It’s 2 hits from the V-Trigger though, no? The last hit is at the very end of the spikes, you won’t reach them there. Basically just V-Trigger -> dash (by that time they got hit twice) -> CA. In the corner you can do it right away.
It might be a bit soon, but I feel there’s one area where Kolin could really use a buff.
Her vanity step needs to be fireball invincible as soon she starts to twirl.
It’s nearly impossible to punish fireballs, even when you see them coming. You’ll either get hit out of vanity step or you’re too far away.
You can spend bar, but that doesn’t really feel worth it either.
Even in EX her silver edge isn’t quick enough on reaction, unless you’re really close, or unless you just throw it out there, which is very risky.
i dont know if you can link super after, but to maximize the dmg after VT use vskill right away, does more dmg and stun, it was mentioned in a bafael video

We didn’t get any changes but i guess we got indirectly buffed by nerfs some of the characters obtained…I’m not sure on the charge time changes… but it might help the guile match up.
I think she is undeniably top 10 at the least. Top 5 later down the road when people start to really push her to better places.
What? No way. There are at least ten characters in this game who’re better at getting consistent damage without being so reliant on meter. She’s solid which in itself is a pleasant surprise since she’s completely new but Top10 or even Top5 is a stretch. What I could see her become is a hard counter for certain characters. I’m already grinning like a fool whenever I see Nash pop up because I know every Moonsault is an opening for a big damage counter and I presume there’s lots more you can do with those moves.
Just wait my friend, I see a lot of potential in Kolin. Damage isn’t the be-all-end-all
Not the damage itself, but getting it out there. Her combo starters all have pitiful range and trying to shimmy with a button like HP leads to nothing unless it’s a CC and even then you can only follow-up with a very limited amount of moves because for some reason hitstun on that button is astrocious after a CC.
In SFIV she’d be Top 10 definitely, but SFV rewards other things. I can’t really see her climb in a tierlist that’s dominated by Urien, Cammy, Balrog, Guile, Ibuki, Necalli, Laura and Gief. Because out of those I’d argue she only beats Cammy.
I agree it’s still early days but I just don’t see it. Not saynig she’s bad, but solid mid-tier seems more realistic IMO. Which all things considered is still good in this game.

Most of her combo starters seem to have similar range to ibuki with a few having longer ranges. You can shimmy with st.mp and it’s reward is pretty decent minus the finnicky ex parabellum at max range. She isn’t top 10 at the moment but she is in a place where it maybe possible to win a major tournament. I think a lot of her match ups against the top tiers will probably end up being 5-5 and then some 4.5-5.5 or 4-6 to like gief, mika, ect.

Shimmying with hp is the best thing ever… idk what you are on about there. If you shimmy with hp and it hits you can hitconfirm link st.lk xx ex parabellum for I think like 290 damage or some such. Maybe 232… I can’t remember haven’t played her in a bit… but I mean out of all the characters I’ve played she has the best shimmy game out there because the st.hp has range, can be linked out of, and is only -2 on block. What makes it even worse is kolins throw game is fantastic. She has the rare combination of:
- Cr.lk>throw doesn’t wiff on fastest input even if the cr.lk hits the opponent.
- Cr.lp or cr.lp or st.lp>throw doesn’t require kolin to walk forward to throw the opponent so the tech has to be
done fast, so it’s much easier to shimmy with her because people will be mashing tech. - She gets in throw range easily with her crossup lk, hk command dash, and mk command dash.
- Really great shimmy button in st.hp
That’s 4 different things that lots of other characters in the game don’t have. As an example Chun doesn’t have 1,2 or 4 there. Chuns shimmy is bad cause you have to walk forward then back to shimmy, plus you have to kinda guess with cr.mk xx ex legs. Or you can try to use bhp or st.mp but both of those have like minus range and Chun will need to walk backwards a decent amount to get out of her opponents throw range after having walked forward.
Kolins throw game is one of her most impressive attributes to me. If you shimmy into ex parabellum you can keep it going by doing her v trigger and making some RIDICULOUS stun.
shimmy with st.hk > st.mp if you want max damage. The timing is just harder.
Yeah but if they don’t go for the shimmy and just block… your st.hk wiffs and you’re mad open.
St.hp is just braindead. I’d rather go for that medium damage with braindead ability than set myself up for punishes… it’s always been my style to try and dumb things down as much as possible/make my mixups as autopilot as possible as long as it doesn’t affect me in a way I feel is detrimental. That st.hk is great if you have the major read though.

I should train it but it wouldn’t get me far online in my connection when throws only have half animations and there is some input delay.
So no, I just throw out my button then confirm that there was a throw wiff for my cancel or link. It’s VERY safe and easy for characters that have a safe button that links. Other characters are harder if they have to cancel into unsafe stuff.
I think most people do it kinda like I do. If not you would see Chun players wiff punishing throw tech with cr.hp xx legs since that’s way more damage and meterless rather than cr.mk xx ex legs.
So she may have not been changed, but how does she stack up against the characters that have changed, and the overall game changes.
Throw game is great, yeah. I might have been underutilizing and underestimating st.LK, maybe that’s where I’m leaving some stuff on the table. Thanks for the input.
What are the best post counter HKD setups.
Is there is any really good ones except LP hailstorm then cr.MK ? I have tried mixing in the overhead instead of the cr.MK but it doesn’t seem good.
