Hahaa, it’s the only way to really watch T2
So wait… I was thinking of picking up T2 one of these days on BD. You guys are saying that the HDDVD of it was superior to the BD one? How does this happen? Didn’t the BD one come out 2nd? Why would they not use the same cut?
I think Wall-E is a better movie than TDK. I liked both though. My two favorites in 2008.
Yeah, I heard the T2 Blu-ray wasn’t that impressive. I haven’t actually bought it yet.
My T2 DVD is Dolby 5.1.
I guess they wanted people to double dip? Mind you, the HDDVD one is only on import, they have a German and French version.
Pretty much. They had some mega ultimate edition on dvd, that had the theatrical cut, the extended version, and tons of other shit. While the BD only has the theatrical cut and that is it. Nothing extra.
t2 on blu-ray was one of the first releases.
all of the early releases sucked quality wise.
the hd dvd’s were later on and from different studios who put more time into them. lionsgate probably just reused the master from a previous dvd version and rushed it out the door
I got a Clockwork Orange on Blu Ray on sale at a local movie shop a few weeks ago. I can definitely tell the difference from an upscale DVD on the Blu Ray release. Close up shots look great but things otherwise look slightly out of focus. Overall it’s not bad but I was expecting 2001: A Space Odyssey levels of restoration.
For those that have TDK already, does the aspect ratio change on the IMAX parts? Also, is the quality different in those parts?
EDIT: Forgot to add that the Longs drug store I stop at on my way home, had BD discs. They were all on sale for $19.99, but it was really a small selection and nothing I really wanted. It is a great sign though, cheaper and more accessible to the common man. Hopefully this pattern keeps up and we see more stores picking them up.
Yeah, ratio changes.

Check that out. It’s an article written in 1996 about how DVD would fail.
Sound familiar?
The reviews are up for TDK on various websites.
It looks like the Blu-ray is pretty damn good, but anything other than “OMG PERFECT! BEST BLU-RAY EVER” is a disappointment for the biggest, most marketable movie in the past decade. Why Warner didn’t give this movie their absolute very best treatment is totally beyond me.
There’s your answer. Warner.
I have to buy The Kingdom.
Yeah, no kidding. Love them to death as a studio. When it comes to Blu-ray, they’re garbage.
i just checked amazon for some blu-ray deals and there seems to be a buy 2 get 1 for free deal. good time to cop batman begins and V for vendetta.
At 2 AM Pacific, there’s going to be a couple Blu-rays on sale.
Kung Fu Panda will be going for 14.99
Transformers for 9.99
Iron Man for 14.99
& a couple more.
Edit:
Actually, Transformers is already going for 9.99 & Iron Man is already going for 14.99. That’s the PRE-Black Friday price. At 2 AM Pacific, they will be even cheaper than that!
How much cheaper are they going to be? I already ordered Transformers.
Wish we had Black Friday in canada.
lol, these deals are absolute shit for Canadians.
Exchange rate + import fee + shipping = retail price. There’s a store in Chinatown that sells BDs for 15$ haha.
LOL Yellow. We got one of those here in Edmonton too. So I guess every day is black friday.
