IGN gave it a 7.5 and still cites framerate issues on the 360 version.
furthermore, they weren’t very flattering about the combat. they say its still a dumb mashy combat game a la god of war BUT they still mention the complex light/dark magic system - and from what I understood it can’t be both mindless and mashy AND complex due to magic convservation.
360 still has framerate issues? Wish someone could confirm it. Often times for early reviews, the reviewers (magazines, websites) get an early version of the game, not the retail version. Maybe the version they got did not have the fixed framerate problem?
Its weird, other reviews ive read state how the game’s combat is really methodical and its more than just button mashing. However, IGN seems to be the only one saying its nothing but mashy gameplay.
im not liking the sounds of this
i better get some unbiased reviews of this game when you guys get it
cause i dont want to buy "darksiders god of devil may bayonetta’s inferno " with a castlevania name
Good point. It seems like IGN just tries to run through a game as fast as possible on the easiest setting, and if the game doesn’t have one (God Hand) they tend to get pissy about the difficulty.
Gonna be streaming a play through of Super Castlevania IV in 50 minutes. I’m gonna attempt to 1 life it on hard mode while using the leather whip to kill Dracula.
After playing Bayonetta, and hell even god of war, I can tell that blocking is going to take some getting used to, since it has startup. Seems good from the demo, dumb that it comes out a day before release. AND you need gold to get it.
Yeah they timed this ALL wrong lol. Should have come out last week at least.
Yeah ‘synchronized blocking’ will take some getting used to but I do, like everyone else, like what I’m seeing here. Already in love with the art work from both characters and the environments they inhabit (and supermodel graphics make it all the more better). That bit at the end, with the jump? Shit is beautiful. Those are the kinds of things need to be seen in a Castlevania game. Gothic as fuck.
Picked up the PS3 version of LOS and played for 2 hours.
The controls, QTEs and a few things regarding how the game was made frustrated me in the beginning. However once I got the hang of few things it started to take shape as the legendary gaming experience I was hoping for. This game is awsome!
Comparing it to 2D Castlevanias is a conversation best left for another day. Still it beats the living daylights out of all of the 3D games.
Sure, it’s Devil May Cry + God of War + Castlevania and like I said it does take getting used to. Still the pay off is great and everything starts to come together after a while. Hang in there and keep playing.
I’m up to a giant Ice Titan now. Good times!
Picked up Lords of Shadow this morning. I ended up getting the LE mainly for the packaging, which is really nice and definitely unique to say the least; the art book and the game and soundtrack cases are actually all one in the same, one book which holds everything. Oh, and I’ve never been big on videogame-related T-Shirts but I have to admit it’s a pretty cool shirt, especially for a pre-order bonus.
