best way to play the game, IMO.

Also, do you know the quick spin-around trick? I’m not sure that hte manual mentions that. If you press brake and a direction, you’ll do a fast spin in that direction, allowing for quick 90s, 180s, and even 360s if neccesary. That’ll help a lot.

Oh, and pay attention to all the animations and stuff. The thing that I really loved about this game was the graphics. There are tons of little quirks to the animation that makes it really look like a cartoon. Especially fuck around with the sheep on the “Wild, Wooly West” and “Lunarcy” maps. Plowing through them and knocking them around is great, and you can also hit them with weapons for more fun. Light them on fire with the lasers, wood-chip 'em, harpoon them for “sheep-kabobs”, etc.

No kidding! I don’t understand why anyone would treat their games like that. I refuse to buy used games if the boxes or discs are in as bad a shape as you make that one sound.

Earlier this week, I bought a brand new copy of Ninja Gaiden, but the corner of the box had a huge chip taken out of it, making a hole into the box. And part of the plastic cover and title insert was torn off. I took this back to the store with the reciept and said that I wanted to exchange it for a new copy, and the lady gave me hassel about it. Said the disc wasn’t damaged, so what was the problem. I told her that I wanted my stuff to look brand new, and besides the hole would allow dust into the case and that could possible scratch the disc in the future. I had to argue with her for about 10 minutes before she finally let me exchange it for another copy of the same game.

Rainbow Challenge gives you Infinite VFX power. After completing the challenge, you go to make a new game…highlight the name of the character you did RV with, and hold “Z”…and it says “Super” next to the name. Unfortunately, there is no visual difference…the only change is that your VFX bar will never go down except for when you do a “Matrix-Dodge” in Slow. It would’ve been so tight if the super characters had their special aura, or perhaps a slight costume change or something…(Blue would have his blue aura from those times when you fight him…Alastor would have the purple aura…Joe could have red, and perhaps Sylvia could have that aqua-blue color…? There would potentially a problem though with how Super Joe looks when he’s supposed to be “on fire”…)

About difficulty…a lot of people would say it’s best to start on Adults, but I don’t see the problem with starting off on Kids difficulty. I did that and still love the game…in fact I love it now more than ever since I just completed that RV challenge, and finally beat Adults mode with Alastor. Adults is probably rediculously hard for someone playing the game for the first time…it would probably turn a lot of new players off, actually. Kids is still moderately challenging for a 1st timer(*it’s probably the equivalent of “Normal” difficulty on other games), but nothing to make you start throwing controllers and punching things…you beat that, and then have an idea of how to go through the higher difficulties without much of a hassle.

that megaman shirt sounds cool. In my opinion, Classic Megaman > Megaman X stuff. I just prefer the more simplistic design concepts tha were used in those earlier MM games. MMX characters tend to look a little fruity and overdone usually.

-Cel Damage —so far, I like that gangster Duck character…I think the name is Fowl Mouth. It really has nothing to do with actual gameplay things…I just like the character itself, and how he’s in black and white like he’s straight out of those old cartoons.

Since I got Xenogears the other day, I didn’t know things would get so much better than before. Earlier tonight I copped a Non-Greatest Hits copy of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

All I need is a replacement for my Suikoden II and my PS1 collection is back on track.

Today is the day I get my copy of Midway Arcade Treasures 2. I can hardly wait! I’m going with the PS2 version for the good button layout for MKII & MK3. I can’t wait to see what APB is all about and play some Total Carnage.

I’ll have to wait on buying GTA: SA because after paying bills and such for this week, I don’t have as much as I’d like to have. Sigh. Oh well.

Yeah it sucks waiting and going through those pitfalls of “should I get this game now” just cuz you had to involuntarily give up alot of dough.

Anyone who still got a NES, I COMMAND you to check this out…or I’ll kill you…nah j/k lol

Seriously this is beyond incredible. Y’know the old NES games that one got coverage from game magazines then got scrapped? This guy did some biz left long unfinished. You can even play the translated versions of Japanese favorites. He converted them to cartridge so you can play on an actual NES system.

