thanks for this i just palyed against someone with 32 ping and 1 frame input lag it was awesome
the “record game” feature will record keystrokes and timing info (or whatever), not an actual video file.
unless there’s a better way, i think the way to get a video file from that is:
after you’ve played your matches where you’ve ticked “record game”, switch the mode from “P2P” to “Playback” (there’s P2P, Client, and Playback). you should see a list of recorded matches. play one and use fraps to capture the playback to a video file.
im using kawaks to play ST
do i have to use mame??
i tried with kawaks
when i open up a game nobody can see me on waiting games or even connect if they had my ip
can someone tell me whats the problem?
It shouldn’t matter which emulator you use.
Sounds like a port-forwarding problem. Are you behind a router? Your opponent needs to be able to connect to your computer on a certain port, and routers by default have virtually all the ports closed unless you go into their configuration and open them yourself. You also have to make sure there’s no other programs like Windows Firewall or ZoneAlarm preventing your program from being accessed.
See section 2 of the tutorial on the first page for more info.
im using a Buffalo Airstation
so what should i do?
i don’t know how to open the ports…
im not sure about windows firewall…
which version of kaillera p2p should i be using?
there are many different versions
the one i downloaded only has p2p i can’t use client
why does mine look different they everybody elses?

Your client looks the same as all of ours so rest easy but just in case dl this
http://kaillera.movsq.net/kailleraclient.dll
Thats from the official page.
I know of two ways to get in a router that work for me and hopefully they will work for you.
1: open up your internet explorer and in the address bar simply type home
2: push the windows key + R and type in cmd ( for xp ) and hit enter. next type in ipconfig and youll get a bunch of info. You want the number that says something along the lines of Gateway or some shit like that. you got to type in that number in the explorers address bar and thats it.
Hope it helps
OH YEA

Look around there for your model and if its not there than just browse around to kinda get the feel of how to open ports
i’ve givin my friend ip 122.122.71.178
he says it just says connecting to 122.122.71.178
and no thing happens
and i see nothing happen over here
It’s your ports man. Your gonna have to get in your router and open them up.
Try this also. If your on XP, open up control panel and depending on the view that you have enabled you either have to click on the little shield icon or or the the firewall icon. Your goal is to turn off WIndows Firewall.
Turn that off and then try to host a game. Make sure you click on the “enlist in the waiting games list” button. If he can’t see your game then you definetly don’t have your ports open.
Here is a way to check if your ports are open but I’m not sure if it works really ?
Maybe it will work for you.
I see you have the record button clicked in the pict. Thats not neccasary. That does exactly what it says when you and your friend start a game. You also have smotothing set to always.
That is for when there is lag i think and it puts in an addiccional delay to smooth out the lag.
( I think ) You can leave the force port option checked but thats more for your friend I think.
Did you dl the client from the official page and get in your router? Did you look for your router type? If it is not on the link I posted then google the shit out of it
because thats all I got:looney::looney::looney:
which client??
okay i’ll try turning off the firewall and then open up the room
here’s the menu where i can change the setting for my router
can you tell me where do change it?
Could we get some rep for djfrijoles? Not that he really needs it, because he has a ton already, but just for trying so hard in this thread.
Hmm, that’s actually reporting the port as closed for me despite the fact that I’m sure I have the port open and in fact have hosted tons of games. I think that site only works if you have the port forwarded for your entire router’s set of computers, since the site doesn’t ask for a local IP address and I only have the port forwarded to one computer (one local IP) on my router.
Yeah, if I understand correctly, smoothing adds a little extra latency to compensate for stuttering (packet loss). It’s a good option if both people have very low pings but are using wireless routers, which are way more likely to have stuttering. He probably wants smoothing on, because I assume he’s connecting wirelessly to his router, as it has that capability. (Unless he’s connected to it with a cable or something.) Anyway, it shouldn’t matter for being able to host a game or not… it’s just a tweak option for later.
I don’t think he should need the force port option checked.
Firstly, I think in general, you shouldn’t make your IP address public, because of computer security issues. The chances of something happening are pretty slim, but still, I would only give that information to your friend and not tell anyone who doesn’t need to know it. You might want to go back and edit your post where you listed it and you might want to edit/remove your screenshot of your router config screen where it’s listed, especially since that picture is so wide that it messed up the forum page anyway. :looney: Haha.
OK, so looking at your screenshot, I can see that you have a wireless router model “Buffalo WHR-G54S”, which has a port forwarding guide for a different game. And you’re able to access its configuration. That’s good, we should be almost there.
Now, for some reason, your router’s configuration menu looks different than in their screenshot even though it’s the same, exact router model. It might be a different firmware version or something. Anyway, it shouldn’t matter… What you need to do is click around those options menus there (like the ones at the left) and see if you can find something that lets you mess with port forwarding. It might be under the “WAN Config” or “Network Config” tabs at the left, but maybe not, so just try your best to find it. It’s there somewhere.
Now, when you find the port-forwarding area, you need to allow “27886” (without the quotes) under “UDP.” So you’ve told it which ports you’ll be forwarding and now it needs to know which computer(s) under the router need to have this forwarded to. This is the weird part, because I can’t see your computer, and it might have a blank field that you can put computer numbers in, but it might also just have a “IP Address of your PC” checkmark. If it’s not there, skip to part ** [*] below.
Save router settings.
Turn off all firewalls temporarily, for testing. Don’t forget to put them back on later.
Host a game and see if your friend can connect to you.
If your friend can’t connect, try the following:
[]* Start menu --> Run --> type command --> black window opens up.
In this black window, type ipconfig /all. Bunch of numbers come up. Look at the one that says “Local IP”. It should say 192.168.11.101 or something very similar. Write this number down. Type exit to leave this black box.
Go back to your router options menu, under the port forwarding again. After the 27886 and UDP parts, find the area where it asks which computer(s) to forward those ports to. Instead of checking “IP Address of your PC” (if there was such an option), put the number you just obtained in that menu. Save settings. Temporarily disable firewalls for testing. Host and try to have your friend connect again.
There are a couple more loose ends to tie up… you might need a static IP with that router (webpage claims so), and if you get it working, you can make it work while keeping your firewalls up, but we’ll worry about that stuff later. Try what I just said and see what happens.

