Firebrand with drones is GODLIKE… i like to run Firebrand/Sentinel/Felicia… sooooo goood… :slight_smile:

If you clock in 5000 matches with Firebrand you unlock his alternate voice.
It’s pretty cool though.

I have a question that may seem pretty basic, but I am new to Firebrand. I am playing Firebrand (missile), Dorm (hole), and Akuma (tatsu). What is the best way to set up a blocked tatsu to for for his instant overhead against characters with good air mobility like Magneto, Doom, or Spider-Man? Also, what is a good general strategy against these types of characters? His air fireballs seem to be quite good in these matchups, but what else should I be looking for?

Was fiddling in the lab today with the Wall Cling Dismount found something that seems exceedingly simple, but not sure how well known it is. Turns out the Wall Cling dismount gives a lot of momentum if you aren’t approaching backward or holding back. But if you say, jump straight up, then wall cling, then dismount, you go much farther than if you up-back into wall cling into dismount. It looks like it can be pretty useful considering A) Dismount lets you block ridiculously early, B) Dives require you press a button to keep their momentum, whereas a wall cling does not and C) Dive H canceled into a Wall Cling will still give you the max forward momentum.

Has this already been discovered and elaborated on, and if not, Thoughts?

I’ve noticed that light weight the last few sets i’ve had. I personally like the airdash against the wall to dismount, it gives him a nice little advancing hop. I’ll mess around with that today and see what the exact differences are.

Can you use Akuma’s Tatsu assist for unblockable setups like Ammy’s Cold Star?

No, it doesn’t last long enough. All you have time for are instant overheads or jump into QCB+L, c.L.
Tatsu is a really good assist for Firebrand but it took me a while to get good at confirming off it consistently.

Hey guys, I just started looking into Firebrand and I’m having a problem that I thought you guys might be able to help me with. My current team is Trish / RR /Ammy, but I’m looking for a Doom/Ammy team and Firebrand / Doom / Ammy seems to have a TON of synergy.<br><br>I was watching someone on a random stream do a combo that looked like this:<br><br>(basic combo) > Bon Voyage, S, buttons > air.d.h, Hell Dive L, S, (hard tag Doom), st.m OTG > (Doom corner combo)<br><br> He was doing it VERY consistently and it was usually killing, especially if the combo was done off an unblockable reset from Ammy’s Cold Star. I’m having some trouble with it though, I can’t for the life of me get Doom’s st.m OTG to connect. Is there anything special you need to do to make these kinds of hard tag combos work? I feel like I’m hitting S pretty low to the ground, but the opponent always recovers before I can link Doom’s m.<br><br>I feel like I’m doing the Hell Dive L very awkwardly too, is there some special way I should be doing Hell Dive L in this combo?<br><br>Any help is greatly appreciated! =)

Define “awkwardly”. You just cancel the automatic flight mode into Hell Dive L after you hit with the dive kick.

The timing should make it look like you’re canceling the actual divekick. Waiting for 'Brand to fully go into flight is too long.<div><br></div><div>And don’t worry about formatting, the forum is acting weird for everyone.</div>

This sounds more likely, and is what I would have suggested had I seen this message earlier. Doom is the easiest partner for raw tag combos after Bon Voyage.<div><br></div><div>However, don’t let your practice with S after Hell Dive L go to waste! If you call a lockdown assist immediately after, it acts as a fairly reliable unblockable setup. This is the same setup that Marvisto uses with Taskmaster Vertical Arrows, but Cold Star is likely to work just as well or better. I haven’t tried it myself, so depending on positioning the opponent may be able to roll out, but you’re bound to catch more than a few people with it.</div>

What combo are you guys using for happy birthdays?

So, I think there is Firebrand glitch. Not anything super useful though. I’ve had it happen twice to me now and I think the requirement is that you have to Devil’s Claw someone from SJ height and after they get hit by the dive kick, they fall into one of Firebrand’s fireballs. For some reason, they still ground bounce, but the screen moves really fast and then Firebrand is put into flight mode (like normal after a dive kick), but instead of being at SJ height, he is slightly below regular jump height.<br>I’m not 100% sure that this is the criteria because the fireball should override the ground bounce properties of the dive kick but this has happened to my twice and the fireball, divekick, and SJ height are the only consistent factors.<br>Lastly, I doubt this matters but both times I did it, it was to Dr. Doom.<br>

EDIT/ Happened again. Now I think it has something to do with the enemies’ hitbox. As in, dependent on where you hit them. Like, Lets say you hit Sentinel JUST past the cross-up point. You crossed up but Devil’s Claw puts you in flight mode, slightly back from where you hit with the dive kick, so you end up on the same side AFTER the cross up. The bigger the character, the farther back you’ll get pushed (Because their hurtbox needs more room on the ground to “exist”. Not 100% on this though. This is just my theory.

So this forum is dead. I guess I don’t care about double posting.

Just a small tip to Firebrand players.

If you are able to kill someone in the corner with Firebrand and be recovered, on the ground before the “DOWN” symbol goes away, here’s a very easy trick to time a perfect, solo unblockable on the next character. The exact moment that the “DOWN” symbols goes away, you need to start charging the unblockable. It times perfectly to hit the incoming character without them having a chance to do anything. Even mistimed slightly, a lot of characters cannot do anything about it. In Luminous Body, wait just a 1/4th second longer. If mistimed, double jump characters can easily get out. In this case, end flight ASAP.
And once you get this timing down, you can get good at DHCing from another character’s hyper kill in to Luminous Body and time it without the down symbol.

I don’t get this perfect every time but I go for it every chance I get because it is a free unblockable. Just make sure you get very good at it before you start relying on it. And if you’re prone to messing it up, try not to use it on characters like Vergil, Dante, Zero, other characters with great normals/air movement.

Unfortunately Firebrand is bad at Happy Birthday combos. The best you can hope for is that you can catch both of them standing and really close together and then you can do c.L, c.M, c.H, s.S, j.H xx QCB+M, j.H, s.H, s.S, j.M, j.M, j.H, j.S, Dark Fire. However, if either of the characters is off the ground, you have the possibility of going past them (point), or dropping them (assist).

Does Luminous actually cause the unblockable to charge faster? I had heard it was the same speed (and haven’t actually played around with it myself).
