I try to knock them down and take it from there, but when the 12 Player does a quick roll (whatever the term, you know what I mean when you hit down as a you fall and get up quickly) it can be difficult to keep them in the corner. Alex’s air dive has little priority, and I’d rather not abuse his SRK grab as that leaves wide open if it fails, plus a lot of 12’s air moves beat the SRK.
your best tools are f+fp, f+hp, and srk+k. mix it up between those and see which ones have priority. im fairly sure 12’s j.hp gets beat by your f+hp. j.hk/mk are good for working him to the corner too when you get to the air before him. at worst, you’re just going to have to parry. 12’s air game can get predictable, so look for patterns.
I think he means f+mp, f+hp. f+mp is great for defending against crossups. I would say, do what you can to stay in his face as much as possible. You can use sj jump ins, ex elbow slash, and sometimes you can go for the ex/normal air stampede for randomness/variety. The ex stampede’s tracking ability helps out a lot from my limited experience.
Hey, it worked. f+MP works well against him. It still devolves into a retarded keep-away match, but now I know what to do. Thanks guys.
Also: Am I the only one who thinks Alex is mid-tier? The reasons why are because of his great lock down ability, plus his stomp crossup. Once you get into mixing it up with the stomp crossup, you can really mindfuck people.
Nah, he’s pretty low-tier, per se. He has to get in close to do any real damage, and a lot of characters just have way too many tools to keep him out. He has to take a lot of risks for a marginally big reward, whereas other characters get to do less and reap more benefits out of it.
Hey bro I thought you were describing 12 at first, when I read the part about risks for not much reward, and not dealing much damage lol.
I just think Alex gets RAPED by Akuma. I suppose Chun is harder, but that’s more of a priority issue. Too bad his cr.lk isn’t hit-confirmable! His low game is almost as bad as 12’s O_O
It depends on the Akuma player, but the matchup isn’t that bad. If the Akuma player is good at mixing up dive kicks, you’re options are to parry it or jLP/LK/anything. It’s very winnable. Chun is almost impossible because her normals have insane priority, do a lot of damage, and can be easily comboed. The only way to beat Chun is to be a god of mixing it up, or play keep away and punish her mistakes. Yun isn’t nearly as bad as Chun.
If you’re losing to 12 you fucking suck.
Personally, I think Alex’s only two real BAAAAAD match ups are Chun and Yun. Everyone else is manageable.
Things about 12:
-He cant punish EX Slash Elbow.
-Trades are always in your favor.
-F+HP is good for obvious reasons.
-Don’t be stupid about chasing him. Walk.
-Throw out air D+FP every now and then. The risk/reward is hugely in Alex’s favor.
-12’s most common AA options are FP and walk under throw.
-If you get hit by FP land and block. An EX NDL is coming your way.
-Standing MP is a very underrated AA option.
Don’t say I never help you guys!
Any tips to doing c.jab X2 xx sa2 on keyboard?
is still hard to win against yun , thinking about it gives me the headache . cross up meaty dive ? -> GJ -> runaway yun ? oh damn
for akuma , alex got to parry those hurricane spams . and beware of wake up demon
he has a really hard time getting in, very unsafe moves combined with mediocre rewards, needs meter to be taken seriously, anti-air is wobbly, easy to escape from. things really dont add up for alex in third strike
One thing I like to do when Yun activates is do b+HP. It’s 50/50 but the risk isn’t as high as doing say sMP or sweep. Wouldn’t recommend doing it unless you’re half a screen away though.
Headbutt attempt from half a screen away? Is that a psychic headbutt, attempting to stuff a lunge (if it can stuff that move)?
:d: Indeed. That is noteworthy.
It stuffs the lunge, it’s Homo-Genius worthy for sure.
Went with Alex, beat a dude 3X in a row (he picked Ryu/Ken) he then picked Chun, beat him with Stomp cross up and DDT’s, he rage quit. Do I get a medal?
You get a medal when you beat Chun using only the diving cross chop.
i have a storyline related question, about alex relating to SF3… for the people who care for or know the general basis of the story can answer me this questions…
Is Alex supposed to be like the world’s savior or the “chosen one” according to Gill… i mean the SF3 tournament wasn’t really a tournament it was more of Gill testing Alex against everyone else.
I’ve only seen the 3rd Strike ending for Alex and Gill. in Gill’s ending Alex becomes a follower in his cult. In Alex’s ending he roams the earth looking for a good fight, heart of the cards, all that shit. You could probably look up the New Generation and 2nd Impact endings on Youtube.