So you found the part of your router configuration where you can allow ports to be forwarded? That’s good, you should almost have it.
At that screen, put the number 27886 next to UDP. That’s the port number that P2P uses by default, and it doesn’t use TCP, so just leave the TCP area blank. Then click Apply to save settings and see if anyone can join when you host a game. Again, make sure you don’t have firewalls blocking your emulator from using that port.
It looks like you’re close to having it working.
Im done! don’t know if it works yet!
so when i give people the ip to link to my game which one should i give?
the static IP or the ip it says in Kaillera?
Raisin Thank you so much!
if i could i would give you a lotta REP!
You need to give out your “WAN” IP, or like the global IP, and (I think) they also need the port. The easiest way is to host a game on P2P and click the “whatismyip” button at the lower-right. It will say something like:
SSRV: IPIS ##.###.###.###:27886
Copy the numbers, including the :27886 part at the end. Don’t copy any of the letters. Give it to an opponent, and they can direct-connect to you as long as you’re waiting there in that screen hosting a game.
If things are set up correctly, you could also just check “Enlist in waiting games” at the lower-right, which puts your game on the public list. Then your opponent can just look for you there (make sure they click the “waiting games” button), which saves the trouble of copying numbers.
If it’s not working yet, don’t give up… I’m not totally familiar with the router you have, so there might be a thing or two that I don’t completely understand, like maybe the static IP stuff. But we’ve almost got it.
okay! i’ll find somebody to try linking to my IP
and see if it works!
Congrats on getting it working, YuuFone!
djfrijoles : It seems like we had a good conection huh ?
YuuFone : yeah huh. P2P that shit!!!
YuuFone : ST fo life BIATCH.
He was happy lol. We played our delay filled laggy match and through 500 ping you could tell YuuFone is a high level player.
Congrats! =)
edit
lol he’s already got a p2p thread up hahahahahahah
