If the Chun-Li knows what they are doing then you are in for a battle. The good thing is that they made the Hurtbox on her MP come out faster so this now helps Bison in this match up. Chun players like to use that fireball to get Bisons to jump and make mistakes. The fireball disappears though so you can back off and dance with Chun. I usually use St.MK and St.HK and if she jumps I cross under but you have to be careful with that. In this match up, headstomp and devil reverse should DEFINITELY not be abused as Chun punishes it hard. LK SK pressure needs to be applied to keep out of corner lockdown situations.
Was I on crack when I thought far s mp canceled into hk scissors?
Yeah see 2 characters =/= bad air priority. The characters you mentioned are the ones that can beat Bison out in the air. Need to outplay/ use footsies in this case. Otherwise
hell attack or even jump forward wrecks massive shop in this game.
Also, another character to watch out in the air is Heihachi. He beats hell attack too. Other characters probably lose unless you totally botched the timing,
Check out the first video. I’ve been doing this for a while but never thought to put it out there. There are many different ways you can set it up but this is just one way. 4:32-4:38. If you do it right, you are actually very safe on block, Might even be plus. I use this to keep the pressure up.
Great stuff, it never dawned on me that you could juggle afterwards, but it makes total sense.
Just like in SSFIV, you can change your timing and strength of the punch button to change crossup vs normal hit, but more importantly, you can change the timing to avoid reversal DPs.
damn big boss…are you the first person to discover this? I remember joining in when sfxt first came out and we were all looking for bnbs and other combo possibilities but I don’t think anyone caught this…damn…that is a really huge chunk of damage when you tally it all together.
so bison has a legit 50/50 reset that can lead to fat damage…who woulda thunk it.
To be honest, I would say that I am but IDK. I discovered this long ago in vanilla and just started playing with it some more. I didn’t want to put it out for competitive reasons but I’ve had a change of heart and people are always asking me about Bison stuff so I said why not. I would say I’m the only one doing it consistently. I’m in the lab as I type this trying to get my setups down again. Since I have a capture card now, I can actually put stuff out. Always knew about it but never really put it out there. And yes you get BIG damage off it. You could tag cancel as you saw in the video. Go into super, or just do some other crazy stuff like set up a hard knockdown. I’ll be working on this video as my next project so just be on the look out for that. Bison is really strong so this just makes him deadlier. Combine that with his walkspeed and you could just walk under someone and set this up. If we put are Bison heads together (No homo) then we could come up with more stuff I’m sure.
Heads up though it doesn’t work on Law lol.
I’m telling you guys that tech is so great. Scratch that what I said on Law. If you do it right, Law’s Flip Kick will whiff. Just got done playing Sethlolol so I know it works. Man Kuma is ridiculous.
Alright so I had someone test out the frame data for the setup if it is blocked (see video) and it leaves Bison at +/- 0 on block which is great. A lot of players don’t know this and automatically try to DP or boost tag right when they see this so it’s an easy way to get a punish.
took me three tries to find the right Bison subforum! Jesus christ get your shit together, SRK
that crossup tech is amazing. I’ve done it before from distances where the LP PC hits pretty much right at the end of the active frames, but I had no idea it was possible to get it consistently off a combo like that. It works off of jumping attack, c. LP, s. LP, c. MK xx LK Scissors too… I usually do the s. LP instead of s. LK because of force of habit from SF4. Definitely gonna be practicing the timing on this~
I’m actually in the Lab now working on the video. There are 15 or 16 setups for it actually. If I can get this edited tonight, I should have it up by tomorrow. When I do, let me know what you guys think of the video. Its some pretty good tech indeed. Hope it helps you, Viscant, Sno, and I hope it brings the Bison Army back together. Haha.
really looking forward to this vid props for spreading the good word<br>
<font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>You know…the more I play the new version of the game the worse of a mood I get in. I don’t claim to be very good at this game at all, but really I see what seems to just be the crowning of Capcom’s lack of caring for this character. In a game where most characters have more options than they’ve ever had, all I see is a character who has almost no juggle, low damage output, and low meter building capabilities (for a highly meter dependent character). The two things that I think this character does well are footsies and pressure/throw, but all of the characters who have equal footsies have better damage capabilities and just like in every other game if you hold down back against Bison that takes away his only mixup in pressure/throw. Looking at his frame data I am still confused as how you could ever frame trap anyone, the only moves with enough + frames on block to make a 2 or 3 frame gap are s lk and cl mk. With a pressure string like this what are you really going to do? There is no incentive for the opponent to hit buttons because you don’t have an overhead. There’s no punishment for the opponent if they’re caught backdashing either since the worst that could happen would be a hard knockdown from a slide, where you can start your 1 hit (no juggle) crossup psycho crusher?</span></font><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>Forward/back mixup has gotten worse since AE and definitely worse than half the cast, mostly due to his inability to cross up with any other jumping attack other than j mk, which has such a tight distance requirement that any movement on the opponent’s part can change that into a non-crossup. The quickstand psycho crusher thing that The Big Boss showed above is good, but take into account Bison’s terrible juggle potential on his moves and you really need to tag cancel in order to do any real amount of damage. Additionally, since your second hit is a c lk you’re already diluting the damage potential a lot due to damage scaling. I am probably doing it wrong, but the timing is tighter than other juggle links for characters that I play (Bryan, Hworang) for less damage.<br></span></font><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>I also find it extremely ironic that they made his s mp a lot better, a move that really reminds me of CvS2 but instead of making him a high reward character like in that game he’s really just taking up space for you to raw launch into your partner’s combo. He really feels like a crappier Vega or Chun. If anyone cares to tell me where I’m mistaken that would be nice, I’m finding it hard to be interested in this game since these discoveries.</span></font></div></div>

