Does anyone have, or know where I can find some KSK match videos?
I’d like to see how he handles certain situations, and certain characters.
Esp. vs. Ken. I know Ken is a hard matchup for any character, but
I was wondering what kinda stratigies and mixups he used against a Ken player.
Thanks
I had a lot of trouble with Hugo and Q too, when I was starting out. The main thing you need to learn about them is that you can’t beat them via grapples or ground game. You have to take to the air.
That said, I like to hang around Hugo’s wake-up and jump most of the time. I might eat a wake-up backbreaker once in a while, but it’s better that than moonsault press of Gigas.
actually i think Alex has the upper hand when it comes to pokes. but you are right about grabs, they are not that useful in this matchups.
With a waking Hugo I like to mix it up with s.hp and c.hk from a distance, he’s to far to do any grabs, I also like to throw in a f.mp to catch him if he tries jumping.
Against Hugo I do st.strong all day. It beats out a lot of his shit except the crouching attacks. On a wakeup hugo I sometimes do the DDT cuz it beats his wakeup 360.
Alex’s best ground move against big characters is without a doubt f+strong, followed to a less degree f+fiece. F+strong doesn’t whiff though and is much better. It pretty much shuts down certain characters for free.
…Wait. Standing roundhouse chains into itself?
It doesn’t, but I was copying those symbols out of the Brady Guide.
What do you guys think about the matchup against Q?
I dunno myself, UltraDavid. I’d give a slight edge to Alex because he’s got more mobility than Q does. What would you say?
I think Q is actually pretty hard to approach, since he has better pokes than Alex. Q’s dash punch can also beat Alex’s elbow slashes. Once you knock Q down, however, he’d toast, since he has no good wake-up moves (other than block and guess-parry).
i do well against Q, however the best Q player around here is me so i haven’t really faced a good Q with Alex, shouldn’t be that hard, Q is slow and has limited pokes, his standing mk is parry bait and has zero low pokes to worry (alex c. mp beats Q’s l.mk)
I don’t think Q should be that much of a problem. st.forward and cr.strong are still good against him. He can’t do much on wakeup like Prime said. Hes so slow too.
I just tryed Alex against someone serious, he’s soo hard to play compared to ryu, you actually have to take risks !! I mean, you only moderate damage options only come at close range and even then you have to gamble about it. With denjin-ryu you can actually ko someone off a max range low forward. Defending is much harder since you have to take risks to get off damage (thou powerbombing is mad fun).
I made a few minor updates. Character-specific data are coming soon, since I know a bit more about the game now.
I’m not sure if this is what you’re talking about.
If you catch the opponent in the air with standing roundhouse (in the corner) you can combo with another one. The timing has to be right when you catch them in the air.
Good update but his cr. forward doesn’t cancel to anything so you might want to edit that.
I thought it cancels into Boomerang Raid.
It doesn’t. In fact, it’s one of Alex’s biggest problems that none of his low moves actually lead to anything good. Low LK tick into powerbomb isn’t guaranteed and xx super isn’t hit-confirmable. Low MK leads to nothing and does barely any damage, and a sweep is generally not a good idea unless you’re at a good distance.
Compare those limitations to Ken or Dudley and it really shows how much Alex lacks.
No it doesn’t cancel to Boomerang but its still a good move to use every now and then. If it did cancel to Boomerang shit then I would have no doubt in playing Alex. Maybe a Flash Chop, cr. forward xx SA2 would be awesome but its not going to happen.
