The Complete Dudley Thread

You mean me too epsilon_? If you do no worries a little back reading won’t hurt.

Dudleys j.rh (timed correctly) will beat Yuns cr.mp, aswell as Yangs cr.hp (which otherwise pretty much beats all jumpins)

Personally I think they’re both pretty even matchups for Duds, just be cautious with throwing out attacks against them because they crouch under so much.
If you’re playing against Yang players who do 2x slash on block, punish that shit.

I’m not really sure what other kind of tips I can give you personally … Don’t rush your offense to much, especially not against Yang …

In my own experience I don’t think it’s so much the timing, but rather more dependent on the spacing. The hitbox of Yun’s cr. mp works well against the hitbox of Dud’s j.hp/j.hk at a lot of angles which is why it’s so troublesome and such a good AA against him. I’ll try to write stuff about the matchups when I don’t feel as lazy.

Sounds like good advice. I know I should definitely watch what I throw out when they’re crouching since I whiff s. HK and get hit with c. MK to whatever. What’s everyones opinion on trying to red parry Yang’s c. MK to slash, or Yun’s 123 to shoulder. Is the risk/reward worth it.

Alright I will try to do that now.

I am sure I have done it like 40 times. Sorry.

HAHA yea son…Asked a few questions as a noobie about 2 months ago. Read most of the thread applied the strats to my once a week arcade apearance and became super respectable at my local arcade. Cpuldn’t ask for anything more!!!Holla at cha boy!!!

Shiznt son…Hit up a Qcf + lp or lk then super or uppercut or somethin…it aint that hard to trial and error your ish* DAYM…

I always want to go for the parry but often times I am so focused on not messing up that I psyche myself out and not go for it. I think its worth it in situations where your opponent likes to go through with 2-3 hits despite you blocking them all. If he is using those hits like a predictable block string then go for the parry and punish him.

Sounds like good advice. Though I guess I should really practice that since the last thing I want to do is mess that up and lose half my lifebar. Definitely trying to keep this thread alive since this is my main source of what’s hot with Dudley.

no way, getting hit in the liver hurts like nothing else

sorry for not actually posting anything useful, thanks for the combos and such since the wiki is down

I.E. Dudley vs Ken with Dudley’s back to corner. S.rh or f.mk?> what strength SSB?>super. Any help?

Probably s.RH and s. SH SSB would be best.

I try this out. I wasn’t sure if it was character specific and I hardly see anyone do it. I didn’t see it in OP either.

Can anyone go into a little more depth concerning the Ibuki and Yang matchups? Speedy characters in general tend to give me the most trouble.

Which moves or normals should I look for to punish with these two? It seems like a lot of their moveset is safe and once I get caught in the corner, it’s very difficult to get out against them.

Yeah if anyone can give more information on fighting Ibuki and the twins, that’d be great. I have a lot of trouble fighting them too. All I know right now is that parrying dive kicks is a must, and with Ibuki I think parrying her overhead and punishing blocked slides with c. MP x Ducking xx Super would be a good thing.

what specifically do you have trouble with yang and ibuki?.. if you ever decide to jump in on yang basically a late forward or round house are the safest moves on yang… but jumping in is quite risky vs an experienced player yang can mix it up using moves such as countering your jump with forward -> dive kick, crouching fierce, crouching medium -> slash, or depending on distance standing med kick etc… zone it … let him come to you… try and guess parry the coruching forward at a good distance then punish with crouthing strong+ commnd dash super… with ibuki distance + crouching fierce works well vs her… but a lot of her pokes are very good vs dudley… jumpin in on any of these characters should be kept to a miniumum…

makoto… depends on how aggressive the player is… keep your distance away from her crouching+roundhouse/standing forward… and reaction spam standing roundhouse and punish those dash in’s, i dont know what else to say… but watch some kokujin vids or wat nots… every game is different… for makoto ill try and record some vids on my gameplay vs them at AI one day lol… keep u informed…

Going back to Urien again, what is the parry pattern for getting out of the midscreen and corner unblockables? I think for the midscreen one you can just parry it down for the whole thing but I might be wrong.

the midscreen one where they tackle you into the aegis i like to hit forward back forward but im pretty sure the rest depends on what they do, but you might be able to just block.

Sound good then I’ll have to test that out.
