You can pick bosses on Kaillera with 0.64 and you can pick Gill and Shin Akuma offline on 0.117

Can you pick them on 0.119?

This is frustrating. I have been hosting games for weeks now, then my electric flicked off and on, after the reboot, no one can connect to me! I reset router/modem forwarded the ports that needed to be forwarded no firewall is on and no anti virus or other programs.

Sorry if I’m being Captain Obvious, but did you check to see whether your local IP changed when the modem/router got rebooted? When mine reset, that’s what happens for me, and I can’t host again until I adjust the port forwarding a bit to point to this new local IP. (I’ve been too lazy so far to set up a static local IP.)

Finding your local IP on WinXP: Start menu --> Run --> type Command --> type ipconfig, note your local IP (something like 192.168.X.X) --> type exit to close window.

Double check router settings to make sure the P2P port is forwarded to that local IP address. Like I said, when my stuff reboots, it often gets shifted off by like a single digit.

yeah, I made sure it was the same IP

My ISP main center is very close to me… if their electric went off is it possible that they blocked the ports? I don’t think they went offline though because after reboot my modem went right back on.

Yeah the lan ip changed by one digit, ipconfig gave me the one I needed, thanks again!

Can anyone help me find a link to get the Kaillera p2p client? the link on the first page doesn’t work.

The front post was just slightly outdated. Do this instead:

http://kaillera.movsq.net/ --> click “Downloads” at left. The newest (Feb. 11) client is near the top and the older (Nov. 2) one is near the bottom. You put either of these files into your main emulator folder. This might require replacing the old .dll file (make a backup?) or, in the case of the older P2P client, renaming it to be called the standard “kailleraclient.dll”.

Aight fellas here goes another tip for anyone else trying to use a crow bar to open there ports.
There is not one universal way to open them all and it looks as if there are quite a few ways at that. Well if yours is like mine ( no homo ) and it asks for a range instead of one specific port to open, then what you want to do is make the first number of the range be 10 bellow and the
second number be 10 above the actual port you are trying to open. I’ll come back and edit on the type of router I personally have so if any one has the same I can walk them through.

Good question. I got that bit of information back when I first started trying to open my own ports ( for Z BATTLE I think ) from somewhere but I can’t remeber where. It worked so I just figured that was the way you were supposed to do it.

I’m guessing your method will work because I went to http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/2wire/2700hg/default.htm and I just saw that it says to enter port/port range,
so I guess if it doesn’t work with just one then it wont hurt to try my way just to see if the person is on the right track or not.

My router is a 2wire 2700hg so if anyone else has the same you can always hit me up and I’ll be willing to lend a hand.

I’m gonna make a thread for this specific topic because it seems to be the most difficult part of getting started. so check it out fellas.

This is a simple step by step tutorial on how to get started with P2P. Since most people here use MAME32++, I’ll use that as an example.

Tutorial:

Step 1: Set up the emulator

1.1: Get the latest version of your emulator!
e.g. for MAME32++, get http://civilian.movsq.net/mame32ppk119.7z
Note: the compressed file format is 7z. You’ll need the 7-Zip to uncompress it. Some other compression utilities such as winrar can also uncompress 7z without any problems.
Once you are done extracting the emulator executable to the folder you want to install it in, proceed to next step.

1.2: Download the p2p client
Download it from http://kaillera.movsq.net/kailleraclient.dll
Download it to either your emu’s setup folder (where you extracted the mame executable above) or your C:\Windows\System32 or equivalant folder for global install.
Note: If you are going to put your client in C:\Windows\System32, make sure there is no kailleraclient.dll in your emulator’s folder.

1.3: Configure your emulator
i.e. Set up rom folders and display options and keys and whatnot. Since you know most about your emulator, ill just leave it at that.

Step 2: Set up your connection
Port 27886
You will need to port forward port 27886. i.e. make sure that your modem/router and whatever you might have forwards all UDP packets of port 27886 to your pc. Its the same as if you were configuring your bittorrent client or other any other p2p systems for usage behind your router.

If you’ve never port forwarded before and you’re totally confused, visit portforward.com.
Find your router brand/model no there. Look for the default guide for your router. These are really easy to follow step by step guides designed for those who can read and click.

Also, if you have firewalls and internet access control softwares such as Norton or your windows firewall or [insert name here], be sure to add your emulator program or port 27886 to their allowed/excepted list.

Step 3: Use p2p

The idea behind p2p is really simple. One person hosts and the other person connects.

3.1: Activate netplay from your emulator. You should see something like this
Select the P2P mode from the Change mode Drop down list as shown. Select the “host” tab if not already selected and you should see the p2p mode screen.

3.2: To host a game, activate the host tab, select a game and press host
It should show something like this.
To enlist your game in the public waiting games list, tick the “S: Public” checkbox (marked red in above screenshot).
Also note the “whatismyip” button. Use it to determine your external IP as well as to see if the waiting games list server is up.

3.3: Connect through waiting games list.
On the p2p mode screen, switch to the “connect” tab and click on the “waiting games” button. It should open up the waiting games window and automatically download and ping waiting games. You can just double click to connect if you find the game you are after.

3.3: Connect with IP.
If you dont want to use the waiting games list or the waiting games list if offline or when playing in your own local network, you can connect to host with his external IP/hosting port. All you need to do is put his ip in the PeerIP box and click connect.

3.4: The game will start as soon as both users mark themselvs ready (marked blue).

And about this Kailleraclient.dll, can you enter a given server by IP ?? or you can only join a host???

Not trying to flame but I have a question for you. Did you just read the very first post and then decide to post because one post above you there is a good link and several posts above you me and Raisin helped Yuu ( not you lol ) to open his ports.

If you still can’t get them open then ask in there and we will try to get you going.

Hmm I’m having a problem with p2p Kaillera since today. When I try to host or join a game the connection window simply minimized and I can’t access it anymore unless I close it. Can’t get it to work with any version of fbalpha and I already tried changing my kaillera.dll, none of effect.
Can someone please help me? I eventually wanted to join the Super Sundays and now this is really fucking me up
