The "Currently Playing" Game Thread-Discuss Your Games, Vent, Give Props, etc

Currently playing a lot of old stuff that. I don’t have anything new to play at the moment. Well, sorta. I have been playing Ristar on the Sonic Collection, which I’d never done before and which is also quite enjoyable. Though pretty dang hard in spots, too.

Also been playing MegaMan Collection games, actual Sonic games from that collection, and logging more time on Meteos. I only need 7 more planets on that and I have everything.

Lately I’ve decided to play RE1 remake on the GC, really great game; graphics still wow me even though I’ve played this so many times.

So after watchign VF Final Tuned matches I decided to finally finish Quest mode in VF Evo. I beat all the arcade before, so there was just this one last tournament in Event Square.

OH MY GOD.

Its like every little bitch I’ve beaten before is there and 100x better. People I could easily beat before I’m having trouble with. I can’t even get past the prelims. So anyone that’s beat Quest mode…what do I get if I place 3rd or better in this last tournament? If its nothing I won’t even bother.

Picked up Outlaw Tennis today. I’m really impressed with the game so far, damn fun to play.

Though I checked numerous times throughout the day, no one was online to play. I hope I see some people online to play soon.

Yaay! We can get on SRK again!!

Been playing a lot of Meteos still. I can last in the 5 minute War Room game but always choke during the 2 minute game!! And I can’t even get past the Launch 100 Meteos game!! Gah!! But I sooooooo love this game. I haven’t loved a puzzle game this much since Tetris Attack.

I’ve also played some Mario Kart: Double Dash!! I’ve completed both the Mushroom and Flower Cup race circuits on 50CC. Can’t wait to play 100CC for higher speed. 57-63 mph just isn’t cuttin’ it. It’s fun to come up with different team combos and double item storage rocks!! And the return of Koopa Troopa…I’m so happy. I loved him the SNES Super Mario Kart. What worries me is the notorious rubber band AI I’ve heard of in DD!! Yeah, rubber band AI is in many racing games but I heard it was just insane in DD!!

“Old” rpg’s: Morrowind and FFX. Fun games.

currently playing fear effect i realized ive never beaten this game

Finally got around to finishing MGS3, don’t know what the hell took me so long, it was great stuff. In fact I even went back to finish MGS2 again (yay for stealth camo!) and then I realised how poorly it’s ending compares with MGS3’s. Can anyone post up a link to the old thread about MGS3 again? I remember it having at least 4+ pages of replies. I’ve tried numerous search terms and all end up giving me squat or a whole bunch of random threads.

Edit. I beat Quest Mode. On Friday night I booted up VF and found I was really in the zone and just blazed through the final tournament. My final match was with a golden Lion named ‘Chibita’ and I KICKED HIS ASS. All I got was another orb and a video.

I’m gonna take one more time to bitch about how mad it makes me that you can’t fight against custom characters from another memory card. That would have made the game so great for vs mode and really lended the game to having more of a scene here.

Still addicted to FFT :x Namco x Capcom is getting a bit repetitive and tiresome towards the end.

Playing at the arcade- MvSF, MvC2, Rival Schools

Started to learn Marvel Superheroes as well. Gems are fun, as well as the Iron Man, Juggernaut, and Captain America of old. Pretty great for a ten-year-old fighter.

bored with my friends copy of sfa3 (playing all alone at 2:45 in the a.m.
at the arcade playin-sf3s (sean pwnrg), just learnin cvs2, and playin watever magnettically attracts my quarters.

lesseee,

just finished Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg. That was surprisingly good. IMO Sonic Team hasnt exactly been producing quality titles lately, but Billy Hatcher is really worthy of the Sonic Team name. Great level design, and fun gameplay. a good buy for platforming fans.

currently playing Alien Hominid. Another great game, and its 2D! I just finished the first world, and now Im off to Russia.

also currently replaying Mario Golf.

Currently playing Tales of Symphonia and loving it. The games story isn’t original, but has been told well so far. The va in the game isn’t great, but it is decent. The graphics are pretty damn good and the gameplay is tight. Why can’t more RPG’s use realtime battle system like the tales series and Star Ocean series?

