The Current State of the World thread

nothing has changed? Except for Obama actually tackling the student debt crisis, bankers being put on notice, and Oakland/Atlanta protesters being fucked up by riot police.

He’s ig’nit.

im sure there is a lot of pro and contradictory research but the OECD published research findings in which the results were that income inequality does not play a role in happiness.

i honestly dont understand why people are complaining, cause it’s not fair? a lot of shit is not fair in life. im not going to protest the NBA cause i couldnt be a pro basketball player.

i think they are protesting the wrong shit. netflix is a perfect example of this, if you dont like shit dont buy it and they will feel it. protest all the dumb people who buy stupid shit that make these people rich. you mad about bank of america? stop using them. i dont know i just dont really get what people are complaining about. i dont get complaining in general. fool in my class was complaining that he couldnt have more than 1 bottle of complimentary water, threw a fit yelled at our coordinator and went out to buy some. really? you going to be mad that for one night (resupply had not come in) you cant have more than 1 FREE COMPLIMENTARY WATER BOTTLE, while other people in the world are getting crushed by earthquakes and eating dirt (literally)…ive never understood it.

also, im not really sure what kind of jobs people are expecting out of college. with a business degree straight out of college i worked minimum wage with no health insurance and worked my way up.

im outi

You’ve been conditioned to believe that this circumstance is normal, and that life is inherently unfair. Your opinions are influenced by the world around you (your environment, and your experiences). The whole economic system we are still using comes from a time when we used to believe in and accept things that we have found to be untrue (slavery, racism, etc.). It comes from a time before we even knew about evolution, or before we had any modern technological breakthroughs.

Once upon a time life used to be unfair. We were ruled by kings. Once upon a time life used to be unfair when we were enslaved by others, or when our people were conquered and slaughtered by empires. And in all of these cases we have tried to change things for the better, why should now be any different? I’m sure there were plenty of people who accepted the way things were then too, because its all that they knew. It’s usually people who aren’t seriously affected by any of the distortions and transgressions of society, that tend to think that way.

If you took the time to understand some of the problems facing our society today, you would see that we are again living in a time where we are being oppressed and controlled. (exploitation of “third world” people and resources, manipulation of the system, a “bought” political system, undeclared and shadow wars all over the world, incredibly uneven distribution of wealth, etc.) The list goes on and on man, things aren’t okay right now. That’s why people are actually trying to change things.

So yeah, life in our current society is unfair. I agree lol. So why not change things for the better? Why not take what we have learned, and try and create something better than this archaic system, which serves only the corporatocracy?

While it is true people are shaped by their past experiences, there is no scientific evidence to suggest amassing an excess of goods only comes from society and preconditioning, as opposed to what humans are naturally inclined to do because of evolution.

I think people are naturally greedy. It’s part of our evolution. Since we’re capable of it, some people are more greedy and aggressive than others, given the opportunity. Even though people evolved to share food and resources, they still have this group mentality where they will take care of their friends and family, so greedy about sharing with only their friends and family, people judged to be important.

I think most people are preconditioned to suppress these urges to take power and be greedy, but like I said, some people are just born with a natural predisposition towards being greedy. On top of that, only a few people get a chance to be so rich and powerful, so it’s difficult to say what happens in a human when they are gaining power and don’t take the time to reflect on it properly.

I see so many materialistic people, measuring their worth based on money. It must be natural.

Education and discipline are the only ways to over come this natural greediness.

On some level I am greedy. On some level I lust for power. The reasons and expected outcomes if I had a way to make lots of money are not well thought out and could lead me to becoming the next over rich billionaire. If I was in such a position, when would I realize what I’ve become?

Actually that’s what people are doing. People are taking their money from big banks and putting them in credit union banks on November 5th, although doing so before is just as good.

The notion that people are naturally greedy because it has been evolved into them is a false notion. Just like you can say people being aggressive is a genetic thing.

The have been studies in the animal kingdom that show that instinctual animal nature such as aggression, is affected by the environment. I’m mad because I can’t remember the source, but there was a natural study on some males of a primate species that were introduced to a family group that did not display aggression and actually discouraged it, and at first the males were aggressive and tried to assert their dominance and take more food/mates or whatever. But after a few months, those males had become conditioned by the group not to act that way. Same thing with the Dog Whisperer guy. He takes animals that have been conditioned to be violent, or aggressive, or other behavior problems, and he conditions them by using the “power of the pack” he calls it.

These are only animals though, they are much more instinctual and have less mental capacity than our species.

Who you are is not determined by your genetics. Even physically it’s not always determined by your genetics. There are people with genetic predispositions to illnesses such as cancer and mental illnesses, who will never get them. And there are people with little to no genetic predisposition to them, who do develop them. Every person is affected greatly by their environment.

Please just watch this small portion of this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Z9WVZddH9wt=9m10s

It has to do a lot with what you are talking about. Genetic effects and epigenetic effects, on behavior and health.

TSA Expands It’s Grip

So yeah, they’re going to start groping you on trains, boats, buses, etc. In fact, the TSA has asked for their budget to be increased by 50%. I know a SHIT ton of Canadians who have cancelled travel plans to the US of A because of this stupidity. I would piss in the face of any TSA agent who so much as touches me or any children I had.

what are your opinions on this?

It sounds like it is capitalist propaganda. Capitalism as AN answer, it is not the best answer. Socialism is not the problem, socialism is just in conflict with the capitalist system, and crony capitalism is the worst. I’m not in favor of socialism, or capitalism really, but I’d rather have true (like Austrian school method) capitalism (or even “social capitalism”), OVER crony capitalism. Things need to change, that is the bottom line, and that is the reason for this movement.

The second dude is right. The Occupy movement it isn’t a left wing movement, it’s a populist apolitical movement.

The black dude with I <3 NY shirt was pretty good. He made some good ass points. If he would have just tied in how the strong national government was responsible for the social advances in the last half decade, and how corporations and capitalism could never achieve that he could have completely won his argument. Schiff can’t say anything, because majority of people believe that racism, sexism were not good.

There is some good info in this vid though, for people who haven’t heard or don’t know some of this stuff. Although I’m pretty sure everyone who follows Schiff does lol. I’ll give him this: he knows his capitalism. But don’t forget, this is all biased by the libertarian/capitalist point of view. It’s no reason not to listen or think about it though.

I’m starting to feel that Capitalism does not support any nations, or any of the people. It only supports large corporations, and those people who already have acquired an excessively large amount of money.

Lol @ people still thinking this country is capitalist.

US is some form of hybrid. Has been since forever.

capitalism means you get to vote for your dictator

Capitalism means you are allowed to go through the motions of casting your vote, as if it mattered, by punching a hole in a sheet of paper.

Because: the paper industry.

We should use the flesh of inmates to vote

And I challenge you along with others to watch this, the guys a Bioligist:

But the system would work if everybody put did their part and applied themselves to make the sytem work. I can’t hate the system because I belive in what the system really is. What it has turned into isn’t the systems fault, and it didn’t become this way because the system is flawed. they system is flawed becaouse we the people have allowed it to run amock. To run away from the system and demand a whole new structure is going to do more bad than good.

Its not capitalist which hinders the growth, its people. People chose and allow themselves to be consumed by the love and want of money. And people who allow themselves to be consumed by the allusion of saftey.

As for giving food away, why should we? Why should we the people of the United States, or any nation for that matter give free food away? Why should my tax money go to foreigners? What we should do as people is lead by example. We have the technology and the resources to teach these 3rd world countries how to provide for their people, how to build infrastructure, and give them the opportunity to lead themselves to economic prosperity.

exactly, but you would never work for free. Even if it was what you loved doing the most.

Once an artist enters reality, he no longer creates art for the sake of art. He creates art for the sake of recognition, survival, and validation from others of his decisions as an artist. Simply because of the simple constant of time.
but that simple constant rules us all. We are all bound by the same constant, death = a matter of time. Its true, the only things that truly matter is our decisions and how those decision affect the ones we are responsible too. But our time is limited, and we need compensation for time lost performing services. Money is the best and fairest compensation because it allows for unlimited flexibility when choosing what we want to do for the sake of doing something.

We don’t have time because we choose to live in cities. We choose to do things which in turn come back and bite us in the ass. Life is a constant struggle for survival and attainining the basic neccessities of life. No one should be entitled to free things, however everybody should do thier part to ensure everybody has equal access to the basic needs, but we all know how that’s going on right now. People don’t get the basics because they have chosen not to do so. No one wants to sacrifice and do what needs to be done.

But why do we need to use money to access basic needs? Because we are spending other people’s time with our needs so we need to compensate them for what we take from them.

people throught history have had the basic necessities provided for them. And they still chose to steal, amass excessive goods, and kill when it wasn’t needed. Sure enviorment had something do with it. but what about those cases when those with everything steal everything even thought they had outstanding parents? Those with power steal more power raised by humble parents? those with money, horde goods but they where raised by modest and greatful parents?

Preconditioning influences us all, but ultimitly its my choice. I don’t belive in a universal truth or a universal good. But I do belive in choices, and every choice you do is ultimitly chosen by you and you alone regardless of your enviorment, preconditioning, influences, inhibitors, etc, you are responsible and acountable for your decisions as a man regardless of the situation. rash irrational decisions are made by people every day who fear thier mortality and willingly chose to go to great lenghts to ensure that they aren’t reminded about the inevatibility of the great equalizer. Death.

Even in the gretest of enviorments, the greatest of evils spawn and they often do. Christian Heaven comes to mind.
Its also interesting that money, is the ultimate escape from our preconditioning and enviorment

What would I do? I will still commit myself to the same sacrifices I willingly chose to commit myself to everyday. Sure the basics will be provided, but I don’t want just the basics. I want more so I can give to my children and those I love and care for the absolute best, because they have earned it. They deserve it.

I grew up with an poor family, still am growing up with them. There is absolutly no way they could ever pay for what I chose to do, and I know money is a big issue, but I will do it, and I will make the neccesary sacrafices to ensure that I achive that goal. Money in this world is no issue provided you willingly sacrifice.

Should it be that way? Absolutly not,

but any other system won’t make you accountable for the decisions you have willingly chosen. Yes there are exceptions, like the homeless man who lost everything because somebody has failed him, or circumstance where just truly unfair. Or the unknown soldier who was used by the people to ensuere their lively hoods remain constant and abondoned when he needed those he fought for. The system works because it was designed to work, but we have lost sight of what the system really is, and thus we have allowed it to fail us.

banks hold money, and loan money, they provide an oppurtunity for the average man to follow his dream. But we the people allowed the banks to influence our lives and dictate a lot. We have allowed them to grow uncontrollobly and allowed them to run our lives into the ground because we thought it was all good. We the people have allowed these instititions to run amock because the money was flowing and raining on us.

Yes they are, but they somewhat earned it. They took advantage when we chose to standby and let them aquire wealth because our little bubble was still spaciaus enough for us. But what is it to earn your lifestyle? they earned it becaue they worked for it, any illegal activity they get away with is because we allow it to happen. Capitilism favors the elite by default, but pure capitilism isn’t ideal, and surely isn’t the system we use. As you know our moral standing senators and President like Obama like to use loaded words like Captilism, Patriot, Freedom in all the wrong ways. A system like an economy cannot run on the supreme natuaral law of survival of the fittest because eventually the snake will devours itself.

but at the same time I don’t agree with the idea of redristibution of wealth neither. you can never justify taking money from the few and giving it to the poor.

now im hoping i didn’t go of tangent.

that’s understandable. Life isn’t fair because you have to make choices all the time.

becasue people willlingly have chosen that they alone are entitled to services and other things. However, these people have a right to protest the illegal nature of what these companies did, and the simple fact that they shat on the people of the United States for thier own benifit.

more entitlement and a culture of false realities. A deegree means nothing, all it say is that you can compete with Sang from China. However, jobs should provide some sort of health insurance. Its simply to expensive. But people need to bite the fucking bullet as well and sacrifice to ensure they have access to shit that really matters.

All for the sake of “freedom and patriotism”

I symphatize with this 1%. Assuming he does what he says he does and pays 50% of his pay on taxes I cannot take the 99% seriously. I kept hearing loaded words like

social justice

WTF is social justice? A system where wealth is taken and given to those who chose to take a chance on a art degree? Or a system the rich are taxed 74% of their income?

Social Democracy

Again WTF, why do they want a democracy? Because they are the 99% and the needs of the many outweight the needs of the few. That’s absolute nonsense because nobodies needs outweigh anybody elses. My needs are no more important than the needs of somebody else.

They’re just pretty phrases for a system where there is no private ownership, the government provides everything, and everybody is equal. Equally unhappy and equally poor, that is.

And that ties into something else people of this mindset don’t believe in: the fact that YOUR choices determine YOUR outcome, and a happy ending is not ensured to anyone BY anyone, especially not to some idiot who spent thousands pursuing degrees in nothing practical, only to find that when he leaves college loaded down in debt, people don’t care that you have a degree in debate or some other crap, they want REAL shit like law, accounting and business/business law. I see NO people who were in college for that kind of stuff at these Occupy hippie rallies. No, these college grads are the ones on Wall Street, EMPLOYED. These guys really should be protesting the colleges for jacking up their fees.

Perusing the last few posts in here, I believe I see how shit got to where it has.

It is fascinating how certain morons and/or people born into means, insist that individuals are accountable for the particular circumstances into which they are born, utterly independent of the system.

Your circumstances are your responsibility?

Y’all have done went and drunk that “cruelty-free lemonade”.

I’d be surprised if you didn’t kick the little mulatto girl, while you were at it.
