first off i’d like to thank everyone on here for giving me some insight to whats lacking in my game. from what i understand i needa work on my zoning, BnBz, FADC (hardest thing for me to learn as of right now) and TKz…right?
anyway…heres another video of me fightin’ EddieMcZee’s vega
(audio cuts out for a bit cuz i had my thumb on the mic and sorry that the video is short…thats bcuz i’m starting to run out of memory on my phone)
i really need help breaking my old habits…i’ve been playin against the CPU a lot more before (SFIV vanilla) and only now am i playin more online/offline matches ^_^; tell me what you think!
and also…i needa find away to get the TV to EU sometime so for now jus count my setup out till i find a way to get it there and until we have a plce to store it…sorry
Apologies to anyone who got their hopes up about the venue idea (I was really looking forward to some EU Toshinden), but hopefully we can make something out of this setback…
For the current setups, Dean is considering changing the pricing model to something more reasonable, or at least less convoluted (it’s hard for the employees to keep track of logins with so many comers and goers). I’m thinking of emailing him to get his thoughts.
Good games everyone, that ringer using chun li/sakura (name’s Noej IIRC) was a blast to fight against (though quite overwhelming :lol:). Actually, thanks to all those participating in the Norcal Install tourney for hanging out with us!
ggs to everyone i played yesterday. see you all next week
I’d say the thing you should focus on the most before anything else is rewiring some of your reflexes into more constructive habits. When you get close it looks like you mash out c. lks a lot and are landing them fairly frequently. If you replace all of those with hit confirmed arrows you would be dealing more damage and getting more knockdowns. That along with trying to minimize doing too much random stuff like hooligans and spin knuckles, which can be useful if used sparingly so that they are still unexpected, would improve your game. FADC is good to be able to do but i think its most important use is in cancelling unsafe things like blocked arrows and spikes making them safe on block so if you play safe it can wait. tkcs is also nice but if you land one you get a free combo or at least a hit confirmed arrow so work on wiring those bnbs in place of jab/short strings and minimizing unsafe gameplay first, then work on the more situational tools like tk and fadc.
Glad to hear Norcal Install was a success and looks like it had a great turnout! Sorry I couldn’t make it over this weekend, I had a prior obligation I had forgotten about… (^o^);;
As far as meetings in the future, it sounds like there’s some confusion about being able to bring outside equipment (if I’m reading things right)? Will that have an impact on the Saturday night meets?
One thing I noticed when playing you and when watching you play is you usually do end up doing the same or similar blockstring over and over (crouching light kicks into something). I think one small thing you can do is just mix it up a little bit, maybe add some throws if possible. After the first few rounds, I realized I didn’t really have to worry about teching any throws so I just focused on blocking.
The Dean doesn’t seem too happy about having a big crowd every weekend at the place, so it doesn’t seem like bringing outside equipment is going to happen. I don’t think we will be able to draw a crowd that big though, there were like 100 people in there and it was really noisy. Maybe we can come up with another plan for the venue like having just one extra setup for consoles other than Xbox, and see if the dean agrees. Just throw a few ideas to him and see if we can make a deal ~(-.-)~
Meanwhile, I’m trying to brush up on TvC since there’s a small tournament at Sacanime next sunday. My team is Morrigan and Yatterman-2. I like rushdown/pressure characters, but I’m not good at using them…
Both characters’ lv1 supers are really hard to use and deal damage with, especially Morrigan. They don’t have much damaging combos, except for stuff that ends in their lv3 supers which thank goodness are easy to combo into.
They both have a few tricky mixups that I haven’t been able to incorporate in my game properly. I found out recently that Y-2’s Yatter step QCF+attack can be safely done with a proper Morrigan Soul Fist assist. The Yatter step is a great mixup move since it’s a dash into a low or overhead attack, but I’m not sure when is the right time to use it since it’s not spammable and you might get punished if you don’t guess right so you either have to baroque out of it or have an assist cover you.
You could always save up the meter for mega crashes. Now that I think about it, I have hardly seen many high level players use that many lv1 supers (maybe most of them suck/scale badly?) Also, Yatter-2’s mini honda super seems kinda like Rose’s Ultra 2, so you might wanna think about using it that way. Just gotta learn the timing of its attacks.
Can you combo after the Yatter step? I usually like to have the assist cover you since its pretty much free and you can save the baroque for combos/life. Only problem with that is, I usually don’t know what’s unsafe to do XD. Also, the Yattermans’ (Yattermens’?Yatterpeople’s?) assists really suck for covering, so your Morrigan might have to baroque to safety. But I wonder if its better to just mega crash when hit with a combo than baroque to safety? I guess it might be better if you know good baroque combos… I should learn some of those >.<
