Seriously, I’ve never played that many Juri’s before. I was a little upset though since I had a ton of dropped combos/incorrect inputs. But then again, I haven’t played SSFIV in about a week so I guess that goes to show you…
I’ve never played that many decent Juri’s let alone in general, but I feel you how the fuck do I drop my st hk link it is one of the easiest links in the game and i dropped it constantly I’m missing out on 140 dmg free after hitting them with a jab. Anyway I’ll be on tonight again one more time before I go a week without playing it again if anyone is down for some team battle or maybe even a little tourny play.
Cool, what time you going on? I’ll be down for some more tonight. DKL you better play some too fool!
Honestly, the mental drain of my studying for the LSATS has been pretty bad over the last few days; I take a break every hour, but I’m unable to do anything (such as spamming this thread)…
I’m very exhausted right now and can’t even be bothered to practice CHUN-LI, like I said I would…
I can’t wait for this to be over.
(that said, chances of me getting into law school right now is slim… I have no recommendation letters; the one teacher who agreed to do it seems to have disappeared)
Fffffffffffffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuu–
He’s so good in Monster:
I miss college…kinda…
Stay on top of those studies bro!
Cannot… THINK.

That being said, talking about anime, I’m still deciding whether or not to purchase the 2nd season of Haruhi…
I’m still wondering why Tatsuya Ishihara (or whoever was responsible at Kyoto Animation) decided that doing the same episode 8 times would be a good idea…
It would make sense if the subject-matter was profound, but this wasn’t (it essentially boiled down to Haruhi resetting the world because Kyon wouldn’t ask her to do summer homework with him; fuck, just ask him out already and stop putting the world in danger, oh my god), so I can’t help but feel like it was a large waste of talent and resources (they did 8 episodes with the same exact god damn story, but then re-animated and re-staged each episode… from a production standpoint, this actually doesn’t sound too bad: several different teams would’ve been doing it, so how annoying it was can really only be felt by the viewers who were turned off by the idea… I was one of them).
The DISAPPEARANCE feature film was actually very interesting, however, and I was pleasantly surprised at how willing the production was to make Kyon out as an unpleasant character (much to the dismay of the work’s fans)… it sorta got less interesting when they decided to wrap up the plot (they could’ve spent more time in bizzaro world deriving insight from the show’s alternate-reality characters), but it was still very much worth watching…
I think I’d rather have that movie than the second season…
wtf theres a second season??? aw… mayn…
I didn’t dislike Endless Eight that much. I might be overthinking it but this is how I saw E8 was done, basically there were 2 things that they aimed for:
-
Put some value in watching the series as it aired. Just like the 1st season, I think KyoAni wanted the series to have a different feel from watching it as it aired and watching it on dvd. People watching it on dvd will likely get bored of the episodes and skip to the last one, but the ones that watched it live will have to watch through all of it to know how it ends, which brings me to the next point…
-
Story-wise, I think they did a good job with E8, it might have been really annoying to watch the same plot develop through 8 episodes but I think the point was not to annoy people but to show the frustration that Kyon went through during the endless loop.
In the novel, this story was covered in just one chapter and it only told the events of the last loop when everything got solved. The only wow factors in it is when you found out how many times they went through the summer. Redoing this story so many times in the anime conveyed that frustration and hopelessness that Kyon felt when he wasn’t able to do anything about the situation.
They so cleverly pay attention to details that they made sure that not even the novel readers knew when it was going to end. In the novel, they had gone through the story xxxx number of times and when the anime reached that point, everyone thought it was going to end but then they increased the count and kept looping it.
Although it was painful, I can see how they put some thought behind it and it shows through when each episode of the story is actually different in more ways than just animation. The first episodes were kind of lighthearted, some of them had this eery feeling and some were just silly.
I might be overthinking all of this, since there was some talk about how they didn’t have enough budget for the second season so they were just going to repeat the same episode 8 times and KyoAni decided to troll everyone and actually do 8 different episodes.
I still think Disappearance is better than Season 2, but if you get over the thinking that S2 was just an Endless 8 gag then you might see the merits in S2.

Footage of Valkenhayn around 2 min in!
Also, lots of changes were made to the other characters, but it’s still a loketest version. Stuff like the Tao taunt loop and Makoto parry loop are nerfed or taken out. Rachel has a frog meter now… All around, nerfs and buffs were given to everyone and some new stuff was added too. I was getting more interested in Tsubaki, and now it seems that they gave her better meter options so more incentive to learn her.
Wait, they’re getting rid of parry loop???
WTF.
EDIT:
What was the point in learning it then? FUCK.
I just got hatemail…from a Balrog, of all things
He’s all “MY FIGHT MONEY”.
Also, BBCS was kinda dead tonight… the hype fizzled out pretty quickly.
Maybe it would have worked out if we got two setups, or maybe it would have died down quicker that way…
I thought it was sort of packed at the beginning, so I moved to the other rooms and see what was happening. I played a few matches of Melty Blood and this Tohou fighting games with Shmup properties. That Tohou game is really interesting, it looks like a normal doujin fighter but plays so different.
Then when I came back to the BBCS room it started to die down…
Surprisingly, we didn’t even need another setup last night; I was pretty amped for a while, but something happened and I died… the rest of the room followed.
Hellsing has me interested in bbcs. Might download him and learn him at our meets. Like I mentioned before, would anyone be down to make the trip to richmond for a Saturday meet at my place? Especially since its been mentioned that Eudo wouldn’t be ok with our own setups at their place(unless we’re running something like weekly tournaments or something, which I’m more than ok with running btw). To be honest, it seems like Eudomonia only tolorates our business cause its a guaranteed $100($64 for four day passes + drinks/snacks) to them when we show up. I don’t know, maybe that parking ticket still stings a little. The only thing I’m actually grateful about is that they don’t really enforce any rules on our group. Especially when I start getting hype. But anyway, Saturday meet in Richmond?
Hmm it’s kinda short notice. I definitely want to check your spot out though.
I’d be willing to go. Would we have enough setups to play with? I still have that big TV I found outside my apartment if we need it.
Will we have time to inform everyone about this for tomorrow? Or we might be doing this next week?
Also, what happened with the $12 day pass deal?
I’m interested, but it’s the getting down there that might be a problem; you told me how to do it before, but we need it like written down or something (not to be posted here, but to be forwarded to people who might be interested).
ALSO, the time it runs will likely also change; I don’t know what time public transportation stops running in this context…
But, yeah, I would be kinda down for FREE-ness in our weekly meets.
Also, I don’t know what happened to the $12 day pass, but it’s still not particularly useful to a lot of people given that not everyone actually stays all day and they’re better off getting like the 4 hour deals or something.
============
ANYWAY, yeah, let’s do a meet tomorrow anyway and discuss it then.
I’ll show up later in the afternoon given that…
UH…
I will be in the shop around 4; let’s meet up, do our usual thing, but then discuss future possible meets in Richmond.
But, it might be hard for some people coming in from San Francisco, so we gotta think this out carefully…
==============
EDIT:
ACTUALLY, I’m free at 2PM, but is anyone going to show up by then?
If someone confirms for 2PM, I’ll show up at the usual time.
If not, I wait 2 hours and show up at 4PM…
Yeah, don’t wanna be stuck in training mode for 2 hours like last week; twas hard.
I might come as early as 3.
Chun gets all the cool outfits
Will show up at 3.
