Ok Bitches, One week to go. I would apreicate more pre registers if your planing on attending. It cuts down on the amount of time I have to spend entering all of your information into the system and helps me keep all 7 of the tournments on time and running smoothly. This is the first time I’ve run an event this big that didn’t have to do with playing cards ( the Hold’em kind, not the Pokemon kind) so **please find time to register before Saturday. ** If you have already been to AREAXIII and signed in on my log book then your information is already in the system and I just need to know what tournments you plan on playing in. Thank You!

Also remember that** you need to bring systems and games,** I have 15 televisions now and I would like to have them all in use, especially with 7 different games being played. Even if you don’t plan on playing in a tournment that you have a game for please bring it.

I’ll be in town [Chiicago] for 2 weeks after Evo. I’m looking to see where the usual meetup spots are, and how often do people game. I have a friend arriving w/ me, who’s interested in the fighting game scene there. I’ve read the 1st post on the Chicago thread already, but I figure that there would be more house meetups vs. arcade/bar meetups. Help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

So im gonna start at 5:00pm and go UNTIL.

Its gonna run like this.

5pm - Doors Open/ Signups start for SF4/TvC
6:30pm - SF4 starts.
7:00pm - TvC Starts
After tournaments - casuals

Things to keep in mind

Drinking - totally ok. I live near a liqour store and might spring for brews/drinks
Smoking - also totally ok. my roomate smokes green so lemme know if you need no smoking area before hand.
PS3 - All my setups are PS3 so keep that in mind.

Setups - You can bring you own that would be awesome! Tv+PS3/Box.

RanBat Stuff.

Tourney cost - $2 per tourney.

SF4/TvC 60/30/refund prize breakdown.

Im gonna take a bit of money out of my OWN pocket (maybe entrance fee’s in the future) and put it to the side each week to give to the point leader at the end of 6 tournies.

Hey guys, I live in the suburbs and am trying to learn the finer points of SSF4 and get involved in the local fighter scene a bit. Im not sure if this is the right place or whatever to introduce myself but are there any weekly meetings I should be aware of besides whats in the first post? (I dont think its still accurate lol)

Also trying to find some SSF4 matches myself…I’m in the Printer’s Row area (by Harrison/Wells). orka’s gathering seemed really interesting, but I had a wedding this past weekend to hit up. Anyone else got anything coming up?

AREA XIII is probably currently the best ‘public’ gathering spot:

It’s in the suburbs, apologies that I don’t have a good Chicago gathering spot off the top of my head. But this is a very, very good place to go if you’re new- say hi, meet people, and tell people your SRK handle. Then post in the Chicago thread so people can put a name to the face. If you’re willing to put in the effort you’ll fit right in. After meeting people you’ll have a much easier time going to other local gatherings.

AREAXIII (AKA Dead’s, AKA Joe’s place) has casuals EVERY Tuesday and Thursday, from 6pm til late (~3pm?). That pretty much eliminates the ‘when will there be a gathering’ question, and the ‘I’m busy’ excuse. Just make it out when you can. There’s a $5 cover charge.

There are all sorts of other details but this should get you started. Check the main Chicago thread linked in the first post for more detailed info, or PM Joe (DeadXIII) if you want details. The main Chicago thread is where the activity is.
