Thought this was the case
You can reverse Kara flash chops with THE BOOT. Make it so your flash chop twitches back a bit to avoid throw attempts.
The boot is very good for punishing in the corner against SRK’s and the like.
INTEREST CHECK–Anyone wanna see stupid clips I have for Alex? Punishment stuff and wacky bits.
I didn’t think the Boot punished SRK’s. At least in my experience.
How do you Kara-Flash Chop with the Boot? I think it was as he’s in the stHK animation you do qcf+LP.
Stated video is YEARS overdue for release, buddy…
You lack experience. As for the KaraChop it’s st.RH~QCF+P. The timin isn’t lenient but totally worth it when you can land MP Chops on dudes.
Not a video but a series of stupid clips.
Wacky AND stupid? That sounds integral to Alex play. Please post. I?ll share some random stuff I?ve seen:
- When Alex stuns someone with a throw, they get up turned around.
- Alex?s t.mp does more damage on crouching far opponents than crouching close opponents.
In regards to earlier statements, c.lk x c.hk is safe to neutral jumps, unlike powerbomb. The chain pushes the opponent outside of sweep range on block but is still punishable by supers and fast specials. It can also be interrupted by dps and supers. The main reason to use it is that it punishes ppl who like to poke you out of powerbombs with crouching jabs and shorts. This chain even knocks Chun out of her c.lp. I tested Ken and Chun?s crouching jabs on rapidfire against this chain and they surprisingly lost every time.
Show me a vid of Alex’s stHK beating SRK. I’ve never seen it happen. And again, I wouldn’t just throw that move out there for the reasons I’ve stated.
Wacky things? You could really explore all the things bHP beats. Including (as noted) Ken’s SA3 and Chun’s SA2. Something you might want to explore if you’re dealing with parry-happy opponents: after knocking them down, get close and do either a sMP/sMK then do LP Power Bomb. If they parry the MP/MK the power bomb should connect.
st.HK doesn’t beat SRKs(if anything it may trade meaty), but it’s good to punish. In some occasions you can also start a juggle with st.HK, so keep that in mind when blocking something like an HP SRK.
b.HP beating out certain Supers is common knowledge, so it’s not wacky. And I wouldn’t parry-bait into throw with Alex unless you’re using Hyper Bomb. Power Bomb is slower than you’d think, and considering the opponent has frame advantage after parry they could either just jab you, throw you or SRK.
Sanchez: I would love to check out these clips.
That’s what I thought, stHK doesn’t beat it, I don’t know why you would want to punish a whiffed SRK with it though. Alex has better things to hit them with.
bHP may not be wacky, but certainly lulzy. Parry-bait into Powerbomb only seems to work if you’re dealing with someone doesn’t an instant AA like the SRK.
I’d like to see these clips, Sanchez!
As for punishing SRKs, if I block a fierce dp I like to do the ol’ fierce flash chop, hp p-bomb. The same can be done after blocking a shin shoryu, shoryu reppa etc.
Hey just checking: What can Alex do to counter Chun’s EX Spinning Bird kick on wakeup? I think sHP beats it, crLK/crMK doesn’t. Haven’t tested the Flash chop.
Pushes them to the corner, and if you block an HP Shoryu when they’re cornered, you can juggle with HK->HK->MP->EX Knee. It’s a pretty situational combo that you don’t see too often, but does sick damage and stun.
The problem with parry-bait into Powerbomb is that Powerbomb is slow and doesn’t have any invincible startup. Even without an SRK, the opponent can just jab or throw you out. Hyper Bomb is best suited for it because of its much faster start-up and invincibility.
I got headbutt beating stuff out clips too! And an inspirational DDT one.
Post away, buddy.
I want these. Also been looking at ways to bait out something by doing DDT on wakeup from to far away, this could help that.
As sad as it is for me, when online 3S comes out, I’m going to use Ken as my main, and keeping Urien/Alex as secondary.
Alex has 2 really bad matches (Chun/Yun) as well as with Akuma.
There isn’t really a safe way to get in on Chun and Akuma.
Chun and Yun are annoying. Everyone else is reasonable.
As does everyone else pretty much
Depends on how online is, but it’s probably going to suck and just make Ken better. It’ll be pretty painful seeing 90% of all Kens online played like SSF IV online.
Nono, he means that Chun and Yun ARE Alex’s worst matchups in the same lines that Akuma and Dudley are considered Hugo’s worst. Chun and Yun may be strong, but there are some characters who can beat them better than others.
I dunno about online SSF4, but if there is just as much lag in 3S:OE as there is in GGPO, then online Ken will be pretty simple to beat. That said, I seriously hope there isn’t that much lag in 3S:OE…
Whoops, double post
