I’ll pay for the rest of the $20, since that’s pretty much cheaper than the CRAIGLIST stuff; if you can hand him $40 now, I’ll pay you $20 at the meet this week…
OR, I give you $20 at the meet and you pay the $40 whenever it is that you get back to work
My only difficulty is the time you guys meet up at… I work from 10AM-6PM on Saturdays and 3 hours of fighting just isn’t enough for an entire week… Lol.
I’m fine with SUNDAYS, but I don’t know if everyone else is… we gotta check with them first, but I’d show up as soon as the damn shop opens on Sundays (which is 10 or 11; I can’t remember).
Ok, if they’re open until 1 I’ll make it this Saturday after work. I take it I should bring my PS3 for SSFIV and my CRT TV for older fighters, but what version of 3rd Strike would you guys prefer? I don’t have a dual stick setup like I do for the PS3 for my older stuff so we might have to use controllers (I haven’t gotten into arcade stick modifying yet…) on either the DC or PS2 version. Other than 3rd Strike, if I need to bring along anything else on the list let me know ASAP.
On a side note I’d like to make sure that anyone uses my equipment is aware I treat my hardware with a lot of TLC and would expect the same from anyone using it. Having to replace or fix equipment is a HUUUUUGE pet peeve of mine as I always treat other people’s things like I’d treat mine. This doesn’t mean I expect people to treat controllers/sticks like they’re made of glass, but my stuff has lasted as long as it has because of the care I take to prolong its usage.
The Dreamcast version is probably the closest to the original arcade version between the DC and PS2 Anniversary editions. It could just be the TV but the DC version seems cleaner and more responsive, but that’s just me…
Gah they have another Agetec (the only worthwile) DC stick at this store in Alameda, but it would require a lot of cleaning and probably some new parts, otherwise I’d have a full arcade setup for it… I’m kinda broke at the moment, otherwise I’d throw down for another stick on Ebay, but it wouldn’t arrive here before Sunday I imagine.
Actually, let’s give the new meet format a go next SATURDAY/SUNDAY; needs some breathing room from NORCAL INSTALL plus some time to gather materials, like surge protectors.
That said, feel free to show up this Saturday night (without your gear) in order to meet me and the regulars and scope out the game space.
Most of us will be at EU on SATURDAY (the 28th) in order to hype NORCAL INSTALL… they may or may not have a Street Fighter setup set aside for us, but I’ll be there to play some Blazblue casuals.
That said, I remember Bushido Blade; that game was hilarious.
We’ll try the new format for the weekly meets (where we’ll bring our own setups) in the first week of September…
But, for now, we seriously need to decide on a different day of the week; when are most people actually free?
Oh, for NORCAL INSTALL, we can’t actually bring ANY setups since all setups/space/power sockets will be taken and put towards streaming gear and BBCS/GG/MB setups…
If we’re lucky, they’ll leave some X-Boxes from the shop’s X-Box area open, but they might commandeer that place as well given the high turnout of the event.
IN ANY CASE, just drop by this Saturday [if you have the time] to meet us; we look forward to seeing you.
This tournament will take all night? [wishful thinking]Maybe we can convince them to unplug one of their unsed computers…[/wishful thinking] In any case I’ll at least stop by and check things out. I’ve been to Eudemonia before (was there yesterday actually), and it’s a pretty chill place so I’m excited.
The event is HUGE (and will likely go on all night); TaoFTW said he’d try to set aside an X-Box station for us (presumably one of the shop’s), but it’s gonna be hard given the HUGEness of the turnout.
That said, I’m excited since the exposure of the event (Iplaywinner stream FTW) can only be beneficial to the venue.
I may be mistaken, but the DC had some subtle gameplay changes as well, most notable being the removal of unblockable setups (Urien, Ibuki, Yang?). However the slowdown on the X360’s emulator is kinda annoying (on a regular xbox1, with no slowdown, this version is the best IMO). The PS2 version runs a tad slower than the other versions, but is the closest to being true to the arcade otherwise.
I’m a bit of a arcade 3s purist though, so they all suck to me.
I too, would like to hear what the regulars have to think about saturday vs. sundays for our sessions (maybe both). Either day is fine with me, but I don’t want to mess up our current dynamic (we’re getting more experienced players attending, not to mention the regulars are leveling up nicely).
I actually know a guy with a 3S machine in his office… He’s invited me over there but I have yet to take him up on it… Lol. Since I never really got to play this one in the arcade my only (and extremely limited) experience is on the DC or PS2. I wish I could make an arcade comparison though.
