I think LOS gets a lot of undeserved flak as I thought it was an amazing game, one of my favourite action games tbh.

Anymore i cannot play a handheld action game which sucks because this is my fav series of all time.
Even the multi player online is super dead anymore so thatās not exactly fun.
I admit I cheesed the combat system for LOS too hard. Itās better than GoW but in this game, you just need to know which attacks build your multiplier well. I beat the hardest difficulty rather easily since I something like doing the air hard chain slam and its followup and usually any ground combo into some hard slam (I believe the hold y then press y combo was one of the quicker ones if I remember correctly). You get the max multiplier so you can get light and chaos souls for the ultimate really fast.
I think the only trials I didnāt complete was the titan ones. They were annoying as hell, especially the last one. If you screw up and waste your summon crystal, I had to go farm all 5 pieces before doing a titan run then I just said fuck that since I basically did everything else in the game.
I thought it was weird that they named the werewolf guy Cornell, even though he is the protaganist of the 2nd n64 game. I guess they must really hate that game (though he looked badass in judgment).
Cornell was a werewolf hence the name. They donāt hate him, they put him in because they liked him and made him fucking HUGE werewolf. Like fucking giant. So bad ass.
LoSās gameplay felt God of War-esque, though I found Shadowās more enjoyable. Not sure why.
LoSās narrative was close-but-no-cigar to being great. Too much exposition, not enough subtlety.
I wish Brauner and Olrox were more elegant and artful. Especially Brauner: when I saw his name as the stage I expected a fight involving paintings in three dimensions. Thatās not what I got.
What WAS awesome, and a great rendition of a common Castlevania enemy, was Malphas.

It was more like once I saw his name, I knew he was gonna die a really horrible death like any other type of monster in this game. Especially since you made him deep throat a stick.
I disagree Specs. The Narrative was too much tell, not enough show. It could with a lot less subtlety. Still good narrative anyway. Falls short of great tho youāre right.
This game has some of the coolest fucking kills i ever seen. Doin Cornell in like that is respect. Took all that shit just to stop the guy lol.
Only Castlevania game Iāve played is Symphony, but recently Iāve found myself playing more. On my āTo playā list I have several different CV games: AoS, DoS, PoR, OoE, and SCIV.
Currently Iām at the final part of OoE in Dracās castle. I gotta say this game was way harder than Symphony, bosses do shitloads of damage.
You should add CV 1 and 3 on NES to your list. They may well be the best games in the series. I also hear good things about the Genesis Bloodlines game.

Iām probably months late to this party, but anyone who loves castlevania should check out dark souls if they havenāt already, it has a lot of similarities.
i want to see another metroidvania style castlevania game released as a AAA title, the handheld ones are great (some are even better than great), but it would be awesome to see the time really put in on superior animation, sound design, and graphical detail that the ps4 or xbox 3 will be able to allow.
CV 3 is my all time fav the crown jewel of nes hardware both musically and graphically.
I still need to finish LOS. It fell victim to the backlog. I have yet to check it out on my new TV; it makes me want to replay all my games again.