Now as for what i played recently:
>Project Horned Owl (PS1) -Best Light Gun Shooter game ever!
>Vision of Escaflowne (Japanese PS1)

well, perhaps I was expecting too much.

I was at a friend’s house last night, and played Xmen Legends. From the positive commentary on the net, and just the basic premise and structure of the game…I was sure this would be great, but somehow it kinda went wrong. Basically, the game was just “okay” with me…not really good, but not horrible…perhaps a 5 out of 10 from what I played so far.

-Please tell me there’s an option to play in what is now considered the “classic” costumes?! The new Xmen costumes that have been in the comics since those damn movies just plain suck, imo. At least in terms of the game…sometimes I actually got confused for a sec., cuz everyone tends to look the same in those boring black/yellowhighlight costumes.

-nitpick: those headshots by energy and mutant power meters are butt-ugly.
-Wolverine looks silly. Why did the artist give him a “Biscuit Head”? Back on the costumes…leave the black shit for the movies when it’s time for real actors to play the characters…games and comics should continue using the older costumes, or variants on those classic themes.

-it just came off as boring. This is really strange…because I LIKE these hack/slash/shoot style “rpgs”. I was thinking there’s no way you could go wrong here – hack/slash RPG + Xmen franchise = AWESOME. Some areas seem sparse with nothing to do…and others are loaded up with enemies…which reminds me…
-those bullets and things were hard to see. Apparently some enemies could shoot from off-screen, and you just die before knowing what’s going on…or did my friend just not have a clear-enough picture on his tv, or was it just me?

-Again, is it just me, or does Iceman really do suck? I’m inclined to think the character just isn’t that good, as I kept dying with him…but with ANYONE else I had a much better time against the enemies. Wolvie seemed to have the advantage at least early on due to his natural heal factor. Shame…Iceman is one of my favorite Xmen characters.

-what my friend explained to me is all a blur at this point…but really…you HAVE to be Wolverine in the beginning?! That kinda sucks…I was thinking that you could have a choice of who to play right from the start, just like oh… ANY other action/RPG with multiple characters. And again what’s up with that Buscuit Head? I could help but chuckle whenever they showed a closeup on Wolvie during a loading screen. It really looks goofy.

---------------------outside of game complaints…

sidenote–seems like Cyclops got shortchanged with the whole mutant powers deal. It’s like every other Xman had interesting mutation EXCEPT this guy. He has a cool natural optic laser…but what else? Aside from this, he’s just a human being in really good athletic condition. He can’t even really control the lasers without a device or Jean/Xavier’s psychic help. By himself…with no device…the lasers would just be on constantly. I think everyone else got a better deal.

…well, except Beast. He just looks like a freak and has increased strength and agility…that kinda sucks too.

  • yes, you can unlock the comic costumes: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox/code/36595.html

  • Iceman doesn’t suck, as he’s more of a “benefits for the other characters” person. He slows down the enemy for a period of time, which really comes in handy and he’s a bridgemaker.

  • Beast sucks in this game (I never really liked him anyway)

too many games…

man it’s been a while anyway, been keeping myself busy with tons of games.I just picked up Burnout 3 and Neo Contra last night, and burnout 3 has to be the best racing game ever, the graphics are sick and have to be the best i’ve ever seen in the genre. and needless to say Neo Contra is nuts. They’ve added a new evade system into it which is o.k but kind of ruins the point of Contra.Moving on Gradius V is another game i’ve recently picked up, good god that game is hard the multiple/power-up system is good.It revolves around the idea of picking up power capsules to move down the line of power up options. But in two player what usually ende up happening is your partner will pick up the power up capsule you may need and you’ll prolly die.Viewtiful Joe…there’s nothing i can say that has been said. GGXX,CVS2,3S, and PoP:SoT, inbetween.

I finally got a PS2. Until Alien Hominid ships, I’m keeping myself busy with FF9. Oh, and Paper Mario 1.

