I use it now because I can’t find a reliable answer against it beside Air to Air normals -_-… Even ex falling sky fails alot.
At this point, it seems to me that dashing on reaction is a much better option…
Breathless punishes his far fierce almost as far as souless does
and I like using it in option selects more since it can be cancelled if you mess up.
Reversal roundhouse rolling gets me out of his post DP fadc pressure.
half the time they try and either spam jabs, do another dp, or tanden engine…
i’m in the clear so long as they don’t command grab
More stuff to come… I’m preoccupied with seth right now!
After a tornado throw. Dashing forward medium roll cr.lk linked into cl.hp is fuzzy guard meaty style. Which is pretty dope. I’m sure it’s been discovered but don’t see to many use it.
Only works on cross up roll from what I see. But this is awesome for characters that cl.hp misses on. With 2 bars it turns into a good safe frame trap on block too. Easily getting you an ultra if you have been tick throwing them to death.
One framer though, but Abel’s don’t have problems with that.
Just wondering what to do against my friend who tends to jump back on wakeup, should i just be doing a meaty option select to just keep him on the ground? Also I just can’t seem to beat his sagat consistently. I can get up to medium range easily enough, but I just can’t get inside his ST. roundhouse any way i try, most of his normals double hit so i can’t focus them…can’t jump in… I’ve been trying to follow the advice here, and can get him into a corner just walking forward, but I still am not able to do any real damage to him. What is the best way to play in the corner? I feel like I’m not taking advantage of him being there at all
There is so much great info in this subforum, we really should compile it into a “bible” like the Makoto guys did. I could definitely help with the effort on the technical side if anyone is interested.
Get up in his guts when you knock him down. If he’s jumping on wakeup, you can tag him with a cr.lk, OS sweep if he backdashes, or jump at him and hit him with air HP. Be mindful of DPs-- once you start to beat his jumping back, he’ll start looking to beat that by DPing.
Use st.lk a lot for pressure, it will stuff a lot of sagat’s normals but make sure you’re at max range and be aware that he can just DP it if you’re hitting the button too much. Stagger the frequency of your st.lks and you can bait stuff from him, and continue to move him into the corner. Once you get him in the corner, you can keep the pressure going and if he jumps back, dash at him and cr.hp or close st.hp to anti air. Jumping in on him is a bad idea unless you do it after a knockdown. Watch Abelity’s safe jump guide and try to learn those setups.
Been using the above OS since Abel needs it for long backdashers and can lead to huge damage. Unfortunately if it hits, Abel is to far to do anything except ex TT and has negligible frame adv. At least with the sweep OS, you are closer and might be able to combo into s.mp. Not saying its useless but not not an OS that can be used all the time.
Once the rest of the guide is updated I’d like to include a section talking about his Safe-Jump setups.
I only know 1 off the top off my head so would you guys help out and share what you know? Or direct me to the thread that has them listed
Seth, being able to cancel nearly any moment of his jump arc into his dive kick makes it very difficult to anti from the ground. Because of that and Seth’s divekick having a very formidable hitbox, Abel best bet seems to be Air Normals…
Your best bet is to try and react to Seth jumping toward you by jumping up yourself with :hp:
Ex messiah kick FADC, Forward dash = -3
Ex messiah kick FADC, Back dash = -11
If Rufus dashes toward abel and tries to neutral jump to dive kick… Mashing throw will stop him before he takes off
Heavy punch can be used too, seems like it would be almost just as consistent
If Rufus backdashes Abel’s option are dependant on the positioning…
If it’s mid screen the only punish abel seems to have is Ultra II; Yes BreathlessI
If ABEL is in the corner (not rufus) and Rufus reversals into FADC back dash
Abel can step kick punish, however be sure to time it a little later otherwise it will catch rufus while he’s airborn and cause him to reset.
Can I practice confirming f+mk? It seems like whenever I try in training mode I’m always like “Ok this one will hit” or “This one will be blocked” and act accordingly. I can’t seem to get myself out of that mindset and I want to be able to react to whether or not it hits in a real match (of course I’m not too good at landing it in matches but that’ll come eventually)
From your message, I can’t decipher what exactly you’ve been trying in training mode
Here’s my suggestion, sorry if this is what you’ve already been doing
Go to training mode and select, “random” block in the training options…
hey guys i have problems with sakuras jump in, i usually bock but she has such good normals and options i usually get knocked down again, i need insane reactions to ex FS other then that what can i do? is it a good idea to roll away?
