Even though we are probably stuck until the end of the show, I think it’s time to put a bullet in the ‘Max as commentator’ experiment. If they want someone to sit next to Spooky and break down the game, get Justin (if available); he is really good at that. Seth and Markman also seem to be hanging around with nothing to do, and both would be a huge improvement over Max at this point. As a final suggestion, consider Alex and Aris; I’d rather hear those two rag on each other and root on their teams than sit through another night of golf commentary.
I think the rule is, it’s not a reality show until someone looks at the camera and says “I’m not here to make friends.”
The entire thing has been advertised as a reality show. Because of this people are going to be watching it and criticizing it as such. I mean why do people watch reality shows? We want to see how the competitors progress throughout the show, how they interact with eachother, all the drama that occurs, and all that stuff, right? As long as a show is even half well made we can enjoy these things, but so far Cross Assault has just come off as cheesy, poorly organised and awkward.
My issues stem from the casting though. Imo, aside from Valle and Aris as coaches, the wrong people were chosen. With $25k on the line I expected to see people going in on the game and getting real competitive, but it hasn’t really happened. In the end the players still look like they are playing Vanilla SF4. If I was watching just for the gameplay, I’d be pissed as hell because everyone’s playing like shit
Then after that I could go into how the lack of clarity on rules and how it’s organised. Like why are the competitors forced to stay after they are eliminated? Most of the guys there don’t even like the game, now they have to play it with no motivation whilst wearing an insulting pink shirt. I don’t get how Team SF can win a challenge and still have to put their guys up against eachother for elimination. They’re a team aren’t they? And yes, the host, Matt whatever is ass
The real flaw with cross assault is the format of the interaction between the stream and the production.
The problem with this show is the lack of content and inability of spooky and haunts to interact with the stream watchers. Spooky will say, “lets take some questions” in a chat with 4000 people, most of them trolling or saying nothing of value. This is not interaction. Its frustrating for spooky because he has to sort through mountains of trash and repeat questions to maybe find one question of value worth asking. Its frustrating for stream watchers because why bother even asking interesting questions.
Do the streamers take question through Twitter as well, or just what comes from the stream chat?

I feel like if Spooky and/or Haunts is/are just taking questions from the stream chat, and are getting frustrated by doing so, that is on them, not Capcom. They should both know what a waste of time that is by now, and realize they are just feeding the trolls by asking for feedback. They should be doing what CrossCounter does; take questions over Twitter, and have them gathered and edited by a stream staff member.