EDIT: I love fighting Jr. Trooper. He’s so wonderfully incompetent.

i been playing la pucelle tactics episode 2

not knowing japanese makes it impossible to know what’s going on but oh well

and last night was playing GTA: San Andreas, i never played 3 or VC and i didn’t like it too much

After waiting an extra 3 days for Otogi 2 to ship, I picked up my copy at EB. O2’s constant mystic hack’n’slash action lured me in pretty easily. It’s like a perfect fusion between Dynasty Warriors 3 and Ninja Gaiden. This has to be one of the best XBox games out there. One small thing – the constant life dwindling is really pissing me off. I’ve heard it was even worse in Otogi 1, but this life deterioration aspect of Otogi needs to be taken out. Otherwise, Otogi 2 is a killer game.

I would’ve picked up Neo Contra, but after playing a demo of the game, I saw how shitty the gameplay is. F that.

DOA Ultimate next week anyone? I pre-ordered a copy yesterday and got a kickass wallscroll. It’s hanging right next to my beloved Ninja Gaiden wallscroll. Tecmo is really into wallscrolls, eh?

As mentioned in another thread related to GBA, I got my dirty little hands on a Japanese copy of Final Fantasy 1 and 2 Advance. Got to play it before anyone else on American soil.

I’ve done it. I’ve finally opened up my copy of Astro Boy: Omega Factor. Now I’ll start off by saying that I’m reallying not seeing the “WOW, THIS GAME IS TEH BEST GAME ON GBA EVER IT TEH ROXXORSSZZS!!” thing that many others have seen in it. More power to those people. That being said, Omega Factor really is a fun, old-school type of game. I really like the fact that you find people to build Astto’s “Omega Factor,” his soul that allows him to feel emotions. Not only does Astro experience new feelings for the first time, but finding characters allows you to uprage him to make him more powerful. The story is very intriguing and I’m even more excited to learn more about Astro Boy in general. The game looks amazing and it does a good job of mixing action with shmup elements.

Saturday I scored good by finding Metal Arms: Glitch In The System for the PS2 for $9.96 at Circuit City and Mark of Kri for only $4.96 there as well. I played the demo of Mark of Kri and didn’t really get into but I think my dad would really enjoy it so I’ll give it to him as a gift when he gets back from FL next week.

I finally have Midway Arcade Treasures 2 for PS2. I’m not gonna play it until Sunday night once Church is over and I won’t have to go anywhere.

Great News guys! With DOA, Outrun and GTA dropping this week, now would be a good time to take a little trip to Toys R’ US who is having their annual buy two get one free sale. I’m probably going to spend hella bucks, but I can finally catch up to some of the games:

SVC
GGX2R
MKD
Mario Kart DD
Paper Mario
Madden
Fable
ETC

Once again, Otogi 2 is awesome. Anyone else here play it? If so, what’s your highest combo? Mine is 1,377 hits with Tsuna at the Prison of Stone.

Since we’re talking about future games now, I might as well compile a quick list of the next couple games I’ll be picking up.

This week: Dead or Alive Ultimate
November 9th: Halo 2
November 12th?: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
December: King of Fighters 2002/2003, Gran Turismo 4, Capcom Fighting Evolution
Q1 2005: Jade Empire, Resident Evil 4, Shadow of Rome, Devil May Cry 3, Romance of the Three Kingdoms X

I’m still playing Astro Boy: Omega Factor, but right now, I’ve really gotten into Midway Arcade Treasures 2. I got jacked in MKII in the first fight by Scorpion. Thank God for infinite continues. Of course once I beat him, I found a whole new mountain to climb with Millena. Yeah, she was tough to beat at times on the SNES version but in this game the broad is ridicously tough. It is hard for me to get in an uppercut on her because most of the time I get thrown. MK3 is easier. Lui Kang is still my boy and I totally forgot how cool the combo system was in MK3. In both games I’m going to have to relearn the controls. I keep forgetting to use the shoulder buttons to block.
