The Blu-ray Thread v1.0

I gotta go check this out. I didn’t order transformer alone. I also got some dvd shows. I wish the exchange rate wasn’t so shitty right now…:arazz:

I did not know this import was out. Has anyone heard anything about PQ on this?

Goonies (Blu-Ray Import)

i’m looking for these now but can’t seem to find it. Is it over already?

I picked up Crank and all the Rambos. Rambo 1-3 is really cheap on amazon right now.

Has any Canadian picked up Nightmare on Elm Street on BD? It’s not out here in the US s I was curious how the PQ is.

The page I linked originally had the Blu-rays listed. At midnight it changed to the official Black Friday DVD page. Go to the left & click Blu-ray and it’ll show all the Blu-rays on sale (252 of them!).

new tv should be arriving on thurs or fri. I have been holding off watching any blu ray movies until it comes because what’s the point?

here are the current titles I own. I’ve tried not to double dip from my dvd collection

Resident Evil 3 - came with the ps3, heard it was decent
Crank - because I love Chev Chelios
Rambo 1-4 - never upgraded my vhs to dvd so figured now was a good time (even though I dont really like 2 or 3)
Halloween - I think I’ve bought this movie like 8 times from anchor bay now. but i still love it
Evil Dead 2 - I actually never upgraded my vhs so I figured now was the time
Terminator - because I bought part 2
Terminator 2 - impulse buy

Is Dimension going to start releasing more stuff on blu ray? I would get Inside, their Hellraiser sequels, probably a few others

Crank has amazing PQ, but you’ll probably want to double dip on your favorite titles after you see the difference. I would also recommend WALL-E. Best PQ ever.

I think Troy is the best looking blu-ray…

I got another gift card from work the other day. I couldn’t think of any games I wanted, so I’ve decided to wait for the Dark Knight BD, which is out in a few weeks.

You mean a week from now?

Don’t forget, Christopher Nolan will be joining/participating in a BD Live community Dec. 18th.

I actually haven’t bought the DVD of that yet because I am holding out for the Blu_ray. I couldn’t find any info on if it is being released though.

Like sep said, you actually may end up double dipping once you get your TV. Certain movies just scream HD. Highly reccomend picking up the Blade Runner set, it’s pretty damn cheap for all four cuts, and it is probably the most impressive clean up/transfer I have seen. That was my first double dip.

What the hell, vacuum cleaners!?

I guess people partied REAL hard over the holiday.

Does anyone know if Criterion’s oft delayed blu-ray of The Last Emperor will have the original 16:9 aspect ratio or Vittorio Storaro’s 2:1 butchering?

last emp was 2.35:1 widescreen not 1.78:1

thanks. basically I want to know is if Storaro is butchering it again

Also, this: http://fwd.five.tv/videos/news-bluray-vs-dvd-upscale

These will explain upscaling pretty well.

You know what I want to see on BD? Seven Samurai.

ugh…just the thought of having to double dip on my kurosawa criterions… (yes I own them all)

Which is why I’ve been holding out on them so long(although I already got Seven Samurai and the Hidden Fortress).
