After playing on XBL with a 3,000+ PP SETH (he was friends with one of my other friends), I’ve decided to just tough it out with Dudley and drop Guile (who was getting boring, to be honest; I can’t just sit there without it feeling incredibly tedious… oh, and FADC into Sonic Hurricane)…
I should just focus on perfecting the links and learning some different combos other than the EX MACHINE GUN BLOW ones.
(or perhaps consider picking up Chun-Li at one point, since she’s actually a lot more fun to play than Guile in the short amount of time I screwed around with her… but I’m too lazy to go through this learning process again as I’ve already put a few days into Guile and 2-3 weeks into Blazblue)
Seth combos are amazing, by the way… he can only take like 3 hits, but the air combos are awesome.
Stick with what you like. I find it funny that some people are “character locked” so to speak and others just end up playing as the whole cast but never lock down a character. You like Dudley better than Guile because his moves are easier for you to do, go for it. Just know this though, if a character or game doesn’t give you the motivation to learn even the hard stuff(which imo fkfadcU2 isn’t all that hard in the long run, says the guy who plays Blanka for the easier execution) that may be an indicator that you’re not having fun.
But, seriously, Dudley is a lot of fun and the EX MACHINE GUN combos are always flashy to me; right before I started playing BLAZBLUE, I was actually nailing Ex Machine Gun blow from all sorts of weird setups (best being from a single distant cr. jab into roundhouse; I was surprised that I was able to do that consistently at one point)…
ALSO, Chun-Li is actually a lot more fun than Guile and I kinda wish that out of all the people I’ve tried to alt, I started with her; I was just kinda turned off by the notion that I maybe needed to piano (which I actually do know how to do since I can sort of do Blanka’s jab electricity), but I think it’s kinda irrelevant to do it after you have an EX meter given how easy it is to mash out EX lightning legs (which also gives you a free ultra).
I’ll likely try to pick her up in a few weeks, but not now given that I’m tired of having to learn completely new things.
That said, I was kinda up until 5-6am trying to nail Dudley’s FADC combos; they’re kinda hard, especially compared to Ryu’s where the link from the FADC is pretty lenient; you can FADC from a target combo or ducking upper into another jab jab roundhouse combo.
Apparently, there’s also this 1-frame link that Marn does with Dudley that I wanna learn, but I don’t even know what the input is and it doesn’t seem to be easy to find in the Dudley forum.
Also, I didn’t know that I can’t actually do a blockstring with overhead; if it’s blocked, I have to start mashing throw.
So just to give you guys some light on our situation -the long story short- the tournament is drawing out a bigger crowd than I originally planned. The likelihood that you bring your own setups for casuals is -highly- unlikely. We’ll be bringing 12 setups (4bbcs, 4ggac, 4mbaa) + Haunt’s IPW streaming equipment. However, we are not using any of Dean’s XBOX setups. So you guys can still rent out those setups for recreational use.
The reality is that the 28th is going to be reserved for us for the entire duration of the tournament (both the back room and half of the main room). Tournament play will always take priority over casuals/MMs. Also, I’m tossing in some raffle prizes for those who pre-reg AND/OR pay the venue fee only. This includes the following: My Higurashi figurine set, Daisuke/Toshimichi signed artwork, BB posters, Miku figurine(?), and other random goodies I can donate.
If you’re looking to play any form of ST/SF4/SF3s during the tournament, then it will -likely- be non-existent or short lived.
Here’s some the most recent updates to the tournament:
**The next tournament, for the fourth qualifier spot, will take place this ** Saturday (8/21) at SVGL during the morning arcade mania [9am - 12am].

Oh yeah! Just so you know, I’m going to be donating my Higurashi figurine set, and signed Toshimichi/Daisuke goodies, as a “SPECIAL” raffle prize for everyone who PRE-REGISTERS!*
= You must pre-register prior to the raffle drawing. You do not have to enter the tournament to be enlisted in the raffle drawing, but you must be present during the on-site registration (AND PAY THE VENUE FEE). Failure to do so, or breaking any rules, will void you from the raffle.
Total Pre-Reg list: 42
This is the current pre-reg list. If you registered, but don’t see your name on here, then contact me ASAP.
I’m hoping that there will be lots of BBCS casuals at the event; I won’t actually be able to make it for the BBCS tournament (as it’s during my class), hence why I didn’t register…

I’m guessing it’s out of print. EX2 Hori sticks are so weird to me; very playable, but weird.
Been awhile since I logged in at EU, I’ll try to make it early tomorrow.
The week break has been good to me. I’m executing better, and now I can focus on other aspects of my game. Last night, i had a counter-match endless lobby against a 'Rog and a Guile. I find Cammy’s worst matchups to be the most fun to play, though I lose them all the time :xeye:
Talking about stuff, I’ve been messing around with the target combos: it’s apparently what I’m supposed to use to space characters out without too much fear of being punished; I didn’t know that light machine gun blow could be 360 grabbed on block and that I’m supposed to just use target combo 8 to push characters back.
Also, I need to be using dash-ins more; it apparently can catch a lot of people throwing random pokes out off-guard… a lot better than duck (I don’t know why I was using this to close distance up close to begin with as you recover out of a dash-in faster)… and it’s infinitely more effective than a jump-in…
That said, the timing for FADC combos is still pretty hard; I can’t nail it consistently and the damage is scaled like crazy after a while…
ALSO, I’m now adjusting to using f-mk cr. lp cr. lk a lot more…
The timing into roundhouse is harder than jab jab, but it does way more damage with that f-mk in there (around 270-280 without meter) and I get a low mixup as well…
That said, I need to practice OS later… in particular, OS Rolling Thunder from f-mk is really useful since it’ll catch people who dash backwards.