I don’t know what to tell you. I’m having no problem with Bison whatsoever. I feel like his juggle potential is good. Especially since you can juggle off of MK/HK SK. As far as the tech I showed you, you don’t have to juggle with cr.LK. You can juggle with St.MP. But I’ll save that for the video. And also, I wouldn’t call 324 from a crossup psycho crusher low damage which in fact you can go into super, and cross art for additional damage. If you can, post your gameplay in the Bison Media thread then maybe I can help you out. I played offline the other day and I can’t tell you how many times I framed trapped people.
standard frame trap in ae was off of 1 hit crouching short. you have to set up frame traps with tic throws first, not just hope they push buttons. new crossup is jmp forward, st fierce, st strong xx mk sk, st strong xx crusher for solid damage and you can tag cancel it. st mk to rh chain is godlike in a game where boost combos are so crucial. we can get two st strongs now off of two meaty walkup shorts xx mk juggle. hard knockdown off dr. ex skulldiver with full invuln for near 400 dmg on hit. crusher reset adding high 300s dmg after landing a high 200s combo totaling over 500 nearly 600 dmg. bison is fine. not a yolo ‘ill just do this overhead becuz i can char’ but still solid mid tier. better than he is in ae for sure. <br>

0:42 - You missed and EASY high damage opportunity. I don’t know if you didn’t know if you were going to hit him or not, but by the way you jumped in, you looked confident. When you jump in, always hold back to charge. You have to train yourself to see the hit confirm. That could have been Jump HP xx St.HP xx HK SK xx Cr.MP xx HP Psycho Crusher for 380 damage solo.<div><br></div><div>Looks like you’re having trouble with Guy. Go ahead and spend that meter and get out of that pressure. Guy really isn’t that hard to fight. I think you just need to learn the matchup a little bit more. With Guy, that elbow drop isn’t a mid like it is in AE. You can just crouch block guy all day unless he goes for an overhead which you can predict if you have seen it enough and the player gets desperate. You can even walk under that elbow drop with Bison and raw launch (not recommended without practice) or start lagging him with St.LK or Cr.LP. Basically you have to out footsie Guy and force him to do what you want him to do. Your Bison doesn’t look bad(looks REAL solid), you just look uncomfortable.<br><div><br></div><div>2:54 - Remember you can grab rolls! This is key for Bison and corner lockdown! (I know missing rolls does happen though) </div></div><div><br></div><div>3:36 - Easy punish. He boost chained MP xx HP and you missed an easy meterless opportunity to escape.</div><div><br></div><div>Overall you looked really solid. Your biggest problem is spacing. It is ok to turtle. It frustrates the opponent. 90% of people on cross tekken don’t know how to play footsies. You need to learn the max range for your pokes and what they are on block. You could have EASILY won that match. Should have tore through him like a rag doll! But the more you play, just focus on mixing that spacing with that Bipson Pressure and you will be fine. Same with Hwoarang. Can’t just let Jin jump in on you all day.</div><div><br></div>

Damnit The Big Boss…apparently all I need is a pep talk from you and I start winning matches. Thanks for the advice, I probably just hit a rut with a losing streak is all.

It happens. It can be frustrating. I had that happen to me and I still have bad days sometimes.
