Why would Gamefaqs need vids to prove how good we are? We use the same damn characters you use lol… we’re playing the same game… the playstyles are all different just like they are here and from person from person…
Anyway, Sabre hit the nail on the head about the BEST of SRK playing gamefaqs, they won’t do it cus most of them don’t play online, but that definitely only pertains to 1% of the SRK community, let’s be real. 99% of the people on SRK are on the same level as the people on Gamefaqs, so the challenge truly goes to those of you in the SRK community that post here AND mostly play online, which again I can guarantee is about 99% of you. Why are most of y’all ego trippin like postin on SRK automatically makes you better? Those of you who actually either showed interest or posted something helpful can ignore that, but the rest of those just talkin shit just to talk shit, just play a few of the top players and see what’s up. I’d be more than happy to fight some of y’all myself, win or lose it’s all about gettin better and seein where you’re at while havin fun.
If this goes down, the live stream should definitely focus on the various connections, both console and modem, required to play online.
After all, you can’t win via ragequit, but you sure as hell can try.

What I don’t think you GFAQs guys realize, is that while the TOP level of tournament players tend to not post much, they ALL pretty much play online. More importantly, you might not know it yet, but while, yes, the majority of SRK does suck, there is a class of player that, sure, is below Wong/Daigo/Whoever else you might know, but is still way better than you.
SRK could easily put together a team of these guys, and you’d honestly stand no chance.
That’s just truth.
BUT, I doubt anyone cares enough to even do that. I know I don’t.

I’m sure there are people that are “right below” Wong, blah blah, and everyone else you see the most out there. But honestly what is the harm in actually just putting together a small team of 8 of your stronger players and fighting? Sure some of y’all say cus we don’t care enough to and all that but I mean what ELSE are you doin? You ain’t winnin tournaments offline… BE REAL, every single one of you is not training to win a tournament and be as good insert pro name here. So have some fun and take the challenge so we can all just talk shit post some decent vids and get better at the game (in some form). Perhaps if this actually succeeds then it can escalate to a point where it WILL be an offline kinda thing. But it’s gotta start somewhere right? Right now it’s gotta start online see what i’m sayin? Damn son those were the good old days sir!!! Alot of people got hands put on them during those days. But all jokes aside its just a game and I for one am glad to see people who want to play. But no matter what offline is better. Weither its to see who is the best or just to learn offline is better. That way anything you do during the game you actually can tell if it works or not, with lag not being a factor.
I mean, a team of THE BEST SRKers would basically be a team of the best in America. I don’t think that GameFAQs wants any part of a team consisting of Alex Valle, Justin, Marn, Sanford, EdMa, etc… that would just be retarded, although entertaining.
But I don’t think anyone is really talking about that. The “best of the rest,” though, are still tournament players who A. play the game very seriously B. play against the best players in America pretty regularly and C. win a lot. Online play is NOT a joke, but it’s really hard for someone who plays only online to have the same kind of experience and knowledge (and confidence) as someone who regularly plays against the best and places well at offline tourneys.
If it were on PS3, I’d gladly give it a try. I mean shit, I’d love to be challenged by some GameFAQs peeps even outside of the tournament structure… hit me up.
Jesus, Srk has the tendency to get on its own dick like a fan of a football team " We don’t have time for scrubs" , more than half of us are just ok at best… Let SRK’s “Best” online players go up against gamefaq’s as earlier suggested, n just let that be it. Yea, the game isn’t the same online, but there are some really good “XBL scrubs out there” Lag doesn’t make skill invisible.

But regardless, it isn’t even about that. Online tournaments are just ass. I’m not trying to sit around for 6 weeks, while players chase each other around, to finally sit down and play a 2 bar match.
We don’t have online tournaments amongst ourselves, why do it for anyone else? Especially people that are trying to get their rocks off in an online environment. Nah… no thanks.
That’s not to say that NOBODY would be interested… but I know I’m not. I can only speak for myself.
I didn’t really mean that you specifically are not winning tournament offline, but it’s obvious you got the gist of what I was trying to say. I wouldn’t exactly call it “trying to get their rocks off” online, just a fun “come fight us thing” also its just quick and easy as long as it’s put together correctly, we’ve actually run a few very successful online tourneys that dealt with lag issues, d/c, quite well. Respect your opinion on the subject and you’re obviously an offline player, just tryin to see if the “best” of your online players wanna do this thing.

Videos are not crucial at this juncture, so I won’t be posting any of those. To those with legitimate lag concerns/gripes: I agree. Lag is an issue during online play, but I’ve got a nice host of friends from GFaqs I spar w/online damn near daily. We usually don’t have any lag issues, and if some were to arise in the competition, we’d adjust accordingly. Additionally, the competition is tentatively scheduled to be held online on the 30th of September. Using an online bracket, I’ll keep track of who’s fighting who, who’s advanced and been knocked out, etc.
We aren’t looking to fight the freakin top 8 from SRK period, we’re looking to fight SRK. We understand that SRK has professional talent that we just don’t have, and that’s actually **part **of the basis of this competition. Just to see what the hell happens. Whoever will step up, let’s step up and get this thing underway.
QFT. I’ve stopped playing online mathces, and I rarely play even against friends due to lag. It’s just not worth the frustration.
As for the tournament, you might as well rename it Gamefaqs vs. SRK casuals. You won’t be able to take away any sort of standing of where Gamefaqs ranks with SRK regardless of whether or not this goes down. If it does, you have a team comprised of SRK volunteers (that’s what you’re doing right now, grasping for casual volunteers in this thread while you’ve already stated that you had a vote to determine your players) that 99% of this board won’t approve of as their proxies, regardless of whether or not they win or lose.
So…who cares who it is, as long as they’re from SRK? Why title this “The Best of” then? I’m interested to see how this turns out if it happens, but like hold dat said, you’re going to have a hard time generating valid interest in this “tournament”.
