I know it does more damage, just saying some people like to do things their own way. Not everyone cares about 8 damage.

It´s not only a matter of damage,in my opinion it´s a lot EASIER(at least for me) to do cr.mp>HP gator than lk>mk>HP gator ,also you get 8 more damage, so …

It’s just his preference, I’d imagine… It’s not really working harder if he’s more comfortable with it. I honestly can’t imagine how lk, hp, hp xx GSHP is easier… I guess I’ll have to try it when I get home.

There are other things to consider in you combos, how much life regen they can regain, how much meter it builds, and how much meter it doesn’t spend. 8 DMG? And what else you gotta ask yourself :wink:

Granted, but with a character like Marduk where one dropped combo can mean the difference between completely failing and great success I tend to just want to go for the sure thing. Of course, with a lot more practice I’ll try to optimize that, but right now I think a lot of people just want to go for what they know they can pull off consistently.

I use crouching strong. If I tag cancel I do c.mp, c.mp, srk where if I do it off EX tackle I do c.mp, srk. I find it’s easier to land if you just do qcf*2 instead of the srk motion, not hard to miss at all…

Could someone with the Brady´s guide tell me if this is true?


In this frame data close.HK seems to be only -1 on block but in my opinion is allways punishable, what do the Brady say about close HK?

Close Roundhouse is definitely more than -1. I don’t have my guide on me, but I can say from experience that its very punishable. It might be less so when used at the farthest point of its range, but its something I don’t throw out unsafely.

Thanks, i find it punishable too, i thought it was a good option for a whiff cr.lk>cr.mk… if you end with something with -1 on block but when i do it many people may me pay for it.
Another thing: I am pretty solid with MP>cr.MP>HPgator when I come in, BUT in the corner it´s nearly impossible for me, is there any other option to make a solid corner tag-in combo?

Haven’t tried, I just try to avoid corners. Maybe cr.Jab? The character has to run farther in corners so it really changes the timing, unfortunately. I haven’t really been playing Marduk the last week so I haven’t worked on any of that stuff.

Surely Capcom must’ve planned to make Marduk as bad as possible. I mean, why would they make so that his second best move, the EX grab, collides with a useless OH?

Marduk just feels super unfinished. If he could actually chain into far normals reliably then he’d have a powerful ground game, but he’s like the only character I’ve run into that can’t chain anything into far normals at any range. If he had that he could at least make people afraid of a tackle combo/dash cancel without meter at any range.

That and give tackle a few more options or just give him a new special ><

I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m not trying to sound like a troll or something, but there’s so much stuff with Marduk that just sucks, you know? And the F normals are really just there for poking, yet Rufus and Cammy can chain into their far ones. :<

Yea everybody thinks he’s okay because mike Ross plays him, but he’s pretty awful. I would honestly put him in the same boat as yoshi.

He’s got a lot far stuff that goes into mix ups with his strings. He could rule the ground with all sorts of cancel-able strings/tackle set ups etc.

Nah not like Yoshi, Yoshi’s horrible. But yeah, there’s a lot of things that doesn’t make any sense. But then again, the fact that this game is broken to shit doesn’t really make any sense either, hah.

I really don’t see what’s wrong with him. His normals have great range and his cr. LK is longer than most of the cast, which you can go for a boost combo or super. Even his cr. MP is good, and you’re just judging how he doesn’t have cancelable far normals instead of actually trying. Hell he has ambiguous cross ups from many of his moves but no one is taking the chance to explore deep into a character and would rather bitch about what he needs work on.

Because his strenghts are overshadowed by his faults.

What faults? If you think he should get treated with everything then you’re wrong. He’s a grappler ffs, Gief can’t cancel into his far normals let alone his close ones either along with several other characters in the game.

Excuse me? Gief shits on Marduk. His normals are far better than Marduks, his MP can be boost comboed with HK. Are we talking about the same game here?

Someone said cancelable far normals, maybe I took that differently. Either way Marduk can boost combo as well, so what is the problem? Gief’s only ranged normal is MP, and even if he whiffs, there are like 5 other normals Marduk can punish with. Besides he can be in range of his HP or MK which goes farther than Giefs MP.
