i dont think this is gonna happen.
im not a representative for SRK its just that, there’s too many people.
GFaqs may have a smaller group, and it might be easier to assemble your “best players” but there are too many on SRK to choose from.
but anywho, im down to sign up for SRK.

I’d suggest making it round-robin or do the standard team battle method (“pokemon” style). The double-elim bracket method, I can’t see it working, and if it somehow works out “alright” then it still woulda worked better with a more tried and true method.

Interesting…it’s titled that way b/c we’re hoping that some of THE BEST OF GAMEFAQS get to fight SRK. Nowhere in the title does it say that we’re challenging exclusively the best players on SRK, and if that’s what you interpreted then I apologize for the confusion. The closest thing that was posted along those lines was my initial post, where I stated that HOPEFULLY we could take on some of the best ones. But “we want to fight the best SRK has to offer only” was never explicitly posted, nor was it implied.

I think Best of Gamefaqs vs. Whomever on SRK is a cool idea. It doesn’t even have to be a tournament. It will just go to show that not EVERY good player comes to SRK (or do they?), it’s just that eventually, MOST end up here and I think that’s why SRK will prevail… I mean shit, I posted on GameFAQs when the game first came out. Then I found SRK, and I never went back to GameFAQs. Honestly, the main SF4 board is almost as stupid as GameFAQs (“Who is your favorite NPC character in the stage animations? Choices: Fat kid on Overpass, Drunk guy on Run Down Back Alley, or the guy from the Distillery”), but obviously there is a lot more material here and it’s SEMI-organized.
Anyone who plays the GameFAQs challengers, post your results in this thread. Like I said, I will take on anyone from GameFAQs on PSN.
Because everyone who posts on gamefaqs totally blows at the game right? I post there because the atmosphere is filled with less egotistical bull**** (like the TONS i have seen in this one thread alone) that I’ve seen here over the years. Not all of us are from big citys (im from louisiana dunno anyone who plays sf) or can go to tournaments all the time because of being in school/work (pharmacy school is about as rough as med school). I think the idea was friendly competition.
I’m pretty new here so i would like to know why srk hates gamfaqs so much. are they all scrubs or what? fill me in please.
Not so much that GFs blows as people will automatically assume that SRK is more experienced. It’s pretty clear why people would think so.
I sympathize for being in Louisiana. When I first starting playing, none of my friends played. Once I started going to Chinatown Fair and hitting up local tournaments and get togethers, it became way more fun to get into the game.

But I don’t think it’s hate so much as nobody cares. I could careless if somebody challenges a website in anything. If someone from dustloop came and posted SRK vs DL 8v8 BB ONLINE I’d still roll my eyes. If it’s really about finding comp, then these same 8 dudes can just add/ask some players from SRK, and play them. If anything it’s the whole US VS THEM INTERWEB FIGHTAN mentality that people associate with GFaqs in the first place, that’s what people don’t like, don’t matter what site you go to.
