I could and cannot get MAME to work, Bcause I’m told U need to run it via command prompt, and that so doesn’t work…
if you mean play on local network, you will need to host a local kaillera server.
by mame…it meant mame32k. Well, they are different and everyone outside kaillera perceives so. You don’t need command prompt to use the mame32 versions.
how do i host a server? open “kaillerasrv.exe” ? does that automatically do it for me, do i just send my IP to my other comps and then it works? thanks
yeah. You might want to edit kailleraserv.conf file with notepad or wordpad or your text editor and change the line “Public=1” to “Public=0”

If you are using some a firewall or some sort of internet access control software…you will need to configure them so that they allow your server application to be accessed from outside. By outside I mean the machines you will connect to server from.

Umm, did you try double clicking a game on your game list before going in online play?
I’d like to get games just to show up on my game list…plus I need to find a site where I can get complete ROMs. Maybe I don’t have MAME set up correctly or it didn’t unzip correctly. For example, I had to create my own ROM folder manually.
You don’t need to unzip your files. Heck; you’re not supposed to unzip them. Mame only checks for .zip files (IIRC beacause the creator wanted it to be easier). If you delete the .zips, Mame’ll keep saying that files are missing, even if you have them all.
You don’t need to manually create your rom folder, just change the directories to whatever folder your roms are in.
No, I realize you don’t unzip the files (did I mention that?). I think my main problem is getting complete files, which I know is something you don’t discuss around here (as far as where to get them)… but I wouldn’t be opposed to a PM:lovin:
If they’re neo geo games, you need a neo geo BIOS as well.
Also, make sure if they’re neo geo games, that you’re downloading MAME roms not NeoRageX roms.
As well, make sure that you’re downloading the parent (largest) ROM. Sometimes you may need the parent plus an extra.

IF this helps anyone new to MAME getting the usb > ps2 converter. The new converter does not work well with ps2 controllers and my SF:AC stick. I’ve tried two of them and the stick does not work at all.
Using the controller, the d-pad is pretty strict, not good for serious fighting game play because even for me, pulling off two hcf’s is hard. just my experience.

after you dl roms, hit f5 to have them show up on your list in MAME. after that, connect to kaillera and they should show up.
hi im on my 2nd day of kaillera play (its sweet) im having a hard time finding ANY ST competition on the west coast
i can only get some A3 in texas (im in california)
i played ST last night with a miami server, is all the competition on the east coast? i get kicked all the time on those servers =(
I’m on WC (San Diego, CA). I, along with most players, usually go to GodWeapon, as that is where the competition is, but if you catch me online (usually on between 6-10 p.m. on weeknights), I’ll gladly meet up with on fragbox.
For some reason I’m having problems trying to get SFA3 to work on my MAME. I’m running MAME32 0.105. I downloaded SFZ3(980727) and the parent file SFA3(980904). Can someone please tell me what I’m doing wrong? Help would be gladly appreciated. Another thing about the files after I download them is that when I tried running the game it said I had certain files missing. WTF?
the only a3 rom you need is the US version.
It’s still odd though because it still says that I’m missing certain files. I download it, opens up with winRAR and then i move the folder unzipped into the ROM folder. Now, unless you wanna hit me up on AIM for some blackmarket trade secrets, then I’m all for it.
