The Cartoons and Animation Thread

Not to mention one of the major arcs in the spidey cartoon was secret wars.

Spidey gave us way more truthful adaption to alot of major arcs than xmen. I dunno why but spidey never gets the respect that xmen gets for some reason

To be serious though. I enjoyed Spider-Man a lot more than X-Men though it had more of my favorite characters. Well, characters I knew/recognized would be a more accurate description.

I think the main reason I enjoyed Spider-Man more because even if you missed a few episodes you usually didn’t miss out on much unless it was a major arc or towards the end with all the Madame Spider shit.

With X-Men if you missed a few episodes, sometimes even a single episode it felt like you miss an installment in a major franchise due to so much going on in that show. Which made it confusing and frustrating to follow sometimes.

I never felt lost following Spidey like I did with X-Men.

Gargoyles for as good as it was honestly had the same issue X-Men had.

Spidey’s intro went hard too:

90s X-Men theme was a bop…90s Spiderman theme was a banger.

I think Spider-man had the better BGM compared to X-men TAS
.I’d rank it at no 3 after Batman TAS and G1 Transformers/GIJOE on my own personal list.

I think two factors that keeps it from being as fondly remembered are:

  1. They couldnt really have good fights and were under stricter rules from Broadcast Standards… Spidey never threw a standard punch at anyone. After Power Rangers debuted, people were all about anti violence and that affected Spideys action

  2. They reused animation WAY TOO much. So many flashback scenes, various webslinging shots. Hell, it was so bad that I remember seeing spidey swinging around with a bomb strapped to his wrist from an early episode where he was bound to Jameson in later episodes.

Also, I think more people liked the ending to X-men TAS with Xavier on his deathbed saying a moving speech to all the characters and getting Magnus to help out.
Spider-man TAS finale was good, but I was a little annoyed that the real Mary Jane was somewhere in another limbo.

The censorship on Spider-Man was hysterical. They have vampires on the show but can’t say or show blood so have Morbius crave plasma instead and sucks blood through his hands. Let’s have the Punisher on the show even though he can’t kill anyone. The Sinister Six had to be renamed the Insidious Six. Can’t kill Mary Jane so throw her into a multiverse portal.

I heard 90s Xmen may be gettin a continuation, hopefully a 90s Spiderman follows, still a few unanswered questions

How bad they nerfed carnage really upset me. Especially since it was after I just read the novelization and comic run of maximum carnage.

Bruh i forgot that Young Justice is back

SHOOOOOOOCK!

Meh…don’t care for the show that can’t remain consistent on many things. I was disappointed with adventure time’s movie…

I’m so fucking stoked for this. I wish it was getting a theatrical release like TTG! did but I’m okay with this too.

I never seen Steven Universe but their fans don’t make sense to me. I don’t get how they can love the show yet hate the person behind it. Rebecca Sugar catches a lot of shit when I see the show discussed.

There’s shitty fans in every fandom. Just look at comics, pro wrestling and fucking Star Wars.
