The Boxing Thread

Hey since there are some practicing boxers here, anyone know the secret behind Foreman’s tremendous knockout power? Sure he looks very strong, but his punches aren’t very fast or precise and his footwork doesn’t look very good.

Hatton got that Jonah hill weight gain lol.

I don’t think there is a secret. Foreman just hits hard. All his punches are crazy stiff and he basically throws with all his weight behind him. So imagine getting hit by a 250lb medicine ball with extra force behind it.

if you were ever gonna pick a fight with him…its def in the off season. nigga aignt hittin anything but a mcdonalds.

You need to look up Ernie Shavers. Some dudes are just known to hit hard. Shavers fought Foreman and Ali and Frazer. He was known as the hardest hitting boxer of all time. I dunno, as a practicing boxer… some people just have it in relation to power and some don’t. Some dudes can just hit hard with both hands. Some have one good punch etc. That said if you’re just starting, its all about being more planted during certain punches and all of your power comes from your legs and ass. All good coaches will make you sit down on your hooks and uppercuts. Again though, sometimes you just meet some people that have crazy power. If you see a guy actually KO’ing people as an amateur they’re usually pretty special.

Can’t teach strength. Ask Malignaggi, lol.

Just born with ko power

You work your back muscles, chop wood, work on your hips and explosion

A guy big like buster douglas had less ko wins than smaller tyson

Tyson was a small heavyweight

Towards the end he was pushing 240, though which is kinda crazy considering most people that have seen him say that he’s like 5’8.

I’m 5’9 240

Wish i was as solid as tyson

You are trying too hard Thurst. It is already obvious that Pacquiao was selling his “injury” so that the rematch will come in. Come on.

At 240, Tyson wasn’t that solid. When he was 215-225, for sure.

tyson looked like a fucking grown ass man at 15. if their was ever proof about slave masters trying to breed a super nigga, that fucker is living it.

Lol “injury”, good one! Seriously though, that strategy was the exact same one De La Hoya used against Floyd and it almost won him the fight on the cards because he was able to bully Floyd and throw flashy flurries at the end of every round.

If they didn’t push Mayweather during that DLH fight we wouldn’t have such a rivalry between Floyd and Pac. Pac’s performance was definetly seeds for the whole “injury” issue. The rematch would not sell if this fight ended in a fully agreed clean victory or a close match up on paper. That is why the whole shoulder issue just came out of nowhere and why Hollyfield and some others were claiming Pac won the fight.

There’s not going to be a rematch. Assuming he has this surgery, Pac isn’t fighting for over a year. His first fight back after surgery is going to be Mayweather? Doubt it. So that would put the rematch like 18 months from now. 40 year-old Floyd vs. 38 year-old Pac? At best, we get a slightly more competitive version of this fight. At worst (and more likely), Floyd and/or Pac or noticeably slower and less themselves.

Either Pac retires now or he retires after the rematch if it happens. And Floyd only has a couple of fights left in him too. I can see Floyd actually taking the rematch just because he knows he has Pac even more by the balls, has another competitive advantage, and the fact that he knows that Pac isn’t much competition right now. He’ll take another huge payday for sure, and it would be a better way for both to go out than Floyd fighting a couple of bums to coast to either 49 or 50-0 and Pac retiring still believing he won a fight that he wasn’t even close in.

I doubt it too. They will probably have Paulie Malinaggi or some other scrub job to Pacquiao first.

No. I really think that Pac will win the retirement match… Floyd will put him over next year.

vamos canelo!

there is def gonna be a rematch. yall niggas are crazy…the pacman excusers are gonna be shelling out a 75 dollar pricetag. watch it will only drop like 20 bucks.

Its so sad to see Kirkland now. Yeah dude hits hard, but it is obvious that he is punch drunk and has taken way too many blows.

“that little red head muthafucka can fight”. Best quote of the episode.
