Apparently, New Line is joining on the Blu-Ray bandwagon time.
Somewhere, Septimus Prime is giddy with excitement.

It’s funny how WB mentions the Blu Ray version of “300” earlier, (hinting at a possible switch) which had less features than HD DVD. It was the numbers in the end that spoke, not the special feature technology.
LOTR ftw, maybe Star Wars (yeah its FOX who is already exclusive) saga??? and Batman Begins(finally!) saga
All hail Blu-ray, oh and for no reason, this is what I have.

I think the fact that Blade Runner was pretty much bought out completely by Blu-ray owners also said something to WB, that the demographic isn’t just there for loud explosions.
To coaster and/or frisbee fans, I just have this to say to them…why so serious? ; )
Just a rumor for now:
The HD-DVD press conference at CES has been cancelled.
Take it with a grain of salt.
EDIT:
Update: http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/CES_2008/HD_DVD_Promo_Group_Cancels_CES_Press_Conference/1331
will the BOGOs disappear?
Nope, they still need people to replace their DVD (and what HDDUDs they have) libraries with Blu-rays.
The new fight is Blu-ray vs SD-DVD.
300 numbers were skewed IMO because anyone who bought a HD DVD player after october got 300 for free which wasn’t counted
<<BD’s extra storage allows for better audio (DTSHD, lossless PCM etc) without compromising anything else>>
plenty of HD DVD disks have TrueHD audio without having to compromise anything else
in fact the winner for best sound of the year didn’t even have lossless audio! (Transformers)
on top of that, the people who have the expensive systems to play those audio tracks is so small, plus people who have PS3 (the main blu ray player) can’t even play those tracks
and i think the reason they were horrible at first was because they were rushing out the release and just threw some random crap out there before HD DVD got a big control of the market. mpeg2 codec is pretty bad, but crank one of the best looking titles was mpeg2. They just did a lazy job with the other titles to get them out quickly.
but i hope blu ray comes out with something like U control, that was interesting
and i hope they learn how to utilize BDj because the first couple of titles are horrible relative to HDi
also i hope they fix their hardware issues. a majority of their non PS3 players can’t be upgraded to 1.1 and a lot of them have many other issues.
Call off the search team, we’ve found Waldo. http://forums.highdefdigest.com/showpost.php?p=592901&postcount=10
Man, that nigga REALLY loves that Blu-Ray.
Those are all fine examples of software over-and under-utilizing the tech, or more specifically, the hardware/physical medium. The data pits are more dense on BD, the transfer rates are faster on BD… HD-DVD tech is lacking but many of its shortcomings have been inconsequential so far…

i went to my local TRU and most of othe blu-rays were all sold out.
I did get Ratatouille and Pirates 1 with 2 $5 dollar disney coupon and my total came out to $17.09!!! That’s like $8.55 a Blu-ray.
hopefully they’ll restock soon so i can grab more.
I just got a message from my future self:
Now, this seems slightly presumptuous, but keep in mind, this is from the future.
I remember thinking HD-DVD has a chance if they can somehow get Star Wars or LOTR exclusively, but FOX / WB own those, huh? Also, rumor has it that Paramount will be pushing for an escape clause in their exclusivity contract. NBC / Universal isn’t bound by contract… HEROES / MONK / PSYCH / BURN NOTICE ON BLU-RAY PLEASE.
Now waiting for Batman Begins to come on bluray. =D
i noticed wings of honneamise as a pre-order/coming soon for blu ray on the best buy site. it got me excited for anime on blu ray. evangelion, miyazaki films and cowboy bebop need to get released asap!
also, looking forward to initial D movie being released in a few weeks…
anyone have the kung fu hustle disc? good transfer?
also, over the weekend i saw there was a sale on a few BRs at best buy, like superbad and spiderman 3 for $20. i’m not sure if it’s still going on, but seemed like a pretty decent deal…
borders also has a sale buy 2 get 1 free on dvds and this includes hi-def media… but i think it ends today… prices are a little high there anyways, but you can basically save a few bucks, shrug…
Wings Of Honneamise is out already, iirc. I saw it at Virgin Megastore. 80 bucks for the set. It comes with both the Blu-Ray and DVD edition.
I also have the Kung Fu Hustle BD. I’ll give it a watch tonight and see if the transfer was good since I just recently got it and haven’t viewed it.
