Kojima only supervised development so it doesn’t have all that. Hints of his signature are there. Be prepared for being told character development without actally seeing it.
Kojima is the master of useless information.
Kojima is the master of making 3 other games that backdate one game just to explain the plot holes he put into it by the sequel of the first game, therefore actually creating more plotholes. Also technology is evil and all that.
I liked the ending, but yeah, what we’re told about Gabriel in the narration and what we’re actually shown during cutscenes don’t match up very well.
Man, it’s like forcing people to remember what it’s like to read a book. Remember when your parents told you bed time stories? Well, it’s like Patrick Stewart is telling you bed time stories in between chapters. This covers things like Gabriel’s mindset, how he feels, and other things not often conveyed well through a video cutscene without a ton of cheesy CGI melodrama. It also gives you hints of the story from the Narrator’s view, who happens to be a character in the game, allowing time to develop his inner character and thought process as well.
You also had the dead knight scrolls, which also filled in lore between the lines. Yep, the game forced people to read to understand more of the game world around their character. Score +2 for Mercury Steam.
I actually liked this, it’s one of the things LoS did well.
The first half did a pretty good job, but then you start to gather about halfway through the game that the narration more reflects a certain other character and his motives more, especially towards the end when it becomes clear what’s going on. It’s a slow tug of war from observation of Gabriel to manipulation of Gabriel.
Lords of Shadow sucks just like God of War sucks.
I’m disappointed in my fellow Claw player, for having to constantly toss in his 2 cents that has nothing to do with the discussion at hand and derailing a perfectly fine conversation.
B-tier for Bitchy
That’s all he does, get sand in his vagina over comments and then twisting those panties in a knot for good measure. I rarely visit the Bitchingvania thread these days for these reasons.
Handheld 3DS title coming up looks badass though.
Maining Vega, I thought you’d have better tastes. I can see I was mistaken.
Guys, if you want a true current gen Castlevania experience, Dark Souls is $26 on Steam right now. You can’t go wrong with that.
LoS for me was underwhelming and not at all what I wanted for the future of the series, granted the money investment was really good (Patrick isn’t cheap), in the end the game felt devoid of a soul and a identity. Unrefined mechanics taken from other games (like the QTE Colossus battles), lacking story and character development, and overall weak twists, failed to grasp a CV feel it took a long time for the atmosphere to get momentum only to lose it again, and forgettable music in a CV game for me is a crime.
The good aspects were: the graphics, especially the background and some monster designs, shaky cam didn’t helped but it was a very pleasant game to look at. Some boss battles were well done, like Malphas/Cornell bosses, none of the QTE Colossus were though, good VAs, but I’m not talking about Patrick, hearing other accents in games are a nice break.
To me it felt as much as a CV as Master of Darkness would. It isn’t one of my favorites, but I’m genuinely curious for the future plans. But someday I hope a different team (with more balance in the whole western/eastern philosophies) take the lead on a different CV.
Yeah, I liked what they did with the narration and how you see it differently once you get farther into the game. I just wish they had a few more scenes like the one between Gabriel and the priest in Wygol village so what Gabriel does matches up the with narration a bit better. But then, he didn’t have too many characters to interact with aside from various monsters, so that’s probably why it got stuck in the narration in the first place.
Oh well. It’s a relatively minor gripe, I enjoyed the story overall.
When LoS2 comes out I’m making a new thread for it. I’m tired of the back and forth on it. I get that it’s decisive with fans but damn y’all. Niggas can’t go a day without mentioning the game and it turning into a debate.
I probably won’t get LoS2 on release date because i don’t typically buy the new portable consoles until much later but I will play it eventually. I hope that enemies don’t become damage sponges though. Some games tend to do that for harder difficulties and longer boss fights, and plus this game probably won’t have the typical shenanigans you can do with backdash canceling and shorthopping attacks to get a lot of quick hits in. Since they are bringing swinging back (hopefully it’s swinging where you can control momentum, rather than something automated) I would like to see what there harder platforming areas would be. Though I hope they keep something like jump kicks in and the extra jump from bopping someone on the head or even the diagonal jump kick because it’s actually fun to do that since you go faster and if you jump kick an edge in HOD you can get a boost from it.
playing the game since 3 makes you an expert, don’t you fucking forget it.
I’ll buy the game when it is $15 in a bargain bin somewhere. I will then enter your thread and further give my opinions. So far though the trailer for LoS2 looks like the Battle of Helms deep with Alucard. The music is still generic as fuck too.
I’ve been playing since 2, does that make me more of an expert? O_o
The word you want is divisive.
Haha I was going to point that out too, but I figured why bother. “Polarizing” would also work in that context ;).
you bet your ass it does.
