So I got KoF:MI, and have been playing that. So far, I’m quite impressed. It seems much deeper and more diverse than any other 3D fighter I’ve ever played. Mai and Leona look great, even better than they used too. And I like how one of Leona’s alternate outfits makes her look like Blue Mary, since Blue Mary herself didn’t make it into the game. Yuri’s new outfit is also really good. And Terry is as cool as always, and being able to use both his FF and his Garou outfit in the same game is really cool.
And I have a new love. Mignon. At first, I thought she looked retarded. But then I discovered that her alternate costum is a cat-chick outfit. And her third color scheme for that is a leopard-print bikini! Plus, she’s got a decent keep-away game. Yep, in a 3D fighter. Too good!
Also playing Billy Hatcher. So far it just seems average. Nothing special, but not bad. Blah, Sonic Heroes is way better. Stick to a sequel for that, Sonic Team.
I’ve been playing the Rainbow 6: Lockdown demo for about 3 days now, and I just can’t get into the game.
Even without the demo’s missing sound effects (most noticeably for grenades altogether) and awful framerate (for people interested in the full product: pray to God this is fixed in the final version), theres little to like here.
The character upgrade system is interesting, but ultimately pointless (as in a majority of players will have stats maxed out for each character type in no time, so there may as well be no upgrades at all).
The graphics seem to be a giant step backwards from Ghost Recon2 and GR2: Summit Strike for some reason, with character models and environments looking just above par.
I may rent the full version to see if anything is fixed, but the demo makes it out to look like a bad game.
I unlocked another planet on Meteos. My playtime is now more than 5 hours. Maybe I’ll have to check the net for guides. I guess there are more planets to unlock than I thought. I went to my parents house to get my laundry and I let my dad play Meteos. He must have played for more than an hour.
I also picked up the Sonic Gems Collection. Screw the haters, I enjoyed Sonic R when I played it on PC and I’ve wanted to try out Sonic Fighters. I also liked Sonic Triple Trouble on Game Gear.
I got vacation coming up at the end of this week so I may just goof off and search for some good low priced games. I saw Viewtiful Joe 2 on GC for $14.99 at GameStop. Maybe I’ll pick it up but the bills are a calling. Bills. Sigh. They suck.
Hello. I picked up Advance Wars: Dual Strike during my lunch break at work today. Let’s just say I didn’t get any work done after 1:00. I also picked up Nintendogs: Chihuahua and friends because I’ve been anticipating that sim for months. I named my Yorkshire Terrier puppy Hector. Uh, that’s about it. Good day, sirs.
I brought my laptop to the arcade and got some King of Fighters 98 action on Kawaks earlier with a few other dudes. One guy was beastin’ on the keyboard, I can’t do that! We had a slammin’ time!
Ahh the power of the laptop/notebook. You’ll be surprised if you’re lucky enough to dig up competition through playing a few matches or showing them a match video or two.
Except that I can’t STAND the dubbing for that game. Forget DBZ…the worst dubbing is in KOF: MI. Kyo saying “Try this…ON FOR SIZE!” during the Orochinagi sounds like I just tuned in some corny episode of the Power Rangers. :xeye: And why does Athena pronounce her name “A-teen-ah”?
And they mispelled “Clark Steel” to “Clark Still”. :bluu:
As for Mignon…I make her die in the most horrible ways. Seriously. What kind of twisted mind conjured her? :wasted:
True, the voice acting does suck balls. But I still find the gameplay enjoyable.
Although, I need some help with a challenge. The one where you have to finish a 30% life Seth in one combo with no super. Any fairly simple combos that I could use?
I noticed that too. Pretty stupid.
I was also wondering if K’'s name is actually pronounced “kay-dash” like the stupid announcer guy says. I’ve always thought that it was just said “kay”.
Hmmmm…been a while since I played it. I think your best bets are Iori or Alba on that one.
And yes, actually K’ is pronounced “Kay-Dash”. K9999 is also pronounced “Kay Four Nine”. And Angel is actually pronounced “An-Hell” (Spanish pronounciation).
Finally got my hands on the Sonic Gems Collection. Got GameStop’s last copy so you know what that means. Oh it’s “new” but we opened it up already. Dumb scrubs.
Man, the intro to Sonic CD still rocks. That “Sonic Boom” ditty gets in your head and stays there. The zones in the game are so huge and at times it makes me wonder do I want to to stay in the present, go to the past or to the future? I played Sonic CD on my PC back in 2001 but it didn’t matter how speedy your comp was, it ran slow and choppy. It feels so good to play a good version of the game. Just wish I knew the zones better. In every other Sonic game I’m confident because I know where to go but all these zones are still new to me.
Sonic R. I don’t care what the haters say, I really liked this game and thanks to analog control, it controls a lot better. OK, so turning yourself around when you go the wrong way is a pain but the game runs a lot smoother than it did on my PC. And the tunes rock. I think it might be some form of Euro pop but I really like the tunes here. Screw the haters. Took me forever to get the first Chaos Emerald because Knuckles kept getting ahead of me because I would always snag it on the final lap. So I got it on my 2nd lap and had enough time to get ahead and take first. So far, I have two emaeralds. But that third course, Regal Ruins has so may short cuts and turns. Kinda hard to know where to go.
True, the insturmental versions of the Sonic R soundtrack rock. But the gameplay is pretty shallow and unbalanced, and the controls were always sluggish, though it sounds like they may have fixed that.
And I still say that CD is an overrated game. It has its enjoyable moments, but is inferior to StH2 and S3&K.
I’m gonna get this collection though. Curse being such a Sonic nut.
I played Sonic R and while I don’t think the game is good, it is a nice diversion. I like how you can jump on on the side of the ring and comboing fools on the wall is cool. But then, even though this was made by AM2, it is pretty easy to see that this wasn’t ment to be taken as a serious fighter. Also, it’s nice to know that even in 1996, the whole “insane-cheap” final boss was still well intact, Metal Sonic is a nightmare. Not only is he insanely fast on combos but he’s also packing a laser! A friggin’ laser!!
The way that they translated the Japanese move names and win quotes to straight up English…LOL. The Japanese VA is much better, the voices for the preexisting characters being much closer to home.
“Furious Fandango!”
“Mai like a butterfly!”
And my horrible secret is that I really liked Mignon for a time. :xeye:
