The Cross Assault thread (link to stream in 1st post)

So what the hell is up with the recap videos, I came home from work hoping to watch the eliminations and the only archived videos are from day 1, and today’s DINNER.
On the IGN page the Recap videos are all the same day 1 video.

THIS IS THE ARGUMENT AGAINST COMEBACK MECHANICS

CAPCOM WHY DON’T DO YOU LEARN

Hey at least everyone agrees that Pandora is ass, lol.

Just go to twitch.tv and type cross assault into the search bar, look for the day you want and you should find it.

That’s my issue with the show.

Capcom had countless Reality/Reality Game Shows to take a blueprint from and either keep it the same or improve it. Feels like they did neither since the show comes off awkward and sloppy.

Though I’m happy at least 2 NorCal players are left. 200 Yen :frowning:

Thanks dude.

Well, they did. But you can’t be expecting a completely professional, Survivor like reality show production from a company that predominantly produces games. The hosting gig is something Capcom will have a hard time getting right the first time, simply because there are nuances to hosting that can’t be learned by just watching reality shows, such as stage presence and charisma. Even if they found someone better for the job, they still won’t be perfect on their first try.

The other problem they would have in getting a good blueprint on how to do reality shows is, that I am making a complete assumption, they don’t have any network with people in the reality show industry to guide them on how to do a proper reality show. So all they’re pretty much left with is watching other shows and hoping to copy them to the best of their abilities without really understanding how to get it done.

Think about it this way, a company that specializes in groceries, all of the sudden wants to develop a video game. I don’t think anyone would expect grocery company A to make a good game, in fact the chances of them bombing it is very high. That’s pretty much what Capcom did there. They specialize in video game development, and all of the sudden makes a jump to TV show production. The first time I heard about Cross Assault and realized it was going to be streamed, I knew immediately the quality of their production would be amateurish.

Why do people even see this as a reality show? I’m just happy with getting to see the game more.

Btw, yesterday’s show isn’t archived yet, right? Missed most of the combo challenge.

Because by definition it is a reality show?

Well yeah, but whining about stuff like the host? Seriously SRK?

It’s on main channel, check out twitch.com/capcommunity

http://www.twitch.tv/capcomunity/b/309624445 - combo challenge around 7.20.

Oh, so they just got the name of the file wrong. Thanks!

Because he is a poor host? Right now that is his job, he isn’t being a producer or a designer or programmer. He is for the moment a reality TV host.

If someone is doing poor quality work at their job why wouldn’t you complain or at least be irritated?

I just don’t see how it matter, who cares about the host?

The host is the foundation of the entire show. If the host is bad, it makes the entire rest of the show look bad.

He’s an integral part of the presentation?

I mean, I get being annoyed by whining, but I’m not sure why you would be surprised that people are commentating on one of the main elements of the show. Are you some sort of joyless robot who watches streams with the sound off because you don’t want any interference with how intense you are watching said stream? I feel like you are trying to come off as HardcoreSeriousFightingGameGuy here, and arguing that people should completely ignore all non-gameplay elements of the show, but that isn’t how real people work. Yeah, there is a lot of meaningless fluff with Cross Assault, including the host, and we understand that, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t going to comment on it. Lighten up a little bit, and smell the roses.

Well, I’m just surprised that people here are focusing on stuff outside of the actual gameplay, that’s all. I figured that was what everyone wanted to see with the show.

Chris Hu should have been the host.

as usually
