Okay guys I think I may be able to make it tomorrow, but I’ll be there late around 4-5’ish.
Is that the one with 3 medium punches?
wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Not sure if I’ll make it out tomorrow now. Anyone want to play online tonight? I get off work in like two hours and I’m on 360. My gamertag is “EddieMCZee”. I main Vega but I dabble in Guile, Chun Li, Adon, and Ryu.
Might make it tomorrow, Have finals next week =[. Haven’t played since the Expendables came out. I guess its time to practice combos…I mean mash them 360’s >_>b
The UPDATED BERKELEY EUDEMONIA thread
I have to work tomorrow morning but I hope to finish early enough to get a game in. If you guys remember my friend Efren he’ll be dropping by with 3S so you can get some games in with that.
Honestly, not much studying got done on my end of things…
DAMN, I was on all day; ironically, I didn’t see this because I was playing on XBL…
That said, I’m running out of space for friends (why is there a limit to begin with? WTF)
I’m looking forward to trying Dudley out in this game…
That said: FUCK ABEL’S STEP KICK; GOD DAMN.
How do I know when he’s not going to throw out tornado throw?
Every time I get hit by step kick, I start to frantically mash DP in fear of tornado throw, but this screws things up because I’m taking a lot of damage by then since I dropped my guard…
EDIT:
ALSO, I OS Roling Thunder-ed Vega earlier today and it was met with failure since the move puts me behind him after he does his escape back flip thing; hilarity ensued.
Learn the spacing for Abel’s step kick and stay the hell away from that area. If he does tag you with it, TT is generally his riskiest option as you can neutral jump/backdash it and punish hard (TT takes an hour to recover). Dudley also has that short swing blow thingy you like so much that actually beats throw attempts well.
I’ll be at EU in the early evening…(5:30-6:30 pm) along w/ my boy Kevin aka KrazyK522. I’ll be bringin’ the noise!!! I mean the speakers for the other setups…so yeah…
on an unrelated note…I have two new videos on my channel from the session @ Red Fleets… feat. our very own Taozenforce/Johnny Vs.Tekniqs from So. Cal…(24 Win Streak)
see you guys later!
gg’s to everyone there, had a blast.
GG’s everyone in 3s/sf4
needs more blazsalt imo
Zaku and his brother (who usually help with the BBCS setup) actually showed up later in the night…
That said, there’s gonna be like BB all day next week anyway…
THAT SAID, good games everyone!
I’ll take a breather and will be back in a few hours to make a post about the new thing that’s happening… I’m too lazy right now, but I’ll proceed slowly since I’ll likely learn all that I need to know next week at NORCAL INSTALL.
Nice games, though every time you drop by, I seem to be absorbed by another game, so I didn’t get to work on the Zangief match up at all…
ONE OF THESE DAYS FO SHO.
===========================
TALKING ABOUT THAT:
I enjoyed 3rd Strike so much that I decided to go out and buy a copy of the game off of Amazon (I did it along with that movie I was interested in… it was still 30 bucks, however… that’s bordering on new Criterion Collection DVD/BD prices, but I’m at a loss at this point given that I’ve been trying to track down this movie for months in used sections at various music/video stores, but to no avail); I should be getting the XBOX anniversary collection in a few days (as it ships from CA).
Game is so fucking sexy.
AS FOR DUDLEY:
I’m gonna be working on using target combos and FADC more in the next few weeks… I’ve got a lot of catching up to do since I was gone from the game too long (still dropping links, unfortunately… especially now that I wanna incorporate f-MK into my game, but I only started working on that 1-2 days ago).
Actually, it could very well be that I was dropping things because I was pretty much operating on fumes at the meet today; I gotta start eating before I go to these things?
EDIT:
They’re telling me to not use the Target Combos in the Dudley forum… which sort of makes sense given the damage scaling…
Hmmmmm…
============================
IMPORTANT VENUE NOTES:
I was talking to DEAN the EU manager earlier and he was telling me about how we can bring our own setups and the entire thing will just be a head count charge of $3 for renting the shop?s space, assuming we don’t rent any of the shop’s gear…
Er, what I mean is: if you sit down and touch an arcade stick, you HAVE to pay $3 to the shop… but what’s nice about this is that you can just play all day; a lot better than $16 for a day pass.
(subject to change; I need to talk to TAOFTW at the NORCAL INSTALL EVENT to get more details… but I think I understood Dean correctly when we talked about it)
So, what we have to work on right now is finding people with setups; I’d be willing to bring my own X-Box and usual assortment of sticks for people to use, but we need to locate people in the BAY AREA who would be interested in bringing monitors and stuff…
(or PS3s, PS2s or whatever? hell, we can even do TATSUNOKO VS. CAPCOM now)
We’re in a very good position right now as I don’t think there are many places that charge this low (Taozen was talking about how he’d be at the shop all day at that price; lawlz).
THAT SAID, I’m going to be working on gathering EXTENSION CORDS from Costco and/or Target and/or Walmart in the near future, so that’s one problem solved…
IN ANY EVENT: GUYS, get the word out there that EUDEMONIA is where it’s at.
