The Castlevania Thread

I’ll try it again. Sometimes I think that emulator gets worse. I downloaded a new version back in June and tried to play TvC with my bro and it was unplayable compared to the older version of the emulator. :stuck_out_tongue:

The Vita version of Muramasa is better.

Is it? Well, I dont’ have one unfortunately or I’d probably have it by now.

I’m kind of surprised there haven’t been any Castlevania games on Vita.

CV on vita would be pretty dope. Does the Drac X collection work on vita?

Vita doesn’t get the support it deserves. If the Vita does get a Castlevania it would likely be a port.

I don’t know, I don’t have one. I was thinking of getting one but then a buddy gave me a PS3 so I scrapped the Vita idea.

I still play DXC all the time though. Still have my PSP copy and I even ripped it and put it on my iPhone so I can have it with me whenever the mood strikes. Symphony runs flawlessly too.

Kinda weird that there isn’t a CV game bejng released this fall. DXC, PoR and some of the others really made the end of the year for me.

I think it is apparent that the LoS series was the intended direction for CV.
Now that has ended, and ended poorly with LoS2.
IGA has left, right?

Someone probably ran numbers on LoS2 and decided to just take the L on CV.
This will go on until someone comes along with a dream like Ono did Street fighter 4.

Konami doesn’t mothball their big series like that. It is likely it will stay on the shelf until next year though as they already shopped the last instance out of house, they likely will try and do so again.

A more likely speculation is who are they going to try and get? I’d personally like to see them get From Software to handle it, with the existing mythos i think they could do the game justice.

From Software + Platinum games.

When you look at the sales history of Castlevania the series has never been a major seller for Konami. It’s honestly rather shocking that Konami continues to support the series as much as they do.

I see Konami releasing some more games on low risk platforms like Mobile, PSN and XBLA before tackling another AAA effort with the series.

the Megaman effect.

It doesn’t need “AAA” bullshit. This series, like its cousin Mega Man, just needs someone dedicated to 2D platforming to direct, high res 2D or cel-shaded 3D graphics, or whatever the fuck Vanillaware does, but on a higher level and thoughtful, intelligent level design with tight as fuck controls.

Oh, and it better star a goddamned Belmont with a fucking whip, none of these prissy, androgynous mofos Iga’s games were becoming known for.

I’d be ALL over that game, even though I know there’s no way in hell it’ll ever get made. But that’s part of why I loved DXC (and Adventure Rebirth to a lesser degree) because they were latter day takes on the classic formula which I consider to be the best one.

Castlevania really has always been that series that was popular enough to be known, but not popular enough that they couldn’t make changes to it. It’s really great actually. We’d likely have never gotten games like SoTN and LoS if the series were as popular as MGS.

I would pay approximately 60 dollars for a game covering the events of 1999. We know the ending but we could get an awesome game out of the events, like with Lufia 2.

I think the 1999 game would wind up being an RTS

The 1999 game should be like Harmony of Despair but not shit.

I haven’t tried HoD. What was bad about it other than being made of recycled parts?

Some interesting stuff here