I am also playing viewtiful joe. The game is good, but hard as hell.

The next games I’m going to get are resident evil 4 and code veronica.

Edit: Billy Hatcher was a good platformer that got no love, just like Jak and Daxter. if you’re into platformers Achan then you should check out Psychonauts, I’ve been hearing good things about it.

Parappa the Rapper, since PtR2 and UnJammer weren’t that great compared to the og.

Dropped all the ps2 stuff just for Dungeon Siege 2. I’m into this more than I ever was compared to D2. But jesus, mp is fucked up. No server saves, so hacked chars are gonna run everything. Which is fine haha. Decent game, nothing spectacular though

Ive been debating on whether or not to get Tales of Symphonia. I havent played any of the other games in that series.
So the battle system is fun?

I really need a new RPG to play. Ive been also thinking about the Shin Megami Tensei games.

and I still need to play Star Ocean.

Playing God of War again, God Mode for the umpteenth time. Also went through Challenge of the Gods again yesterday for kicks, challeneges 8 and 10 are bullshit. Waiting for that new Hulk game, played the demo and it seems pretty fun. Shaolin Monks also was suprisingly fun, reminded me of a poor mans God of War, the co op looks hot though.

akumachan, any thoughts on the new Sly, Ratchet, and Jak games? Deadlocked has me worried, even with mods and customizing, I heard theres only 10 or 12 primary weapons. :bluu:

I was definatly surprised by Shaolin Monks. It seemed like another attempt at the action genre with MK. I ended up liking it alot.

I finally beat RE4 ealier this week, and I must say, it’s one of the finest games of the current generation of games. One of the few games IMHO that truly showed how the hardware can really give us the “next generation” experience.

Just started God of War last night, and it too is looking to be one of the best games of this generation. Very fun, visually stunning, great musical score, but sometimes the hit-detection seems to be a bit off.

Also been playing a bit of Tekken 5 and SFA3 on the Saturn.

Random “oh SHIT THAT WAS TIGHT!” moments of Unreal Championship 2----

*yesterday…against bots of course…there’s 2 in front of me, about medium distance…one to the left, and the other to my right…one shoots a shock core(*I think…I just remember what happened next…)…the other shot a missile at about the same time…I was Jackhammer for a change…“REJECTED! MULTIKILL!”…and that wins the match. I couldn’t believe it…I’m not 100% sure…but …it appears that I rejected both the shock(?) shot and the rocket at the same time in one move, taking both bots out.

…but then there’s the question of “MULTIKILL”…there were only 2 bots if I recall, yet I’m sure the announcer said multikill…strange, but cool.

but basically I’m talking to nobody…it would appear my jinx factor even affects the popularity of some games as well. If I like it…chances are there’s only about 12 people in the country that agree. I wonder if I could single-handedly kill the otherwise guaranteed success of the Ps3 by simply becoming a fan of that too…

edit—and I got my first “IMPOSSIBLE!” on the map Evil Hands. I still say that’s a bullshit map though.

The story in symphonia gets better, but never gets awesome

The characters make that game though-- genis is my favourite rpg character ever. And he also has my favourite rpg spell – “INDIGNATION!” omg that spell is too good

I just beat riveira on emulation. I hella wouldn’t play this on actual gameboy, and the only reason I finsihed it at all was save states. It is ok on emulator though, just be prepared to do a lot of quicksaving

I realize that storywise, my favorite rpg was Shadow Hearts. It was dark and cool and it had that story told by the old woman “squcik squick squick CAW CAW CAW”

anyone that actually played would get what i mean

Anyway, shadow hearts is my favorite RPG for story because in Shadow Hearts: Covenant all the bad guys are scared as fuck of your character because of all the shit you did in the first game. They don’t even call you by your name-- they call you motherfucking “God Slayer”, and all the female characters have these giant titties for some reason.

anyway, gg

oh, jester, I would play god of war again on god mode, but I know that very last part with his wife and kid would be a bitch. Am I right, or is that part not stupid hard?
