I will not lie when I say that I fucking hated Dawn of Sorrow… I played it for about half and hour… and brought it back to EB and traded for Elite Beat Agents.
Personally, I liked DoS more than PoR. No verdict on OoE yet, but the crab boss was EPIC.
…seriously.
The crab is pissing me the fuck off…
I didn’t like that I had to draw in Castlevania… That’s literally the only thing that kept bothering me… I fought two bosses and I put the game down… It was pissing me off too much.
Anyway… Crab boss is gay…
I personally didn’t like it the first hour either, but once I got my katans it was OVER. Second only to SOTN.
Also, didn’t know you could just walk up to EBGames and return perfectly working games and get your money back. Thats not good business >_>
edit: The drawing thing is gay. Thats the one big flaw I have with DoS. Luckily, the drawing gimmick is mostly in the first 30 mins or so, which you played lol. Those ice Blocks are nowhere to be found in 97% of the game.
That, and every boss fight. I hated that.
… You’re serious? Damn… I MIGHT pick it up again then…
I brought back the game after buying it used… My buddy is the manager there… So he let me trade it in for a game that was the same price.
as far as my list goes… 2, 3, and 1 were all gay to me… I didn’t get into Castlevania until SCIV and Dracula X… for the longest time I thought DX was better than Super IV also… who knows… I might change my thoughts on DoS…
OoE > DoS > PoR imo. just finished OoE, Dracula is free :<.
it wasnt even too hard to get his “dont get hit during boss battles” medal
Crab boss is awesome. Wait til you figure out how to beat him.
So far, one thing I like about OoE over DoS is the difficulty. DoS was just too damn easy, but I’m finding OoE pretty challenging. I’ve died a bunch. Depending on what kind of cool weapons/skills you can get s your progress in OoE, I’m thinking of ranking it above DoS too. Graphics are intense. Level design is spot-on. Crab boss already was the best Castevania boss fight I’ve ever seen. Difficulty is perfect.
…seriously.
I haven’t played a difficult Castlevania since SC4… This one’s hard…
Oh yes, I’m very serious. You should stick with, the level design is REALLY good later on(Demon Guest House, The Pinnacle is basically an upgraded Top Floor from AoS, Silenced Ruins is a great CV1 throwback 'cept its actually fun, and the Abyss is THE best CV final level ever).
Ok… What’s the difficulty like in it? I love challenging games… AKA, why I fucking HATED aria after I levelled up… There’s that one room with two red knights and a flying carpet… just use the shit that changes the opponents mp and hp and those things were toast… easy level ups.
Unfortunately, like most Castlevanias recently NOT named CotM(and apperently this game), its pretty easy. The only thing that REALLY pissed me off was the final boss, but if you come up there with the right weapon its a good challenge.
and I LOVE the fact that you can constantly upgrade weapons. You can start with a regular katana, but you can keep upgrading with rare enemy souls until you get this badass lightning katana w/ a couple of special abilities.
TBH, DoS’s difficulty level is practically non-existant. Aside from a couple boss fights (Gergoth!) the game is pitifully easy. Especially compared to OoE
…seriously.
Thing is with them… They always have something broke ass…
AoS: Stupid final weapon + room for easy level ups
SotN: soul steal + alucard shield + shield rod combo
PoR: 1000 blades
If you avoid these things, the game will typically be challenging.
As for bosses…
Gergoth, the fucking ball with the bodies, and anything with flying bees… they’ve always been a bitch…
what was the one in SotN? once you knock off his leg, you had to use the bat attacks and random ass axes and shit to beat it… the one with all the bees flying at you… only boss in that game that caused me a bit of trouble.
Sounds cool reaper… now to find it…again.
Oh, on a side note… Mine was packaged upside down too. lmao
Anyway, I’ve reached Albus, although I’m missing three villagers.
my god, galamoth DIDN’T give you trouble? you are one hardcore gamer.
Broken combos in recent CV games:
HoD = Wind Book + Fist, Ice Book + Bible
AoS = Claimh Solais, Chaos Ring + Lightning Doll
DoS = Muramasa 6-hit combos, same broken Chaos Ring + Lightning Doll combo, etc.
PoR = LOL 1000 Blades.
SotN = Crissaegrim, 2 Crissaegrims, Soul Steal, Shield Rod shenanigans, Keeping the Alucard equipment at the beginning of the game, Hydro Storm (for Richter), the bird hax (for Maria), the list goes on and on.
Fuck Galamoth, Crissaegrim cuts his ass down in about 10 seconds.
Crissaegrim cuts anyone and everyone’s ass in 10 seconds or less (even less with 2x Ring of Varda assist, or you get your money back). Guess I’m gonna give it a try, after seeing Reppukens and Raging Storms!
castlevania 3 for the nes was a good game. it had some very good music tunes
for back then.
SotN: Duplicator + Power of Sire
that’s another one… fucking duplicator was retarded gay… lol
i love two food tickets + duplicator in the corner… lmfao. Alucard could feed ethiopia!
Galamoth was the big pharoah lightening thing right? please… fucker was super easy… not even a sweat. i shit you not…
he only had two attacks, iirc…
stand back by the door when he shoots the black shit at you… go under him with the armor that absorbs lightening and attack his leg… dude’s mad easy… the one beezelbub? for some reason that fucker always gave me problems… i mean, now that i know the bat tactics and shit, it’s cake and like a 1 minute battle… but before that, after you take out the body, i could never figure out how to fight the top… i’d literally just hide in teh corner, come out when my magic was full and do soul steal… so scrubby and pointlessly long.
I think until this stupid crab thing, Beezelbub in SotN and that stupid giant in AoS gave me the most difficulty.
