The Bison Thread

god damn I always love these Bison socials

edit:

Quite. Proof, if proof were needed that Bison players are altogether a better class of citizen.

I guess for a back throw, however a forward throw also?

Bison loses charge after both throws. However, there’s still enough time to do a charged move before your opponent wakes up.

Anyone have matchup tips vs. Raven? It’s tough to deal with his zoning pressure in the air, and all the Raven players I’ve faced so far abuse this standing jab that I can’t punish on block, not even with a raw launcher.

I could call in Juri but my lack of experience with the character makes the match even harder…one thing I did notice is how you can catch Raven with HP PC when they spam air projectiles from the edge of the screen, but I doubt this trick will work in every scenario.

bison seems to do better vs raven than juri. juri seems to get beat clean by raven in air to air combat. in fact that character is total bs. now that this one player is using him I can hardly beat him now. : /

trying to figure him out myself

Stand jab presurre huh? Back Dash out of it,

and I usually stay grounded and choose to ex psycho once toss out a fire ball, I havent fought any great ravens so thats all I can tell you right now.

On the plus side.

Im loving the buffs to Head Stomp, and DR! & Bisons standing jab has mean range on it.

Yo we need a match up thread goin?

or warp. a luxury bison has

Some trickery I usually do:

After a devils reverse, s.mk,cr.hk (slide) for the knockdown. Then devils reverse again before they wakeup. Most of the time your opponent will roll away so when your arm is out you just go towards where they rolled and hit them, then do s.mk, cr.hk again. Some people have a hard time punishing this, I dunno, it just works. You can do it over and over if your opponent can’t figure it out, and when they do just go for the usual st.mk pressure into chain when you land.

Teleport (escape) after lk, lk scissors. Maybe it’s lag but I get away with this sometimes, particularly vs grapplers where it is useful.

EX PC after lk scissors. Works if your opponent loves to low jab after a blocked sk.

Teleport to escape after a your chain gets blocked.

For Hugo, never jump. Just s.mk and walk…though a simple trick is to jump and head stomp/dr all the time when your opponent is Hugo’s tag partner, then when they bring in Hugo, never jump. I had some people go for the backbreaker thinking I would jump a lot, and when they did I got some easy punishes.

Stuff I have a hard time with:

Unpredictable corner cross up blocking, though I think everyone has a hard time against this.
Blocking air tatsu.
I can’t make j.mk cross up at all…in fact I don’t play bison with cross ups in mind anymore, the only thing that kinda crosses up for me is DR after your opponent rolls away (see above)

this is actually very smart, thanks for sharing

yup, i did this with juri’s blocked light pinwheel to ex in ssf4, but it was risky. Now Bison can do it without much of a punish

Bison is pretty soild.

Against Raven I’ve had a bit of success with properly timed headstomps. If they’re spamming jump-back air shurikens at the middle/below the top of their jump arc, I try to time my headstomp so that it hits goes over the shuriken and hits them right as they land on the ground.

If the shuriken is thrown around the top of Raven’s jump arc, just walk towards him. Ground shurikens are a bit iffy because he can cancel into command dash right after one.

As for Raven’s standing jab, it’s 3 frames startup and +4 on block (according to the guide) which explains the difficulty in trying to get out of it. I can’t really recommend anything for this kind of situation because I haven’t been in that situation very often.

1st reply sounds pretty sarcastic lol

im being serious though, that is a clever way to screw rollers over

Too much real life.

Strong tips, will steal some of these

DR and auto correct PC is a great way to stop rolls.

also for jab pressure, back dash is the best way out.

Ha!! That’s awesome. You can tell it’s an imposter though, the real Dictator wouldn’t drop so many combos.

Bison > Vader.
