I would say Extreme / Primal Fury is probably the best version simply because it’s a hyped up version of 3 with more stuff. I’ll do tiers for 4 later but I can tell you offhand that top is probably Dragon Ryuho and Reiji.
The Bloody Roar franchise is a bit onderrated and rightfully so.
A great deal of their games are less than good. Only 2 stands out
as being the best, with 3 being moderate, and the rest…BAD.
1-3 had excellent set ups in design. First of, the artist. Naochika Morishita is a KICK ASS artist who made the series look
dark and primal. Even scenes of the characters during the day
made them look dark in nature. They really need to bring back
Naochika, because(his/her?) designs were EXCELLENT. The
characters outfits were pretty okay, except for Gado’s in BR3.
WTF is THAT Gado?!
2-3 had a very good soundtrack IMO. The Heavy Metal music went
very well with the overall theme of the series. The later games
mixed it with some jazz-like techno, killing it.

They’ve got a pretty decent line-up of human/animals. They could
use more animals that are more diverse.
Their storymode was actually rather interesting. It followed a
set line up to part 3. Once Primal Fury (Extreme) came out, they
totally changed some characters and their storylines had little
sense.
Alice had blue hair/red eyes. Primal fury she’s a brunette with
normal eyes. Uhm…okay?
Stun got WAAAAAAAAAAY too big. He was thin in BR2, got pumped in
3, got MAXED in PF. Not to mention that he was killed in BR3…
Xion was turned into a good person at the end of BR3. Yet in PF
and 4, he’s back to being an evil bastard. The hell?
Yugo no longer leads his faction anymore?
Who the F*** is Kohryu & Uranus? All we get are character bios
via a game manual, and yet, no actual storylines. They’ve been
in BR 3, 4, and PF. What the hell Hudson?!
They need to get the guys who made the storymodes for BR 2 & 3,
Osamu Kagoshima, & Noriaki Suganuma.
Their combo systems eventually became the most broken ass shit
ever. Honest to god, they have to clean that up. Reiji is broken
as hell, among others. :rolleyes:
The graphics on PF (extreme) were the best. The characters simply
did not look better. They need to get and keep those graphics.
The Voice acting also kills this game. WHY oh WHY must it be
dubbed? The only BR game with a half-decent VA cast was again,
Primal Fury. The others are so god-awful (ESPECIALLY BR4) that
it just makes me wish I imported the games.

damn red exodus knows his stuff…anywayz he’s right BR could be a really good series…i’t neeeds to be takin over by a company like say namco who has had sucsess with 3-d fighters (Tekken-Soul Caliber)
The voice actor for Bakuryu in Primal Fury was the voice actor for old-school TMNT Leonardo…and Naochika Morishita definitely brought the artistic ownage. Here’s the site.
WHY WAS PRIMAL FURY so much better than the others! It has those cool animated endings. BR4 had the worst voice acting ever! when you do a close up of a character and there sentance is over but the mouth still happens to be moving that looks like crap!

Exodus how do u think they will be able to animals with no legs like sharks and serpents? I thought they should do something like that but then I thought I wouldn’t look right if they had no feet! Would the shark guy be like the sharks fro street sharks or will he float feetless? Also how could they do a stallion and actually make him look tuff? and it would look dumb with those hoves! I think the should add a ram character because I’ve seen a ram-man on a cartoon once and it’s looked cool! I think it was batman beyond! The rest of ur ideas are really cool!

yea I understand but being a serpent with legs makes u a lizard right? and a shark with legs has been done and look how shitty street sharks was! I think it would be tuff to give these animals arms and legs and stuff! yea bats don’t have long legs but they do in fact have legs! that would make it easier for them to make a bat-girl and boar do not have fingers or arms for that matter but they do have front hooves that could possibly become hands, amrs, and fingers!

after 3 bloody roars the 4th was the only one that was bad! i’m predicting that BR5 will revive the series.Seriously i don’t think I can name 5 Hudson Soft makes that as just fell off and became a bad game! I don’t remeber but I think Konami made BR4…I know konami’s history and I couldn’t name at least 5 games that they have made that wasn’t actually good so I believe that Konami can straighten this out and end the trend of bad 3-D fighter’s!

You know, one of my favorite things about this series would have to be the Fast Evade technique. Basically, holding guard and tapping forward when someone attacks you will allow you to sway around the incoming blow, kind of like a mixture of S-Groove sidestep and parrying but requiring lightning fast timing.
But the Counter Evade thing has to go because it kind of makes using Heavy attacks extremely high risk ( especially in 4 if you’re fighting Reiji. )
but…people i play this with evade just to be doin it…even when i’m not attacking. it becomes a race!
It serves to make defensive characters a lot better / higher tier than they would be otherwise, like Stun, Ganesha, Shina ( well, depending on how you play her ). It also makes countering a little more intuitive. DOA could learn a thing or two…not bashing on DOA though, 'cause I like DOA, just, Evade feels more natural than Counter Holds do for some reason or other.
