The Complete Dudley Thread

Two questions.

  1. Which characters’ roll can Dudley dash or duck through to cross up?

  2. Does UOH -> SAIII work on every ducking character (given the right distance) or is it character specific?

  1. Dudley can dash and duck through the following character’s quick stand in mid screen:

Twelve
Necro
Dudley
Yun
Yang
Ibuki
Elena
Hugo

In the corner, you can dash and duck through the quickstand of Twelve, Necro and Hugo.

There’s a Dudley tutorial on Youtube somewhere that shows the set ups and timing for these cross ups.

  1. UOH link into SA3 works on crouching everyone given the right distance. iirc, it also works on everyone even if they are standing.

the rule is if the UOH hits when dudley is on his way down it links into SA3
c.lk clk sets up the perfect distance for UOH -> SA3

practice that to see the distance you need to get that shit

Crap, after not playing for almost a year… NECX is coming up and I have been dying to play tourny 3s. So I am going to have to go through the process of basically relearning Dudley.

Fun fun fun… :bluu:

I am gonna be reading this alot. So once again thanks for making this awesome guide.

Epsilon: Your going to NECX right?

An amazing thread. Thanks for all the good tips, some things I never realized.

I’ve played 3S long time ago and played Dudley. I really need to get a copy of it again… it’s been 3 years. D:

I’ll do my best to find this video, but I saw a JP match involving a Duds player who punished a blocked Makoto cr.hp sweep w/ an EX Mgb! I wonder if it depends on which “type” it was (which arcade version, such as beta, etc.). I wish that if it were a reversal, the screen would always acknowledge it when it’s ambiguous!

does not work, unfortunately. doesnt work on a shoto sweep either lol.

Quick question, when you juggle with the LP MGB. Is there any certain times when you cant juggle it a 2nd time? Or should you be able to LP MGB 2 times in a row all the time?

Because sometimes it seems they get to low for me to bring out the 2nd one.

it depends on the character completely. “small” characters it’s easier. fat characters it’s pretty hard to do multiple ones. on almost anyone 3+ is quite difficult, i generally never do 2.

Alright cool thanks, also. I still have yet to figure out juggling with C.HK, can someone help with that?

Also is EX MGB, LP MGB, LK dashing uppercut good? Or should I use MK or HK uppercut? Because sometimes the dashing uppercut wont connect. I can also go into supers if it hits.

I always use MK ducking. Note that it’s impossible to do ex MGB -> lp MGB -> Ducking uppercut mid-screen because lk and mk don’t reach and hk is too slow. So it’s a corner combo. Mid-screen I just do EX MGB -> mk ducking uppercut xx Super. If you’re using Rocket Uppercut I believe you have to cut out the uppercut to get the full super.

As far as cr.hk, it’s just timing and practice. You have to remember to keep walking forwards too so that you don’t whiff the fifth one. And it only works on certain characters, like Chun.

Awesome thanks, do I only need to walk foward for the 5th one or for all of them?

its definitely not impossible to do ex mgb, lp mgb, ducking upper midscreen, in fact its the most damaging midscreen mgb ender on most characters. most people just do mk ducking because you can’t mess it up.

Alright I will try the midscreen one.

Also I got the C.HK juggle down, WOOT WOOT!

Dumb Question:

Is Dudley Indian?

no, definitely black. i believe he’s loosely based on lennox lewis.

Have fun with this midscreen vs Chun’s etc

Sweep, walk sweep, dash, ex uppahcut

holy damn. sort of glad to see some people still play this game.

Tweleve, wouldnt have guessed you used dudley. haha.

vs Chun;

cr. rh, cr. rh, dash st.mp x fp SRK xx SA1 (~3 hits) x fp SRK!
Pimpest combo!

By the way, for people who didn’t know against Chun with you in the corner (back to corner) you can do cr. rhx2 mk backswingblow – Great damage and doesn’t take any meter. So if you wake-up parry something you can punish with a sweep, or she misses a confirm and does a super on block when you’re in the corner it’s a good combo to use, not hard at all either.

Or anyone else who you can sweep multiple times.
