The Complete Dudley Thread

Quick question:

Is there any particular reason as to why MK is used over HK for MP > MK duck xx super? I was testing it out with HK earlier and it seemed to work just as well (or in my case, better) as MK, even at max distance.

MK ducking is used more I think since the window to be able to super cancel from it is sooner than the HK ducking. This leaves less room for error, especially when doing c. MP x ducking xx super.

hk ducking leaves you at -frames on block.

does dudley is disadvantage versus ryu ? someone said me the match-up is better for ryu
cause i play VS a ryu i was blocked with his zoning game of hk and hp i was unable to approach him safely maybe it’s me, maybe a sandbag :frowning:

mk ducking is the best, period pretty much

Ryu can be annoying with his s.hk.

Also: yeaaaay dudley made it to sf4

ryu and dudley are 5/5 i think

they both have an even advantage over eachother. but it boils down to dudleys pressure vs ryus zoning.

If his s. HK is giving you trouble, one thing I learned through the Denjin podcast with Vic Vance is that you can look for them to whiff that move, then just do ducking xx super to punish that. The same I imagine could apply to his s. HP too.

what are the tips and tricks Versus makoto urien and chun because i don’t know the versus thanks

I know I’m kinda late for this reply, but for parrying the midscreen unblockable, you have two choices. You parry down and then toward the character(assuming they use the standard f.MK setup), or you tap down twice if they go low.

For the corner unblockable, you tap backwards towards the wall and just hold block.

Nah not late at all. So you mean I tap backwards to parry the knee drop, then just block the rest of the aegis?

Yup! Just tap backwards once to parry the kneedrop, then just keep holding the same direction you parried to block the rest of the Aegis.

I’m still trying to figure out how Kuroda/RX/Senaka managed to escape the corner while Urien recovers from the parried kneedrop(I tried to do it during a casual but ate the rest of the Aegis, which set me up for another juggle)…but for the time being, this is how you escape the corner unblockable.

It could be that after parrying the knee drop, you can throw him into the corner and that pushes you out of the corner and the aegis.

Nono, I meant that I tried to walk away from Aegis immediately after parrying the kneedrop, but I still got caught by Aegis when I immediately tried to hold forward(away from the Reflector). It’s probably determined by the distance you land on the floor as Urien sets you up for the unblockable…I’m not sure.

Well if you ever do figure that out, I’d be interested in knowing how to get out of the corner Aegis also. I want to say that doing a hp MGB or hk Ducking might work since the space between each Aegis hit isn’t that fast, but I’m doubtful.

edit: So after some testing, after parrying one hit of Aegis, you can do MP, HP, or EX MGB or MK Ducking to get out of the corner. This will probably work on the knee drop unblockable as well.

Nice thread, im diggin the info on the combos!

i will mos def try them out for myself, i just started playing sf3 couples months back so im still learning the in’s and out’s

I think I saw in a video you can EX uppercut out of it right on startup. Idk for sure and sorry if it does not help. Just thought I could add it to the list.

does not work, you will get hit.

Ah, well ignore my remark then.

Also where were you at WB buddy?

just don’t really care to go to tourneys these days.

Regarding Urien’s corner UB: If you parry you can just stand there or walk out since Urien is forcing you out of the range of Aegis (at least that’s what was always happening during testing with my friend, if you’re unsure after the parry just block I suppose). Didn’t get to test what the best punish was though so I’ll look into that later.