Let?s do it!
You’re posting in other threads now!?!?!
GGs everyone. It’s great seeing everyone improve before my eyes. As for me, I have quite a few training goals to work towards now!
FADC Dudley is too good, don’t listen to strangers!
Double posting! Sry!
http://shoryuken.com/f23/oakland-3s-ssfiv-mvc2-much-more-241903/
This is the guy I was talking about with the gear. Might be worth bumping the thread and contacting the guy through PM or something.
I wanna someday be able to do stuff like this:
YouTube - MrDustKicka’s Channel
It seems so far away…
It’s like “WHAT I CAN LINK 3 STANDING MEDIUM PUNCHES??? GTFO”
HELL TO THE FUCK YEAH!
dude after really gettin to play 3S on my stick and not those ghetto ass Euro sticks, i really want Elena in the DLC. Mayn she is jus too good…but yeah GG’s to all tonight! i really didnt play much cuz i was hella tired from work…and i only got one video in since my battery was runnin’ low. but i wanna figure out how to record our matchups like they do for streams and stuff…oh well we’ll figure that out when we get our new space…^_________^
but yeah we have 85% of what we need for our setup…my friend Kevin aka Krazy522 (who should start posting on here…) will donate his TV for our needs…Dom, jus talk to the Dean dude and ask if we can at least store that TV there…and tell us what he says…also try tellin him about this thread…if we have him posting here we can get news directly and he can see for himself what we’re doing…you know jus keepin the management in the “know” so that communication will be clear/non-confusing…
Ah, damn, I forgot to ask if they could store TVs and stuff for us…
I’ll ask tomorrow; give him enough time to reply to the e-mail I just sent.
(that said, I might need to clean up the thread and make it more presentable if we were to direct management here… whoops)
OH YES, just posted in that thread; thanks for the link!
Okay, so I’ve been doing some digging around and thinking about the RUFUS matchup:
I noticed that I was getting punished a lot by EX Messiah Kick yesterday and, in particular, it was from dropped combos (this is worse than EX Shoryuken since Messiah Kick is relatively more safe as it keeps you closer to the ground and you have a longer amount of time to confirm whether or not it hit in order to FADC)… so, a way I’ve figured around that is using TARGET COMBOS (which are impossible to drop as long as I push them in the correct order) and possibly a target combo FADC-d into another target combo (the timing is probably hard, however)…
I can get 200+ stun from doing these and if I do enough of them, I can likely stun Rufus (as he only has like 950 stun… at least according to the strategy guide)
ALSO, with regards to dive-kicks, there’s apparently an option select I can do: cr. hp + throw…
I don’t really know why it works, but I’ll test it out later.
That aside, safe jump-in OS ex jet-upper will likely be my friend; I should practice it (still hate how tedious it is to set this up in training mode); I think Rufus’s only real option on wakeup against Dudley is dash-back at that point (and possibly ULTRA? I’ll find out later), but Ex jet-upper might actually catch him despite the dash back…
ANYWAY, that’s all for now.
EDIT:
ALSO, Tao:
Do meaties beat out wakeup throw?
I can’t remember…
EDIT EDIT:
ALSO, 3RD STRIKE SHIPPED; FUCK YEAH.
Meaties beat wakeup throw when timed properly since throws have startup time (opponent should be rising into the active frames of the meaty).
Just messed around with Rufus in the lab for about a half-hour, finding out some interesting stuff. I used the OS c.HP against our new friend last night with -ok- results, what you use the OS for is those 50/50 situations where Rufus/Cammy can either try to grab you or do a instant dive kick. If they grab, you get a tech, if they try a dive kick, you get an anti-air. It’s good to have but the OS gets eaten up by frametraps and EX Messiah/DPs, so don’t rely on it heavily. Good way to learn the timing is to program rufus or cammy to spam dive kicks in your face mixed with grab attempts. Remember Rufus’ grab is the least of your worries (at least it pushes you far away and only does 150 dmg)
Rufus backdash and focus attack is awful. His footsies isn’t great either, like any character with a dive kick. However, with his high health, and two good reversals (EX messiah and snake strike), you can’t really rush him to the floor as he’ll eventually start getting that super meter up.
EX Messiah is quite punishable no matter which ‘option’ Rufus goes for, at least with cammy. I’ll need to get some more sessions in to know for sure, but I think I’m onto a solid gameplan. More street fighter, less theory fighter for me this week
I need to hit the lab soon too…
But, yes: throw is better than an ULTRA setup (of which Rufus has many).
ANYWAY, I’ve been playing Professor Layton and I can’t seem to put it down long enough since I really wanna complete that painting that you get pieces of by solving puzzles…
The game’s puzzles, at this point, are getting annoyingly hard in a sense that I’m at a point where I’m just guessing now as opposed to actually solving the puzzles…
That said, the animation in the game during the cut scenes is REALLY good…
I’m actually now kinda looking forward to the Studio Ghibli game that Level 5 is doing…
