based on mine and some other abels experience at the loc test… breathless aint really that big of a deal… some chars can still just jump and hit you on the way down or throw you on landing… but yeah i guess its better than in AE… and maybe people need time to find setups etc…

huh? the develop blog says that it has strike invincibility from the start of the dash until inintial contact…

If this is true, how can it be that the opponent can jump in and stuff it? Wouldn’t breathless blow through it?

maybe people just messed up the timing/distance

or that the breathless whiffed and the jumpback attack punished the recovery

maybe the moment of the move being invi and losing invi is thin

i guess ill test it thoroughly when its out in 2 days…

Headbutts aren’t grounded so wouldn’t be grabbed.

If it’s used as a wakeup reversal the armor would stop the os no? But w/e I’m not gonna think about this ultra too much because I like to combo. I agree with HFX, they should’ve just dumped U2 all together and damage buff U1 haha

i managed to land it a few times, some as punishes, some just let it rip hahah

the cr.hp is back to being godlike, i mean, its nothing new since i did go to the loc tests a few times…

except maybe that guy kara throw has a pretty good range lol

That tech is really powerful when used correctly. It eliminates your own blockstun (since you don’t block) but since they hit in the air all those landing frames come back. It’s been around a while I know but the more I mess with it the more useful I see it being.[S] It makes U2 in regular AE a safe, confirm able punish for safe jump setups. Same for his super. It creates an OS in itself. U2 and super (because of inputs) are really easy to get down and therefore to me most reliable[/S]. Pretty much the most annoying part of using abel is his wakeup options. This makes it that much easier to deal with. It’s kinda like a parry even in how one may use it.

Edit maybe not as powerful as I thought… but still good

Jita has an overhead set up that’s really consistent…

After falling sky, he rolls, whiffs a cr jab, and then throws out the overhead… counter-hit timing!

I think medium roll works the best before the jab.

shoutouts to Chun’s Ex legs… shit being invincible, coming out in four frames and being +1 on block…

After a typical TT, roll setup… Chun’s ex sbk has enough recovery so that Abel can land and punish with a step kick…
This was news to me… I always tried using neutral jump roundhouse and had her reset a bunch of times… I’m glad this works…

Got my video card so now I can play AE on my PC. Trying to figure out how to record/stream without making the game’s inputs lag. If anyone wants to throw any ideas at me for some Abel stuff to record, go right ahead.

EX.legs aren’t invincible…they are just a mashable 4 frame move. If you are getting your shit interrupted by them, you are doing something wrong.

And gustavos right splur, her legs arnt invincible you can actually hit her out of that shit all day. if you are going for a 50/50 set up and she hits you out of it its because your NORMALS are not meaty enough. Try doing ur normals a bit faster on her wake up. If this is happening to you online then just practice different timing. Damn i cant believe you just found out you can block SBK and punish with stepkick im not sure if i mentioned that on the guide or not but thats what i use as a punish. alot of people like to n. jump and tt but i dont use that tactic since good chuns will actually wait for that shit and sbk you on your way back down. Shes just a hard fucken match man, all top abels in japan get raped left and right by her.

So, up till now i’ve always emptied jumped and tried going for RH into Bnb… You ever get that crap where the roundhouse connects with her when she’s in the air? and she gets that reset? Shit is F-R-U-S-T-R-A-T-I-NG. I’m glad i know what what i know… Now a EX SBK will be risking 35%

As for her ex legs… I’m not having issues with landing meatys on her wake up… I get blasted by her legs when I frame trap… Looking at the frame data it make sence that her stuff strikes me clean…

I guess i was just really pissed and I felt like saying they were invincible! They might as well be in my case…

I get completely destroyed by Dhalsim players, I feel like I am letting down the Abel namesake.

What should I do if I predict a teleport away after my knockdown midscreen? I have trouble getting any pressure at all on him from that range

Also any suggestions to fight a rushdown-type Gouken? Me and this dude were taking turns perfecting eachother it was pretty funny

Alright… Focus attack is my favorite tool in this match.

Abel’s dash is super pringles so abuse it as much as you can… If you ever feel a normal comin on or want to just throw it out, you can! and should! It’s the fastest way IN on sim…

Under Abel Option selects There’s one written there almost specifically catered to teleports.
What you do as Abel is that on a knock down, like sweep or something…
Dash up to him… and throw out a meaty crouching medium punch and then input one forward… and then a command grab.

So ur inputs should like like this
:d::mp::f::hcb:: any punch.

So if the medium punch whiffs AKA HE TELEPORTS the forward input right after the mp along with the first forward of the command grab input will be read as a dash!!!

If he doesn’t teleport… the block stun from the cr mp will null out the first forward making it so that Abel won’t dash!

Dhalsim teleports back… Abel’s mp whiffs, he dashes toward sim and grabs him, resetting the situation!

Ryan Hunter’s option select video covers this with a cr jab, it’s the same thing so go watch that!

Oh ya… the option select above can also work with Ultra 2 in place of command grab!

Oh did you back dash or teleport??? Take 400+ damage :slight_smile:

And one more thing… Dhalsim’s jump back hp instant overhead isn’t safe on hit or block.
As Abel, if you get HIT by that thing… Try your best to react by Dashing forward and doing ultra 2!

This instant overhead punish goes for other character with it as well, like vega and chun! Dhalsim is the only character where youll need to dash first… for vega and chun you can just mash it after getting hit.
