For people who dig C&C, check out Act of War - Direct Action. It’s a post-modern, not so far in the future warfare RTS with live action cut-scenes. The graphic/sound is pretty sweet and the gameplay in general is pretty fun.
that new splinter cell is hawt shit. multiplayer rocks the face
vicious, try circuit city
Yo, Alpha here.
For Mystery Goo, just go to Neverland, and go back and forth between the deck (outside) and the rooms near it. Rare Truffles show up regularly on the deck, and they’re hella easy to get MG from by knocking into the air (10 times = 40% shot at MG) and since you can fly in Neverland, keeping them in the air is a cakewalk: take off, hover right near the ground, and target the Truffle. Then, hit it, and when it falls down into range again, smack it again. It’ll pop up, repeat the process (which will take you HIGH into the air) and when he hits 10, take your Goo (and Elixir) and laugh. With practice, this is the BARNONE EASIEST way to get MG. I seriously ended up with around 5 more MGs than I needed to synth everything.
you know i never really thought of going to Neverland for that stuff. I couldnt get the mushrooms to bounce more than 5 times. So I had to do it the long way by battling until they dropped it.
but hmm imma try that next time I play it.
Unreal Championship 2 should be out in a matter of days now. It’s sometime in early April…I forgot the exact date, but I will definitely get it immediately. Whoah…one of my neighbors is cooking something niiiice…the smell is incredible…
anyway, I set a new high score on Mario Bros. today, but it didn’t save, probably because I died earlier than what the record is(phase 27…I died for the last time on 25.) The game hits its rediculous stage around that time…there’s fireballs, ice guys(*fun fact = ice guy was called “Slipice” way back on the Atari 2600 version), and regular enemies all over the place.
Finally started playing the Sega Classics Collection. Here’s my 2 cents on what I’ve played thus far: (Outside of Column & Virtua Racing, everything here is new to me.)
Golden Axe-Not bad but not good either. The action is repetitive in a bad way. The magic spells are cool and riding on monsters is nice but overall, I wasn’t impressed. That being said, it wasn’t the suckfest everyone made it out to be.
Alien Syndrom-Screw the haters. This game is tight. Saving crew members, blasting aliens and killing a huge boss before the bomb explodes is just too good. I love the variety of weapons. The game even keeps track of how many hits you’ve scored on enemies via a combo system. My highest combo: 444 hits on the 3rd boss.
Outrun-I wasn’t impressed by this game at first. It took a few minutes but then it started to click with me. As simple as the concept is, driving on the road with a digital babe beside you, dodging traffic, racing against the clock, this game is actually fun. There’s even an Arranged mode which gives you rivals to race against, which is a nice addition to the standard Arcade mode. There’s also a Time Attack mode, which removes all traffic and pits you on the road against the clock. Not as fun as Arranged or Arcade mode but it is still nice to have it in there.
Not yet (still haven’t even attempted Universe mode myself). And since you mentioned it…
Thunder Flare = stupid broken  (easily the cheapest spell in SO3)
SO3, at Castle Aquaria, about to leave for Bequerel Mine. DMC3, completed Mission 7 in DMD.
I think it’s easier to find those White Mushroom guys and cast the right spell 3 times in a row, since sometimes they spit out a Mystery Goo along with the other stuff they give you.
I just finished Legaia 2: Dual Saga, I put about 50 hours into it in the last week, great RPG in every aspect, I really recommend it for RPG players.
OutRun owns, Reggie. It always did and it always will. If you have an Xbox, get OutRun2. It’s $20 now, and it offers even more of what you like in the first OutRun. You even get different chicks to ride with you. And you can unlock the original arcade OutRun too. I think I’m going to play it right now.
Here’s the lowdown on the Sega Classics Collection.
Good:
Alien Syndrome
Tant R
Bonza Bros.
Outrun
Monaco GP
Space Harrier
So-so/Bad:
Golden Axe
Fantasy Zone
Columns
Overall, the good outweighs the bad on this compilation.
I MUST get that Sega collection if only for the beauty of outrun. I also loved the arcade version of Outrunners.
and if the new Outrun is good I must get that too!!
Lantis: oh yea, i totally forgot about the spellcasting 3 times…
picked up the greatest ps1 game ever: irritating stick.
wont be as good without a trackball, but duel shock makes up for it
jet grind radio(dc)
final fantasy 6
yup, good times indeed!
OutRun2 is greatness. It’s no Gran Turismo when it comes to deep gameplay, but it’s straight up arcade fun. Highly recommended. The mission mode is also a blast, even though I haven’t completed that yet. More people should get this game because whenever I play on Xbox Live, it’s nothing but foreign guys from Europe in my room. Once I got a room with nothing but French guys who talked in French. WTF, did anybody in America other than me buy it?
Hey! I like Columns. And Golden Axe is okay. Not my favorite, but a good time waster when I’m bored of other stuff.
Anyway, my roommate finally finished FF7. How he managed to get through that in four days I’ll never know. When I play RPGs, I just have to take breaks now and then. He just sat there and played and played and played.
But anyway, it was neat to watch. And now I can use the TV again! I’ll prolly try and finish up the X-Box MMAC.
Forget all the negative stuff you heard about the Sega Classics Collection, guys. Outside of a few lackluster titles, this is good stuff.
About Columns. I dunno, the game just never appealed to me. Just wasn’t my cup of tea. Monaco GP is one very fun, surprisingly little game. A good amount of stuff to unlock on it as well.
Most of the negative about that collection isn’t that the games themselves are bad, but that SEGA changed some of the featuers and/or graphics in the games. Which, for people who bought the collection for nostalgia puproses, ruins it.
Virtua Racing on the Sega Classics Collection is awesome!! I played the Genesis version of this game and I liked that but it was VERY hard to control. The verson in SCC, however, has sweet controls and it looks nice (for an 1993/1994 arcade game, anyway.) I’ve never played the arcade version of VR but from what I’ve heard, the version in SCC is arcade perfect. One things for sure: I’ll never play the Genesis version ever again after playing this.
Bump.
Hearing about Wario Ware Touch & Go on the DS got me thinking about playing Wario Ware on my GBA. This game really is the best way to get a quick fix of gaming. I made some new high scores on the Grid this afternoon. But that boss stage where you gotta hit the nail with the hammer is hard when the speed increases. WW may be more addicting than Tetris.
