The Bison Thread

I don’t know who you guys pair Bison up with but the EX scissor kick buff is great for me. I get tons of damage. Enough time to charge a super. Enough time to EX Charge into super. I play Bison with Sagat so with three bars I can actually do about 620 which is better than cross art. I’m still playing with gems and stuff but ill let you know what I find.

Am I doing stuff too slow or does sagat charge quickly? I tried to charge juri didnt seem to work…

I’m EX charging. It’s a 3 bar combo. Is actually a waste considering I get more damage from tagging Bison back in. But a super takes away unrecoverable damage so that’s better in a way.

I’m finding with increased walkspeed and better AAs to cast members across the board, footsie-ing is significantly harder (I’m pretty terrible at it to begin with). A nerfed runaway game doesn’t help this either. Has anyone else found that mobility is causing them serious issues or causing them to change the way they play dictator? I obviously need to adapt here but I’m not entirely sure how I should be changing.

I’m still killing with Bison. I knew my playstyle wouldn’t be affected. In fact the game changes help my Bison alot. Corner lockdown game is excellent. I’m a footsie style Bison as well and I feel this is the most effective style. He can punish just about anything. With the SK “nerf” bison is actually more scary.

Honestly, he’s even more easy to win with because of the throw change. Also, fixing his stand mp makes it very easy for me to do combos that I usually wouldn’t attempt so I’m overall doing more damage with him.

352 off a Hell attack AA is… well… a very awesome feeling

hell attack, stand mp, stand fp, heavy psycho

whats a juri jump cancel AA again?

and my playstyle did not change at all really.

Just got back from a pretty big SFxT tournament in London, and although I got put into losers straight away, I then went on to tear through four really strong players (all A-rankers online) with my three-day Bison.

I’m telling you guys, Bison is going to be BIG in 2013. The safe MK > HK chain, the defensive options with meter, the devil’s reverse jump game… he’s incredibly safe and his damage potential is great if you learn optimised combos. It’s like playing SFxT 2012 in 2013.

BTW, anyone else using his optimised tag-in combo of cl. HP xx LK Scissors, cr. MK xx HP Psycho? It’s tough to land, but all I ever see online and at the tournament is cl. MP, st. MP xx Psycho.

sigh maybe I am missing something but I keep hearing how Bison’s air priority is awesome, I don’t see it. I am finding a lot of characters j.hk’s or even j.mp’s beat Bison’s buttons in the air. The only move I haven’t really tried yet is j.hk.

His AA actually seems worse than AE and I didn’t think that was possible…

It is definitely not worse than AE. Case in point: it’s possible to win against Ryu’s air mp, which is something you could never do in AE.

With your hell attack, your superiority is best when you and your opponent are either at the same height or you are rising to meet your opponent. If your opponent is lower than you, i.e. you jumped at them and they reaction jump hk you, it’s very easy to lose since in the other two cases you’re going to be pressing mp as you’re rising to the top of your jump arc, but in the last case you’d need to have pressed mp earlier. If you are jumping at the same time but their move comes out sooner, obviously you will lose here too so if they do a very early jump hk then you need an early mp or you will lose (and even then you may lose, depending on their hurtbox).

Air-to-air options in this game are still like in AE:
j mp~mp, j mk, nj mk, nj hk, j hp (backwards seems to work better than forwards, maybe because more air moves are missing hurtboxes on their legs? idk), headstomp, devil’s reverse

His Hell Attack beats anything. Other than that, his air to air’s suck. No reason to use anything other than Hell Attack, J.MP and J.HP. Only jump ins I use. Besides, Bison’s walk speed is so fast I don’t even cross people up alot of times. I just cross under.

I dunno I see hell attack loosing a lot of the time rising to meet Kaz j.hk/mk and cammy’s j.hk to just name a few

Good stuff. I’m happy you are doing well with him. TBH though, Bison’s been a problem though. I’ve had the crown in this game since June and I really leveled up when I mained Bison again. He is too tough to deal with. Be REALLY careful at throwing out that safe chain as it is still easily punishable against Abel, Law, and Julia. Alot of tge cr.lk’s in this game got nerfed so that helps but most EX moves and super can punish it really easy. I might have to make a video to show how easily that can be punished.

I admit Kaz is hard to time but you can cross under him for a free tag in though since the recovery time for that move is bad

Any anti-law tech, I can’t seem to find any way to approach due to how safe everything he has seems

Add steve and lei to that list, its a constant safe blocksting that only moves them forward

With Law, just get in on him for free with Devil’s Reverse/jump-in mixups, then your normals beat his normals close up. No MK > HK, he punishes that for free. Be very willing to use EX Psycho Crusher or EX Devil’s Reverse to get out of pressure.

Just my day 6 thoughts, anyways

I think they gave his flash kick AA properties right? He’s not completely free anymore?
Law struggles against s lk until he has meter to ex hcf + p (fist rush fury, the invincible move). His frame traps are fairly easy to learn, the only thing I have serious difficulty with is his instant overhead special, I just can’t react to that.

And once again it shows. I main law. that wont work. just play footsies. law cant out footsie bison. whatever you do, don’t jump. Bison’s jump makes him easy to AA with law.

On these match ups you need to also play footsies. These are some high execution characters with deadly frame traps (lei) and great normals (steve) and AA (both).Steve cannot out footsie Bison. As a matter of fact there arent too many that actually can. You just have to learn the matchups honestly. Im just used to fighting the best of each character. If youre on PSN I can help with Lei and Law.

On xbox only unfortunately

Character-wise, how do you think Chun does? Player-wise my footsies are terrible and I keep losing to Chun.
