how many people dropped weight to fight floyd? @CUTWEST can prob answer that. im not sure.
if GGG wants the money vs canelo he will do what canelo says, simple boxing politics. its how the game is now and how its been since floyd first starting making hundreds of millions of dollars. bigger draw dictates the terms. floyd wasnt even the champ when he fought cotto IIRC and cotto came out first LOL
Heck even Khan was talking about cutting weight in the 24/7 episode. If you try to go lighter that hat you are used to then you will most likely lack the power and energy to really compete effectively.
Even Cincinnati niggas donāt like Broner. I coached a kind in wrestling who trained at the same gym Broner trained at. A lot of people in the boxing community wish he would stop with the antics and just focus on becoming better.
My thoughts exactly. Or maybe its his camp who is kind of feeding into his head that GGG isnāt worth his time. Probably because they know it could end in a loss.
Oh I didnāt realize that GGG was the mandatory contender as well. Yeah, Canelo is scared. SMH @ niggas being the supposed champ of a weightclass and then refusing to fight at the full weight. 155 lbs for a middleweight fight? Fuck outta here.
Mayweather doesnāt need to get anybody to drop weight to fight him. With all that control he has on his matches and the fact that his whole style and tactics is something that only he can use anyway. Whatās the need for a catch weight if barely throwing a punch at a guy and running away is all that is needed to win? Fighting is not the spirit of boxing. All these idiots who are sparring should just shell up, dodge around, run away to random corners, clutch to turn, through out their rounds⦠why make an effort to even extend an arm?
You know, i really tried going for this as a career. Just about 5 months ago i had about 7 sparing matches. Everytime the opponent tried to come close, i just ran a bit back. There was one time where I was about 1/3 away from the center, and my opponent tried to come up to me with jabs⦠i just ducked and ran the other way. If i was stuck in a corner, i just shelled up, grabbed him, and then used that to change my position. I still ran after that. I kept repeating these moves⦠i threw in one punch to maybe about 5 in total in that round of 8 minutes, they all connected. I didnāt do damage with those single punches, but that doesnāt matter because since when do you even need to exert any energy that is stronger than a tap in boxing? I mean, I should get nut ridden too for this scientific form of fighting⦠but for some reason, I lost them all. The coach kicked me out of the gym for not doing shit. WTF?
I find this VERY hard to believe. Any gym Iāve ever been around has never kicked a fighter out(with some small exceptions for EXTREME Antics of people who had a ton of fights and their heads blew upā¦) and Iāve been around a lot of different gyms and dojos. Especially if youāre capable of sparring for 7+ rounds/7 different opponents. Just providing a different look even if its not a good one is still good sparringā¦
You can see where Iām going with this cant you?..
This is a good example of seeing someone off the street challenge a gym and get sonned. I like how the coach turned it into a teachable moment, and then kicked him out.
You know what, i said that. But according to him, just running around and throwing 1-5 punches per round with out damage is not boxing⦠i was better off just sparring for the sake of having fun than dreaming of having a career, he said. My last sparing match was āhis last strawā, I did throw a punch here and there⦠they didnāt make any strong sounds, but i remained untouched because i just ran through out each round instead.
I think itās more his camp. I bet if it were Caneloās choice, they would already have the fight on track.
You know, Iāve been watching a lot of Mayweather lately, and I donāt see what it is youāre talking about. Watch the Mayweather/Cotto fight, heās throwing a lot of hands there, but it depends on who heās fighting. If heās fighting someone like Ortiz whoās more aggressive than someone like Cotto, itās more likely heās going to trade hits and possibly come out on the bad end of it, so he picks his moments rather than just throwing hands out and hoping he lands something. For all the shit people talk about Floyd, when you watch him, heās brilliant. Is he the greatest? No, but heās up there with or without the ālegacy.ā
A lot of the same stuff youāre saying could apply to Ali as well, Look at Ali/Liston as a good example; the main reason Ali was able to win that fight was because Liston couldnāt touch him, and if he had been able to, it would have ended badly for Ali. Ali knew this, which is how he won despite being a massive underdog in that fight.
